However, you should note that it is our internal policy not to send the PC out until the SC has collected the field, so that it doesn't get blindly mowed down by a car traveling at full speed.

I don't think I have read this anywhere before. Thanks for the explanation. This additional information, makes the 5 min or 2.5 min SG penalty overly harsh, IMO. May I suggest that a 60 sec SG would suffice. For which on most tracks would mean they would join the end of the car queue before the restart.

Can't really account for all the wudda, cudda, shudda. If you weren't held the extra time, most likely you would have never come into contact with the 06 as an example.

So you want to benefit from a rule that is being changed after the race is over? The results of the race should reflect the rules that were in place at the time the race took place.

Quote from DeadWolfBones :There was one chat that I saw in qualifying, from a driver who had run out of fuel asking what to do. This is acceptable.

  • Rules G2.1-2.3 have been rewritten. Starting in round 5, passing before the S/F line is forbidden, except in situations where a car has spun or is drastically off the pace.

Can I ask the rational behind this change? So on a track like Westhill, upon a restart when the leader crosses the S/F line I will still be either in or approaching the final turn, based on my previous experience and knowing where I will most likely be positioned. Your saying that I have to wait until I get to the S/F line to pass and/or build to race speed, even if I get the drop on the driver in front of me when the light goes green? I think you're are going to see more stupid crashes on restarts from drivers who don't want to violate the rule and subsequently cause an accordion. Additionally, this puts the front of the pack further out ahead.

Am I way off base here? A restarts seems pretty easy to me. The leader crosses the S/F line, the lights go green and everyone starts racing, regardless of there position on the track.

Quote from rcpilot :I'm sorry that the incident last race must've sucked for you, but there's no realistic way to fix it. Some drivers didn't have their game faces on and messed up, and you got caught out in it in the worst possible way. But people get caught out in messes through no fault of their own in racing all the time, all you can really do is hand out a penalty if there's a clear offender and go on. During the penalty discussions someone from S3R cited our incident with TDRT as an example to apply to their incident, ignoring the fact that we got a 5 minute penalty through someone else's actions which speaks highly against what's being discussed here. Although, in this case a rule change was made decreasing the 'stuck penalty' length although the new penalty will still hurt just as much as it originally hurt us in a normal race considering we had a 2nd SC under our penalty. But, in your case no viable rule changes are available. Giving someone back position from an incident on track just never happens outside of minor bumps where the two drivers can easily just swap back, and in this case you got hurt by that more than most.

Mainly, this talk of bias has got to go. DWB isn't the only one who makes decisions, and these admins volunteer 5 hours of their weekend to help run this thing giving up their ability to have fun driving for their respective teams. At some point, a decision has to be made and feel free to argue with the decision, but don't outright harass admins that are just here to help. Hell, if you want to just spy on us during the race, come on the vent server and watch as dwb comes out of the admin channel and says hello for a few seconds 2-3 times a race (and we transmit secret messages to eachother via mic switching morse code).

Very well said Corey. If everyone here presented there positions in the same well thought out and respectful manner this would be a better place.

Sure I feel victimized sometimes, but 24 hours after a race it is behind me and and I look the the next race. Who is up for a little bonding over pizza and beer?

With 2 small children that need to be shuttled back and forth from their weekend activities the 15:00 EST start time works out best for me. As it was I wasn't available until after 16:15 EST for round #3.

Quote from DeadWolfBones :There's not really an easy way to assign blame here. There's no single scapegoat. Once again it was our old friend the accordion effect, and you were the unfortunate victim.

The #15 left a slightly large gap to the car ahead coming to the green, then sped up to catch up. He then slowed down when he caught that car. The #26, behind him, also slowed down. The #16 behind him did not slow quickly enough and hit the #26. Both cars spun, and the #30 was collected by the #13 who also braked but not fast enough. This sent the #30 flying over the #14 who was well ahead, on his side, and through the barrier.

If there is one person most at fault, I would have to say it's the #16 driver, but really most everyone involved had a hand in it, either through action or (mostly inaction).

I have to judge this as a racing incident (though a very large one), similar to the restart mess at BL1.

I can only hope that drivers learn their lessons over time, give proper room, and maintain SC speed. It's the slowing down and speeding up that ultimately causes these accidents.

I'll let this die, but the rules state:
Quote :
2.5) A driver who spins during a SC period must rejoin the field at the end of the line. Any such incident will be investigated by the marshals. If the spin was not self-inflicted, it will result in a SG penalty for the offending car once racing resumes.

Somebody caused the spins.

The #30 was hit under safety car by the #14. This was a result of the #16 hitting the #26 and both of them ending up sideways on the track. I (#30) t-boned #16 then rear ended by #14. I was hit a second time in the air. I end up over the barrier on my side. End of race. Not good since it was due to others not following the rules.

I'll get the replay in a moment

Quote from DeadWolfBones :
3) For this and subsequent rounds, we have introduced a SC Alert command: "$SC". We encourage drivers to bind this command to a wheel button or to an ALT/CTRL+F-key bind. When used, the bind sends a visual alert to all connected admins with your car number, driver name, and current sector. Admins will then train their eyes on you and assess the situation.

This alert should be used if:
  • You've flipped.
  • You are out of fuel.
  • You are stuck in the sand.
  • You are involved in a wreck that involves a significant portion of the field or that is blocking the track

Great addition!

Low wind. I am fair skinned do you know what the UV index will be?

Ah, situational awareness. I think you could argue both sides of this one. Personally, I'd put the blame on the off-pace racer coming out of the pits. Best to let the admins give direction here.
