All-Wheel-Drive Winter Series 2022 - information

The winter is coming,in northern part of Europe it means snow and slippery road conditions as a result of snowing. What's the best way to have fun in this cold season? Pack out your all-wheel-drive car and go to a lonesome icy road or frozen lake! This is how the original idea of this league has born - take LFS's both all-wheel-drive cars, use modified road sign "Slippery road" as logo, plan a callendar to have a nice variety of racing experience and here we go - it's time for:

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2022

The eleventh season of the yearly winter league starts in the dawn of new LFS era - the one with custom cars available besides original LFS cars. Since the modding scene still is just starting to launch their creations, this AWS season will feature just one custom car, which is a "house own modified" XF GTR - to offer something different besides the usual 2 cars,we electrified the XFR and gave it an all-wheel-drive drivetrain to fit in the league. The addition of an electric car alse gave the chance to create a new award - Megawatt Award, which will be awarded to driver scoring most points in rounds using electric cars, which is a brand new challenge as the battery capacity does not allow to race full distance without pitting - challenge will require to find best compromise between pace and energy management. The schedule has been extended to 7 rounds for this season,3 will feature the well known FXR,2 each - RB4 and the new XF eGTR-RX (currently carrying the abbreviation XFE). Also this year Race Green Events offers small money prizes to the best 5 drivers for their efforts during the season!

The 7 round season will start with the new car and return of an old round that was last featured 5 years ago - RX Trophy of Westhill, which will be run on a track created by Mazdaratie - Summer Grass Rally, with small edits by RGE. Round 2 is one of 2 rounds that have been in schedule in all previous AWS seasons - NewYear City Challenge, which this time will be run on configuration never run before in this league, the Chicane Route in default direction with FXR. First appearance of RB4 this season will be round 3 - Westhill Street Cup will be run on the brand new West Street Course, layed out on the north-west part of Westhill Raceway's support roads. The middle round this year will be the usual season finale - fastest round of the schedule and the only round that has never been changed through whole existance of the series - Winter 200,run as always with FXR. Round 5 will be the 2nd electrified round - the new XFE will substitute the usual FXR for the Blackwood RXGP,run in Blackwoods standard RX track. The Jamaican island welcomes AWS racers in the 6th round, which will feature the 7.57 kilometer long Black XL configuration, where few parts of the track have dirt surface. Season finale will be held on the 600 meter dirt oval featured 2 years ago, this year instead of RB4 it will be run with the powerful FXR,which this year is awailable with the "right" tyres - the distance has been increased to 120 laps and round is renamed to simple "Green 120".

Series returned to mondays last year and it will stay in this weekday also for this season - qualifying of each event will start on 18:30 UTC. Season will start already in 20th december of the old year and return after every 2 weeks until the middle of march. Racing in this league will require installation of test patch and S3 licence to be able to race in all 7 rounds (S2 is enough for 5 rounds that do not feature the XFE,S1 - in 6th round). Make sure you install test patch in different folder to keep a copy of stable version for other leagues!

Timetable:
18:30 UTC / 19:30 CET / 20:30 EET
- 20 minutes of qualifying
19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET - race start

Special notes on qualifying:
* In rounds 4 and 7 hotlap qualifying will be used, this means there will be no specific lenght of qualifying session, every driver will run alone and have outlap and 2 hotlaps. Qualifying order will be determined by points standings - the highest ranked driver will start his qualifying run last, lowest - first. Race start will be approx. 10 minutes after qualifying.
* If there is no max allowed grid (40 cars),Drivers Championship top 10 drivers will be allowed to start from end of the grid if came late and missed qualification - noone else will be allowed to start without qualifying. In round 1 this top 10 will be taken from last season's final standings.
- To qualify for the race drivers have to set a laptime during qualifying session within 112% of best laptime of the qualifying session. This does not affect championship's top 10 drivers as they may start the race without qualifying or with laptime outside 112% of best laptime.

Championships:
AWS Drivers Champion - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through all 7 rounds, including attendance bonus points
AWS FXR Master - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 3 rounds run with FXO GTR (rounds 2; 4 and 7)
AWS RB4 Master - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 2 rounds run with RB4 GT (rounds 3 and 6)
AWS Cross Challenge Winner - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 3 rounds run in rallycross tracks (rounds 1; 5 and 7)
AWS Oval Trophy Winner - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 2 rounds run in oval tracks (rounds 4 and 7)
AWS Megawatt Award Winner - awarded to a driver with the most points scored through 2 rounds run with electric car[s] (rounds 1 and 5)
AWS Rookie of the Year - awarded to a driver, who hasn't started a single AWS race before this season, with the most points scored through all 7 rounds, including attendance bonus points
AWS Teams Champion - awarded to a team with the most points scored through all 7 rounds (team will score finishing points from it's 2 highest finished drivers and all round bonus points)
AWS Nations Cup Winner - awarded to a nation with the most points scored through all 7 rounds (nation will score finishing points from it's 2 highest finished drivers and all round bonus points)

In all championships - in case of a tie, higher rated will be driver/team/nation with highest finishing position,if equal - it's amount,if equal - second highest position etc. If all finishing positions happen to be equal, higher rated will be selected using same system from qualifying results. If they also happen to be equal then as a tie-breaker will be used last round finishing position. In case a tied driver had a disqualification in one or more rounds,it counts as a primary rating lowering factor, when deciding tiebreak.

Rules:
We will not make a mile long rule book that noone will read completely anyway,so we will rely on common sence of competitors to behave and follow the basic Rules of Clean Racing. There will not be an admin in server who will specifically observe drivers' behaviour during the race. If any incidents reported/protested,we will take individual approach to each of them to decide best resolution or punishment if needed.

Basic guidelines as a reminder:
> Blue flag - you may not deny/block a passing manouvre of laping car and try a repass right after it. In qualification it means - stay off racing line and don't disturb drivers on hotlap.
> Shortcuts - 2 wheels on track at all times. Track is mostly marked by white lines, rumble strips or at least defined by paved surface, while also curbs count towards track. Overtaking outside track (for example in Kyoto oval on apron) counts as illegal and will be penalized in case of protest.
> Pit exit - allthough there will be no mandatory pitstop in this league, pit exit lines will have to be respected! Everyone caught crossing pit exit lines with more than 2 wheels will receive 10 seconds penalty added to finish result. In round 4,which is held in oval track also pit entry must be respected - driver have to enter pits on apron before final turn.
> Chatting - it's not completely outruled, but still drivers are expected to concentrate on racing. In case of too much chatting while ignoring messages asking to cease chatting,a penalty may be given. In case of any abusive/offensive language a penalty will be given! Non competing observers may not use chat at all!
> Lags - if there are any connection issues, driver will be asked to improve (close internet using programs). If driver will be considered as dangerous due to unstable connection,he will not be allowed to participate.
> Button clutch - is forbidden! Manual clutch is allowed only in combination with H-Shifter. Everyone caught using it will be penalized for unsportsmanlike behaviour with increased penalty for every next offence.
> Hacks/cheats - if used, you will not race with us. Ever. As simple as that.

Possible penalties:
> WARNING - any minor infraction that needs to be noted without penalty. Warned driver might receive bigger penalty for other infractions.
> 10s added to finish time - minor infractions, like illegal passing, pit exit line violation, chat misconduct.
> 30s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in rounds 4 and 7) - medium infractions like causing avoidable incident[s] without serious consequences or unsportsmanlike behaviour, illegal passing.
> 60s added to finish time (1 lap penalty in rounds 2 and 5 / 2 laps penalty in rounds 4 and 7) - medium infractions like causing avoidable incident[s] with consequences to other drivers (like affecting damage, multiple position loss) or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
> Disqualification for 1 or more rounds - heavy infractions, multiple incidents, unsportsmanlike behaviour. After serving disqualification, driver will automatically carry a "warning" for the rest of season.
> Series exclusion (including ban for any other events run under Race Green Events control) - serious infractions like intentional/revenge wrecking, event sabotage and any other malicious act.

All-wheel-drive Winter Series 2022 final standings:

Championship spreadsheets

For the 11th time we're ready to announce best drivers of another All-wheel-drive Winter Series season and who would knew - we'll announce the 11th different champion! Even if 2 previous champions joined also this season, none of them challenged the new champion through whole season. This season was different from previous seasons as we had a 3rd car joining the AWS car park, bringing a completelly new type of engine - electric. But let's start with some numbers - 43 drivers signed up to join this season, which is a decrease of 6 compared to previous season. 35 drivers actually took part, that's a decrease of 4 between seasons. 29 drivers did score at least one point in standings, that's just 1 less than last year's repeated series highest mark. 7 drivers joined all 7 series rounds,3 missed just a single round. Attendance ranged between 24 in round 2 at South City and 11 in final round at Westhill's small dirt oval, averaging 17.8 drivers per round - even if it was decrease by 3.3 compared to previous season,it's still league's 2nd best value.

AWS 2022 Drivers Champion: YES V. Laguckas
Despite not having won a single individual award in this league, the lithuanian entered the season as 2nd most winningest driver in league's history with 7 round wins. He added another 3 this year to round up to 10 racewins, finishing between best 4 in another 3 rounds this year. V.Laguckas scored 2 pole positions (now 9 in total) and 3 fastest laps of the race. He took the standings lead after winning round 3 and never gave it up,entering final round with commanding 21 points lead, practically having the title secured. V.Laguckas previous best result was 2nd in 2017 and it was huge increase in performance from last season, which he finished as 36th.

2nd best in standings this season is member of defending teams champions S1dus - Unite added to his stats 2 more pole positions this season to make a total of 3,but still remained winless, repeating his best round finishing position 2nd a total of 3 times this season, adding another 2 podium finishes and one 5th place finish. Last season the finn finished 4th in standings, which was his best result until this season. Last season Fatal scored a single top5 finish and ended 12th in standings, this season was a big increase for him - he won the electric powered race at Blackwood's RX track and finished 3rd in following 2 rounds, climbing up to 3rd in final standings after having rather mediocre first half of the season. The defending champion R.Kardol won the season opener, finished 2nd in 2nd round to keep the standings lead, but did not attend any other round, ending 12th in standings.

AWS 2022 Rookie of the Year: ZFRL•Thehemuli
Season started strong in competition for league's best newcomer honor, but the competition faded so much that Thehemuli could just walk through the last part of season to secure the award - the culmination for him came with a race win in final round, boosting him up to 4th position in overall standings. 2nd best rookie Lorenzo scored less than a half of top rookie's points and finished 11th overall. Last season's best rookie Climbs did not attend 2 of the 7 rounds, finishing 3 positions lower than last year - 14th,still improved his best round finish from 9th to 6th.

AWS 2022 FXR Master: S1DUS*uNite
Unite finished on podium in all 3 rounds using the FXR,despite being winless,he still had a commanding 8 points lead over closest rival Thehemuli. The defending award winner R.Kardol attended just 1 round, finished 2nd in it and ended in 11th position in table.

AWS 2022 RB4 Master: YES V. Laguckas
The overall champion V.Laguckas won both RB4 rounds, leaving competition no chances,Unite was his closest rival 10 points behind. Defending award winner R.Kardol did not attend a single RB4 round this year.

AWS 2022 Cross Challenge winner: [FM]ˆチαtαι
This season we had 3 rounds on various rallycross tracks, one of them was won by Fatal,3rd and 6th place finishes in other 2 rounds were enough for him to score this award with 3 points gap over overall champion. The defending award winner R.Kardol attended just 1 of the rounds, winning it placed him 9th in the table.

AWS 2022 Oval Trophy winner: S1DUS*uNite
Unite finished 2nd in both oval rounds, securing the award by 3 points over Thehemuli, who scored a win and one 5th place finish for this award. Also here defending winner was R.Kardol and he also did not join a single oval round this year.

AWS 2022 Megawatt Award winner: [FM]ˆチαtαι
With addition of 3rd car, which is electrically powered, there was a chance to introduce a new minor award in the series - one for best drivers using electrical power with it's specific traits. Fatal finished just 6th in 1st round, but won the 2nd,edging out overall champion just on tiebreaked for this award.

AWS 2022 Teams Champions: Last Lap Motorsports
Having a new series champion and previous series champion in same team is surely great advantage - LLM was a strong force through whole season, never giving up lead in teams standings. The team scored it's 3rd teams champions title in AWS,previous 2 came in seasons 2018-2019. LLM scored a total of 3 wins and 10 top5 finishes through out the season. The series hosts and previous 5-time champions RGA finished 2nd in the table, scoring a win and 6 top5 finishes. With defending series champion attending just 2 rounds, also the defending teams champions performance suffered - Team S1dus placed just 3rd this season, scoring 1 win and 8 top5 finishes.

AWS 2022 Nations Cup winners: Finland
This has to be considered the biggest upset of the year - the 5 years long reign of Lithuania was ceased by Finland and that in just final round! Finland was in chasing position whole season long and only in season finale was able to pass the defending champions - the drivers of this nordic country scored "just" 2 wins, but added a lot of points from their 16 top5 finishes,4 of those in final round alone. Just a single driver was there to represent Lithuania in season finale and that was a deciding factor, still strong 2nd place in nations table for the defending chamions,as they scored 3 wins and 14 top5 finishes. Apart from the dominating duo there was not much competition - 3rd place in table was Latvia, scoring less than 1/4 of champions points count and that from a single driver - Rony scored a win besides a single other top10 finish.

Race Green Events thanks all participants and wishes much success in all other leagues and events they are taking part. We hope you enjoyed racing in AWS and you all get much fun and valuable experience from the races.
Feel free to use this thread and share your experience through out the series!

The prize winners will receive PM within a week's time!

The new patch supporting user created cars came out just in time to add one car to AWS this season, next year it will be different - it is planned to use a different car in each of season's rounds, including return of all 3 cars from this season. Through out the season intermission RGE will scout mods section for best candidates of cars lineup for season 2023. That will also mean the drop of 2 minor awards - as both LFS original cars will be used just once per season,it does not make sence awarding drivers for a single win with "master" title.
Regarding other future plans - next up in our schedule is the 3rd running around a very long circuit on public roads. Cars list has been slowly generated and tested in past months, while track will receive another extending update. No more details are yet to share as there aren't any...
When looking at further future - STARL is also in the plans with a short season,a car candidate has been prepared, but sits in storage for past 2 months. As announced before, the next VERL season will be start of the "turbo era"- there are certainly few ideas, but there's plenty of time until projected season start in late august or early september.
Otherwise we'll give the drivers chance for some competition in good old RTFR and RTFR XL,mixing in the experimenting RTFR CCCC at possibility!
