Hi to all,

i found this game on the oculus rift forum. I can only say awesome! It blew me away! I never had a better VR experience before. It feels like you are sitting in that fuxxx race car. It is hard to explain. This game is absolutely perfect for VR glasses.

Is this game still in development? I hope so! Is it possible to create mods for the game or add new cars and features for us developers?

Thanks

Yes it is still in development, you can find more about it in these topics:

As for mods, i don't think so, in general.
You can make track layouts and make new car classes, such as GT2, GT3, for example, by reducing their original intake. That's about it, as far as I know.

There are tons of mods but you can't connect to an official server with them (single player only).

The modding is not officially supported (yet), because the game internals are not in "v1.0" state and will change further in the future, so the devs don't want to encourage modding yet and mods are generally not a good topic on this official forum.

"There are tons of mods" - yes, that's true, if you will search the Internet, you will find quite some.

Also I'm afraid after this big graphics/track update is released, "there will be tons of broken mods", and their authors will have to re-do them to make them compatible with new version = reason why devs don't support/encourage modding at this moment.

But Scawen already stated he would like to release modding tools at some point in the future, when the game code/data formats are more stable... with current speed of development that may be easily 5-30 years away. After that the modding will be officially supported.

So the simplest approach is to accept LFS as "non moddable" game at this moment, unless you are ready to create mods (with your own tools) which will become broken often with newer versions of LFS. (in such way every SW is moddable of course, nobody can stop you from hacking it as you like)

Enjoy it. Smile (IMO it's a great simulation)
