I have both been on the server and told (I was not there) when disconnects happen.

Onetime the the whole machine crashed, another the server reset, but mostly it is just a dropped connection here and there.

I knew somebody would ask this sooner or later.

I just tried out the server myself. This time I connection via the internet instead of via the LAN. I got disconnected myself.

The message were:

OOS - RACE PLY
Lost Synchronisation with Host

Port 63392 is forwarded.

I forgot to mention that the server is setup for 12 connections and 12 cars in total.

I was thinking of trying to host a server from my super duper gaming machine, but have not done so yet.

My upload speed is 689 kbs, download is 1400 kbs. But I have seen the upload speed as low as 280 kbs.

The users that I know of who have had disconnect problems are from the US and Canada. I am in the US as well.

My internet connection is a cable modem with router.

I am hosting a dedicated server on a 500 Mhz with 128 MB RAM machine.

After people join the server they are disconnected. This doesn't happen all the time, but enough to the point that it is annoying and people will stop visiting the server.

I have been told that the message users see when disconnected are: "race col set" and "graphic mesh triangulation". I don't see anything that would be much help on the server console itself.

Can someone suggest what the issue maybe that is causing the disconnects?

I run @ 2048X1024 @75Hz AA & AF are set specific numbers I don't remember. I get about 40-60 FPS.

Personally, I don't do much oval racing. I have never found the right setup and line combination to make me competitive. But I am sure that overtime I will be get better.

But for now I stick mainly to the road courses. Lately I have started to enjoy the FOX and MRT. But my favorite cars are the LRF class.

As someone who works on installation routine for a living I would say that a true uninstall should remove all files, folders, shortcuts, and registry keys. But if there is the possibility of an re-install or an upgrade you have three options.

1) Do nothing remove the config file along with the rest of the application.
2) Prompt for back up of the config files so the user has access to them if they choose to re-install or upgrade.
3) Automatically back up the config files for the user and let them how where there are in a message box.

Personally I would go for option 2 and give the user the ability to specify where the backups should be created.

I think most people will tell you just use a third party app like WinAmp. This is also the easiest.

As an alternative if you must put them in game for some reason. In game music must be in ogg format. You can take your own music convert it copy it to the ogg folder under data then create a channel to play your music your way.

I have a Logitech MOMO Racing wheel. I never read or investigated what the Profiler could do for me.

I have read in other posts about the ability to bind wheel buttons to function keys and the like.

How do you do that? Can it be done in game or does it depend on the wheel that you are using?

I was wondering which driver you were using when this issue started 78.01 or 81.85?

I started to experience the samething after upgrading to 78.01. Has anyone tried the 81.85 drivers? Is it worth upgrading or should I downgrade to the 77.xx drivers?
