I have the same problem usually, partly because the shape of the clamp heads is so round - it's hard to tighten them up enough. Desk here at uni is quite smooth+slippy, so need to find something to put between wheel and desk to stop the sliding.

Quote from N I K I :Whell folks its not that easy, I have driving for 2 years but just now I have mine fist WR. U must know all about setups and about that car and track, so U must be verz y inteligent

Try to find some track where are U good and that there is no WR by, biggie or, Floch or anyone who have more then 10 WRs. Try to fint some track where someone have 1-10 WR and brake it dude, go for it Kev, dont give it up .

Im going to drive now for MHR rank, later will be for WRs

I did that, had something like 5-7 WRs at one point.....1-2 weeks later and they were still all gone

Whilst I can see where vykos et all are coming from, understanding what they want....I agree with scawen about all this, and tbh didn't expect that from you, vykos.
Whilst scawen should (and does) listen to the community about stuff, sometimes things do get 'wrong priority' perhaps, but as has been said, it make sense to do all compatible 'low priority' things first sometimes, leaving more time for higher priority things without getting distracted by 'when can you implement this, i asked ages ago' stuff. Besides, it's their sim not ours, so they could not listen to the community at all (am sure you can think of some sims where that happens...) - we're all very fortunate to have the relationship with the devs that we do, and it's best if we do as much as we can to help them out, rather then constant whining about how we think they should do stuff

I think a good target to beat would be 1:22. If that's too easy, then 1:21
*goes back to wr attempt....1:20.04 and still improving*

Or when you're using shifter, and have it in 4th at the start of the race (without realising), and you're on the front row of the grid....

Don't need to get a E6600. E6300 is pretty cheap, and oc's like mad (roughly 80% oc on mine at max iirc. (1.86-3.43ghz)

Been driving LFS for over 4 years now, so lots of experience of it in different forms. In terms of distance driven, however, there's many people with much more then me.
Overall it doesn't take me long to get upto speed on any car/track combination (although it helps if it's not a combination I don't like), but my overall pace is never quite like that of the very top racers (have had some WRs, but they never last long - think 1 weeks is my record). I seem to improve in 'steps' - stay at the same pace for ages, then suddenly I 'step up' and am faster. Doesn't happen very often, but am getting close to pb pace already with this g25 (which I've had since yesterday, and not used wheel for ~7 weeks), so another step up atm I think

Imo the main method to improve in LFS (for me anyway) is not to stick to a particular car+track, but try and do a bit of everything, get in a wide range of experience, which can then be applied to a particular situation. Personally I advise some drifting to people struggling with the rwd cars, as it really does help to teach how to control the car when it starts to slide, or how to prevent it sliding when you feel is about to go.

Hmm....any particular track you want? Could try and do a lap for you (should be quick, but not unbeatable....only just got a wheel again, after 6-7 weeks of keyboard. So not full pace)

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but was a thought that came to me whilst looking for a particular server earlier.
Would be nice to have a text box somewhere on the server list page, in which you could enter part of a server name (in case you don't know the whole name, or want to see a group of servers run by one team), and it would act as another filter, just showing those servers.

How do I change from H shift to sequential?
turn the switch around, it gets just past half way, then stops. cant turn it futher. lever has moved back then, seems to want to go further back as i turn the switch, but it cant. :s

edit: ahhhh, push down stick...

Had a little play so far, all feels very nice. Strange as i havent used a wheel for >6 weeks tho . Slightly noisier turning one way then the other, which will hopefully solve itself sometime.

Can you not stretch to an intel e6300? Beats a lot of the A64s at stock at many things (even/close to FX62 at some stuff!), and amazing overclocking ability (cant think of any I've seen that don't reach 3ghz (with a capable motherboard + ram)....had mine upto 3.4ghz (1.86 stock), with a £15 cooler.

You should not rest foot on the clutch irl....

No G25 for me yet, but isn't coming directly to me (to a friend, who is bringing it to me....)

Quote from Tweaker :The LX6 is in now way even CLOSE to the Caterham that was in this hotlap. I am not sure exactly what model this Caterham was and/or if it was modified... but it was a trackday version, whereas we have ones with road tires... that could very well be the difference. But I am not quite sure this one in the video is as powerful as the LX6, but even lighter than the LX6.

IIRC the CSR was actually developed to be better on the road then the other Caterhams, and so isn't setup as well for track usage as the R3/4/500 etc, with more understeer I think.
