Where have the parents of the 7 year old been ?

I wouldn't let my daughter drive a quad-bike on public road, and even if so, I would look after her.

I think the quads aren't the problem, the problem are the parents, allowing her child to drive on a public road with it.

I've seen some cars in the lower classes for the Nordschleife 24h race, which are still street legal. They have an roll cage, a new smaller steering wheel (which we already have in LFS),an fire extinguisher on board, bucket seats and different seat belts. They also take the rear seats out. But that are all changes done to the interieur.

So I think LFS should be exactly that way, keeping most of the inside, add two or three things and we have an perfectly realistic racing car for small class or cup racing which you can still use to drive home

I made a new default Cromo wheel and a new grip Texture in a higher res.

Maybe someone will have a use for it

Don't forget to backup your files

EDIT:

Made some new colours for the stripe of the grip

Yellow, green and white

You'll find them in the attached .zip file

Quote from Bandit77 :the point is, (apart from FBM) having to lift the foot while using paddles to shift is a step closer to what you have to do in regular h-shifted cars in RL but - as a whole - represents a system that is not existent in real life. therefore the new semi-automatic or seq-shifting is - at least for some drivers - a step back in terms of realism and immersion compared to the "old" tiptronic-style semi-auto, which was at least something that does exist in RL.

if the new semi-automatic is supposed to decrease the advantage of paddle-shifting over h-shifting, then I think there would be less ugly ways.
for example a RL tiptronic (not ferrari gearboxes for 20'000 $) still shifts slower than a good driver. why not slow the semi-automatic down a bit for H-shifted cars? but please don't model a smart-gearbox :-).

Question: Why you don't use the sequential gearstick every Momo, DFP and G25 has ?

Somehow I don't get whats all that fuzz about the lifting is

I lift my right foot ever since LFS got the options to manually cut and blip, which was there since 0.1

I even edit the config file of games like rFactor or GTR2 to have to lift and blip on shifts

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I somehow got the feeling Tiff Nedell was driving as the Stig in this Episode

The only thing I really dislike about the new patch is the 45° limited sideview.

There should be a command or a slider to adjust it like you want to.

Quote from duke_toaster :Passworded.

Yesterday or the day before you had access to this Forum

Of course there wasn't anything new, but you HAD access... Now as you can see it's passworded which can only mean that the devs are now preparing this section

Quote from haelje :it's really funny to follow the "when does it come out"-discussion
for me the new car and the improvements sounds great and i think the population of lfs will increase with this patch but i would say, don't hope for the come-out today, i think some betatesters said, that it will not be released today

Yes, but I hope that "some betatesters" (they like "Heroes" a lot) might just want to trick people and then "Suprise, it's there"

No he said before Christmas, so it could be tomorrow, or at the 23th of december

But it's sure that it's somewhere in between

No way ?! That would be awsome

Maybe some kind of really low power Formula Car ?

Would be cool if we also could get some new physics changes... for example clutch heat and real sequential gearboxes

Quote from SamH :Sorry but you can't throw "A mouse is as good as a wheel if not better" at a wall and expect it to stick. I don't get why anyone would try.

I agree.

You couldn't get a affordable PC wheel that turns just like a real cars wheel. Unless you build one yourself.

But until then I'll rather stick to a device which come closest to the way a car is controlled.
And that means a PC steering wheel.

Quote from STROBE :My foot is capable, but I doubt my plastic pedals will appreciate it. A pair of plastic Logitech DFP pedals has nowhere near the durability of a real car pedal, and releasing and pressing the pedal fully as quickly as possible on every gear change will reduce the lifespan dramatically. I agree with what I saw Kev post somewhere - by all means give a slight advantage to those with the full 3-pedal & h-gate setups (afterall they should be rewarded for doing more work), but don't castrate those of us with two pedals who would rather not replace them every year and who have to rely on sequential paddle shifters and a button clutch.

I'm already alarmed by the rumour of the car stalling when you spin unless you manually put the clutch in. Fine, if you have a third pedal - after all it's instinct to dip your left foot and press the clutch. But how am I going to keep the clutch in by holding a button on a twirling, shaking wheel? Hopefully, such rumours will prove to be unfounded and there will continue to be concessions for those without the latest and greatest controller hardware.

I do manual lift offs ever since I got my DFP 2 years ago, an my accelerator still works pretty well, so that's no problem for your pedals...

But it also depends on how you will treat them. If you'll kick you DFP pedals (which isn't necessary, as you will be just as fast as if you just lift your foot) then they will take damage, but so will your sequential shifter knob if you will treat it like a real sequential shift stick

Quote from axus :"3g_shftffjo ff stick"

I'm guessing this is related to being able to use an FF joystick as an H-shifter? Would be awesome!

Scawen already had some pre S2 experiments (I think it was pre S2) with an FF Joystick as an shifter, so this might be an old translation string.
