Round 3

Sunday,14th June
17:30 UTC / 19:30 CET* / 20:30 EET*

* Summer time

3rd round of STARL 2020 season features another quite different track - it is the slowest and most twisty circuit of the series calendar,which barely fits in the "short track" category. The paved version of Rallycross Long custom layout is just over 2 kilometers long and features 2 hairpins between plenty of other turns,slowing the average speed around the track down to make this timewise the longest way to finish series nominal distance of 150 kilometers per race.

One third of the season is done and current standings could not be much more intriguing - top6 is covered by just 5 points gap,while any new entry still has a great shot of mixing in the battle for title.

Last sunday STARL visited the Fern Bay racetrack in Jamaica,which offered a very difficult race at the twistiest circuit of the series calendar - the paved version of Rallycross Long. The average speed in this course was so low,winner required almost 1 and a half hours to complete the nominal 150 kilometer distance. R.Kardol qualified 3rd and used the bash in turn one to advance to 2nd place. He paced himself better than the polesitter as he was able to keep up with him and make a successful overtaking move for lead at lap 8,from which the dutchman led the rest of the race to score his 3rd overall STARL win (other 2 were scored last year). Despite TRR taking up front row,only the 2nd fastest in qualifying,Trespasser,was able to convert the qualifying pace in high finishing position - the lithuanian climbed back to 2nd position after his teammate retired and kept it until finish line. Last year's champion and round's defending winner Unite advanced 2 positions from start to finish and finished 3rd.

3rd different winner in 3 rounds deffinitelly makes the standings table more interesting - leader is still Rony and his advantage is still just a single point,just the follower has changed and even doubled in amount. T.Soini and Unite both have same points count,while the latter is in higher position due better 2nd best position. Rookie of the year standings leader hasn't changed despite him retiring and with point for pole position he even increased his lead over Snoopy,who did not attend this round and lost one attendance bonus point.

Tied most points scored for teams in this round is enough for WCL to increase the gap over closest competition - they're now 12 points ahead of TRR,defending champions RGA is 3rd another 6 points further.

Nations cup is starting to look pretty much one sided - Finland is the only country regulary scoring points from more than just a one driver,so they keep pulling away from the rest. Latvia is 2nd currently and has scored less than a half the points as Finland,followed by Estonia in 3rd.

After the 2 weeks break between the rounds,STARL will return to left turns only racing - U.M.S.A. 200 is a 200 lap race around 500 meters short trioval,using part of the Race Green International's full course. This will also be the 2nd and last race for STARL's Oval Trophy,currently led by winner of Dusty 300 - G.Peet. Setting up for this race probably will be already half success,as racing with a bad setup on short oval will make the race feel at least twice as long.
