Well, it seems my G25 is suffering from the same dreaded reverse problem too now.
It was fine at first, yet all of a sudden it doesnt recognise reverse gear anymore...
I can see it goes into the correct slot, cause the sticks sits lower in R than it does in 6th.. But it just says 6th gear no matter what I try
I'd send it back for a replacement but I am kind of reluctant to do so, with my luck I'd end up with one of them that has left rotation über-noise, or shoddy finishing on paddles or leather etc.. (somehow I never get lucky with hardware, always something wrong)
And apart from this my unit is perfect aswell..
I read about opening it and fixing the problem... does anyone know if this can be done without anyone over at logitech spotting my DYI work? Or will I forfeit my warranty when I try to (careful and sensibly) fix it myself?
This must have been asked before but I could not find a clear answer yet.
How do I map (some of) the reserved keys to the buttons on a controler, in my case, a G25
I read something about a command like "/press (keystroke)"
Can someone tell me how to do this, or where to enter this, please?
Thanks in advance, sorry if I missed something that's obvious. I just couldn't find it with the forum search or by reading the docs that came with LFS.
I don't like the idea, and I will not use it if it is available.
But I would not really mind if it would be there, although there should, as mentioned before, only be certain aspects forced, so that people can adjust the things necessary to suit their controller. Unless of course it means I have less and less servers to choose from if this, God forbids, becomes popular... (which I douby honestly)
I don't think this makes for a fair chance for every driver at all, it is indeed all about which setup suits which driving style.
I agree with that, trouble is, most all RL racing drivers are better than the average Joe playing LFS, so you could be very good at not touching someone whilst racing very close, the other guy has to be on the line and consistent too.
I often see guys go off their lines 3 or 4 times, back and forth, left and right, just to keep me behind them. I don't know bout other forms of racing, but for instance in F1 they can only leave their line in defence once.
So I often think "why the heck did he do that??" when I try to overtake someone and he makes a weird move that makes us brush up against each other.
I also get overtaken a lot "NFS" style.. I mean, they plant themselves into your side and use you as a sort of moving guard rail.
Or they just rub and bump during fights, thinking this is how racing works.
Then when I say something about it, they would go "this is how it works, I see that in DTM all the time" or something..
I agree on the sincerity point too, but I personally don't care wether someone types it, or uses a bind.
I use a bind, which says "sorry, my bad!" and is used for the small incidents during a fight, like when I bump into someone slightly, but which does not cause someone to go off track.
As said before, that's just to show I am not deliberatly racing aggressive, but just had a small error in judgement there.
If I should cause a crash which forces someone off track, then chances are I am off too, or at least damaged so that my race is over really.
Then I would take the time to type a detailed apology.
But that would also mean I have to take the kb from besides me, and put it on my lap, and then type, as in my wheel setup, there's no room for the kb, so I have it lying sideways on my left (which is why binds are the only way to type when racing at speed)
Overall, I am sincere every time I use the bind and if the other person thinks I am not, well.. that's too bad then..
Normally I wouldn't have commented on these things at all, but I guess I am still a bit shook up from what happend the other day.. which might influence my judgement a bit...
I was standing at the bus stop next to a guy whose wife has a brother that knows a guy whose sister works together with a woman that has a nephew whose friend knows a girl that had spoken to a guy who had heard a story from a woman who had been talking on the phone to a man that actually knows someone whose dog saw a guy getting roundhouse kicked by Chuck Norris
So you can image that hits close to home... I'm still in shock..
okay so "stole" was out of place, but you seem to think that the money you paid is for the current development aswell as the content you got.
The devs don't owe you anything, so why the "time that we ask something of them" remark? you GOT what you were entitled too when you paid.
You also state that "nobody gives a turd" ..Well I do actually.
So nuff said
then:
You go ahead and attack them again (you speak of personal attacks, I have not called you a name yet have I?)
So it's obvious people come to the devs denfense.. had you expected differently?
So yeah, you started it, had you used a bit milder approach then people would have been nicer in their respons I think.
How do I do a 180 on you, I dont attack you, I express my opinion, which is what all of us are doing, right? .like.. discussion? public forum?
As I said, you are bored with LFS, good.. sorry to hear that,
so go play your new #1 game, I was sincere there, I hope you enjoy it
Well you brought it upon yourself when you started it. You basically called the developers lazy slackers that sold out and stole your money and now you don't get any extra content fast enough.
imho you are wrong. because you paid for the content at hand, which you could look up on their site. You knew what it would be, an unfinished sim.
Ok, so you are bored with it, fair enough. It happens.
I am not, I am loving it, and if there would never be another update,
I would still play it for a long time.
Heck there are games that are much older, have cost me more money, and that have had no update at all, which I still play too.
But if you place such an opinion, and a tad strongly formulated as you did, on a public forum, in the Discussion section, then discussion is what you will get, no matter if you "asked for it" or not..
There is no need to say the community is crap, there are always some trouble makers, but you cant go calling everyone names
I hope you guys will have a lot of fun with Test Drive, and who knows, maybe we'll see you again when S3 comes around..
If you put your opinion on a public forum with a team logo and team advertising and a team tag then you speak as a team member and therefor your opinion will reflect upon the team as a whole..
been in the team-based online gaming long? smart one!
So you tell him he keeps it real, yet your team mate stated the above, as the HK opinion.. and that is basically the definition of selling out, as in NOT keeping it real..
I have something similar in mind, tho I will make it dual purpose,
to accomodate either the G-25 or my HOTAS for the flight sims I play.
So I will have a similar tray on the left side aswell to hold the throttle quadrant of my HOTAS. (joystick/throttle combo)
I have ordered a G-25. Unfortunatly I have to wait a bit longer than I anticipated.
As I have plans to build a race rig, I was thinking I might aswell get that started,
so that i could hook up the G-25 as soon as it gets here.
So I looked for some specifications but so far I cannot find the dimensions.
Can any of you G-25 owners perhaps do me a big favor and measure a few things for me? Or does anyone allready have the dimensions from building a rig yourself? Or perhaps the dimensions can be found somewhere online yet I just haven't found them, in which case you might point me in the right direction?
It would really help me out!
I have included a picture showing which dimensions I would like to know.
I would like it to be in cm, but if that is a problem inches are ok, I could always do the math.
It also does not have to be very accurate.. it does not have to be precise to the mm. I am building it out of wood (because I am not skilled at working with metal) and I will have the trays the units sit on, so to speak, a bit bigger than the units are anyways
He sounds like the type of chap that just can't be reasoned with anyways, no matter how you back it up.
So as you say he's a "friend of a friend" rather than a friend of yours,
why not just put a "LFS S2 licensed drivers only" sign on your door and keep him out of it!
You could let him try LFS on a decent wheel setup (if you have one)
If he's ever been anywhere near a car he should feel that LFS is superior
to GT4 by miles..
It might have been Shift+F which is "Turn off all screen info"
I'm guessing it toggles between on and off, it doesn't say that and
I have never hit it myself, but I'm pretty sure it would
as the F is very close to the R, which you use to vote for a restart,
that might be a safe bet.
Also if you check your "docs" folder, in the LFS directory, you'll
find the list of keystrokes (in several languages).
Those come in handy sometimes
Yes well of course I don't just brake every time it says "yellow flag"
Usually you can see what's going on directly or on the map.
But if I see a car spin off and can see that it will come back on the track
then I'd lift.
And a lot of times someone behind me does not, goes by me, crashes into the allready spinning car, takes out me in the process, and then 3 people sit in the pits waiting for the next race, instead of one car losing a few positions and no crash at all.
I just think a lot more people would stay in the race and not end up in the pits waiting for 10 laps to get back into it if part of the hunger for victory would be swapped towards driving sensible.
And it's mnot like obeying blue flags and being carefull with yellow flag situations would require a certain skill beyond the ones you need to race others in the first place, some people just don't wanna stick to rules if it means they can get some advantage out of it I think.
so yeah I do agree, it's hard to implement rules for lifting off the throttle indeed, sometimes it's not a real accident at all that says "yellow flag" on your screen, but for the overtaking there should be imho, with of course, a time pause till it's triggered so the position can be given back after an "accidental" overtaking
