50hp go kart
today i drove a go kart with... yes 50hp!!!! its the most incredible thing, and it has front wheel brakes too which tear your face off.

if anyone knows TKM or rotax this might give u an idea of just how fast this thing is. a TKM was HALF WAY up the main straight at whilton and i was in the 1st 2 corners. by the end of the straight i was 10 yards ahead, and went past this tkm like a BULLETT. and TKMs arent slow machines.

for those who dont know TKM or MAX, ill give u some numbers. The karts we used for the LFS event have 12hp, with very hard tyres, rear brakes only and weigh about 60 or 70kg more than the 50hp water cooled wankel machine.

if anyone sees a test near them, do it NOW. its just so quick.

I want a go!!!!
Then leave, sjees, what's your problem?? illepall

Crap, I reacted before I thought of why this thread was so far down... Doesn't matter, I still think this deservers a slight bump
That sounds awesome! I had my first go on a 2-stroke 125cc race kart this year, with something like 25hp, and that was a blast having only used regular rental karts with very little power before. I can only imagine how this one felt!
whos talking in the vid?
Karting gets a Rotary Engine, Awesome
I thought rotary engines in karts had been around for awhile? I know i read about it months ago so i assumed it was normal.

Amateurs, that's for sure...

*shivers*
Hehe. A nice piece of engineering that engine. Kart engines having such tight maintenance schedules anyways the wankel doesn't suffer from excessive maintenance like it does in other applications.

From what I've heard, switching from 2-strokes to 4-stroke piston engines hasn't been that easy partly because of noise regulations, and that wankel engine sounded pretty quiet on that video. Maybe CIK should look at this and make an international class for them..

I'd like to have a go in one, albeit I haven't driven proper karts (if you count Yamaha KT100 as one) for so long (almost 10 years now). Although, while they're at it, why not build a bigger engine to shame a superkart
