Is it possible to stop LFS from sounding a beep when receiving messages in online mode? These beeps ruin my concentration, and I involuntarily look at the message instead of at the track.

I know I can block messages with the '-' key, but that doesn't stop all messages. Besides, sometimes I do want to read them, but only when it suits me.

Rename the sound file.

And you can block ALL messages by pressing SHIFT + -

Hi Wsinda maybe the 1st reply is a little brief considering this is in the beginners section.
Renaming the sound files is not difficult , you need to rename "message.raw" and also "sysmessage.raw" both found in your data/snd folder, just right click and rename them to messageold.raw and sysmessageold.raw then close folders and restart LFS



The block messages key feels a little antisocial at times

I can't stand the beeps and really don't see the point in them because I guess most people get rid of them anyway.

maybe an option added to the audio menu to silence [or not] messages and or system messages ?

Thanks, that works. While at it, I also got rid of the like the applause at trace end.

TBH, I knew I could rename the sound files. It's just that I expected there'd be a menu option for this, and assumed I had overlooked it. The request in the thread that you linked proves there is no such option.
