usually between 65 and 70, with the custom view a tad bit forward so that I sit right up on the dash.

This way I look over the top of the wheel and see the dials and it feels most real this way.

I cannot see the entire side mirror this way, but I have a TrackIR device and a quick glance does the trick, again, feels most realistic to me.

Quote from Patussay :i was thinking on buy a G25, but reading that a lot of G25 are having some troubles scares me

There's no reason to be reluctant to buy the G25 just because some people report flaws.

There will always be flaws when a company produces a new product.
The vast majority of G25 users have no issues or complaints.
(I know a few people IRL and I am the only one with a defected one, the reports on a forum like this tend to be more towards the negative usually)

Also a lot of people never post on this forum at all, and those that have a perfectly working one may not even open a G25 issue thread.

If you happen to get a defected unit then Logitech will replace it, it is my experience that their customer support is very good and they will go to great lengths to make you happy with your product, specially when it comes to these more expensive pieces of kit.

Even though I have a defected one I am still very happy with it and it is the best wheel you can buy for this amount of money.

Just for the record...

Tapping and hitting someone is NOT part of normal racing, racing is NOT a contact sport.

Sure a slight tap can happen in the heat of battle, but if you can allready call it a "collision" or a "crash" as you do, then it's way beyond what could be accepted as a "racing incident"

Just my 2 cents, Lord knows I have hit people (everyone makes mistakes) and the online skill level in race sims is way below the race drivers on the real life tracks, just say sorry, give the position back, and learn from it. (I am neither very fast nor very experienced, but always my goal is to drive clean and learn from those that are better)

Mine is a bit noisier to the left, right from the start, but it is well within acceptable limits and does not seem to get any worse.

Sadly mine has developed the reverse gear problem. I cannot shift into reverse. I still haven't got round to sending it back for a replacement, I'm having too much fun with it.

Haha... I hadn't read that 'taking the passenger seat out' part yet..

That's just hilarious..

I wonder how he is going to be "pickin up chicks" now
(well that's what stated as one of his interests in his public profile)

Seriously though, if this is your day to day car, and you seriously want to take it out, as that "shiznit" is to heavy.. then you really really need to get to grips with reality my friend.

If you feel the weight loss from a passenger seat gets you that edge you need to get faster through every day traffic... then you need to be locked away. Fruitcake.

Welcome from another converted flight simmer

My Hotas has been gathering dust ever since I came across LFS

I better get some dust covers come to think of it, it's highly unlikely the flight controls are going to be used any time soon.

For me it was mostly IL2 and F4 though, but some FS2004 every now and then too.

I'm not gonna bother reading all the posts, I am just gonna say what I think about the OP's attitude

IMHO.. you're an idiot, buddy!

If they happen to suspend your license AGAIN, then I hope it's for good, cause you've got a screw loose there, and people like you should not be driving untill you've had proper psychiatric help.

A guy with the same attitude that used to live in my town killed two girls when he was overtaking a car in a spot he thought was "perfect" for it, being a superior driver and all, and having lots of experience in sim racing (yeah like that compares to real life traffic illepall ).

No matter how good you think you are, humans were not meant to drive cars in the first place. Our brains are equipped to handle situational changes and act accordingly at speeds no higher than running. That is why there are traffic accidents.. you don't see many joggers smash into each other in the park do you?
You can't "know what will happen in 10 seconds" ..not in traffic, total BS.

So you've just been lucky so far that nobody else around you suddenly makes a mistake and gets in your way, not too mention the fact that pushing the limits on the public roads will eventually make you lose it too, hell even the best racing drivers on the tracks lose it sometimes, they just wreck their cars, not somebodies loved one in the process. It's like fischfix says, statistically you risk it more and more every day.

I've seen plenty of your type, and a few have been buried before the age of thirty, one is disabled for life, and another one has to live with the fact that he killed two people.

Catch you later dude, say in 10 years time... If you're still around then.

Oh and I am not going to bother with the cliché "Drive fast online not on the streets" because I honestly think you are having a rather hard time telling reality and fiction apart. I think it would be wise if you gave up racing on the computer and buy yourself a bicycle and go out into the woods and inhale some of that stuff called oxygen for a change. Using games as an excuse.. illepall

I guess I should go out now and shoot people, after all, I play a lot of first person shooters aswell.

(sorry if I come across a bit harsh, other readers, but I knew one of the two girls and I hate these kind of attitudes a lot)

Same for me..

All the cool guys at school did it, which actually... makes me wonder why I did.... oh well

But seriously, I don't think anyone has ever purposly started because it tastes so good, cause all smokers know it takes time to get used to it, hell even inhaling makes you almost throw up at first.

It's peer pressure, 99,99% of times I'd say.
In one form or another.

yes you are wrong... well IMHO, you are entitled to your own of course

I don't want to get all political and I don't know how you look at the whole Kurdish situation but there are Kurdish refugees living in my street, and I have heard stories from them that make you sick to your stomach..

And we've all seen the photos of the mangled bodies of innocent men, women and children, gassed to death..

In 1988 alone, he murdered (well, ordered the killings) of 182.000 Kurds, and he burnt more than 4000 villages to the ground.. (source: wiki, not made up by myself)

This is only a small part of the sick and diabolical stuff that happend under his regime... And people claim he does not deserve to die? Hanging is barbaric? as opposed to gassing babies???

I'd say he got the easy way out. I am not a fan of death sentences, but some people just deserve to die for what they did, and this is one of those cases, though I respect the opinions of those that do not agree.

Quote from racefactory :
oen thing i was wondering... if you are doing heel and toe downshifting... how can you make it so the brake doesnt have much travel?? becuz if it had tons of travel that means that when it is depressed you wouldnt be able to heel the accelerator properly becuz the brake is so much further forward in the braking position than the accelerator in the idle position????

Well if you have two sets of pedals, you can have the two left ones be clutch and brake, and have that set sit a bit more towards you.
Then the left one of the right set of pedals, which is further away from you (a bit) could be the accelerator, so then when you press the brakes, it will line up better with the gas pedal. I've never tried this of course, I don't know if that would be any good, I do know with the G25 I am finding it pretty tricky to heel toe.

I tried that too with an old sidewinder joystick before I got the G25, but it was indeed a bit weird going left and right, It was a good laugh for a few laps but it didn't quite work out. It's now gonna be cannibalized to be my e-brake

Here you go, I was fiddling around in PSP anyway, so I thought I'd make it for you.

I took the liberty of replacing the sparco decal with a new one with a better resolution, I hope you don't mind and I hope this is what you had in mind, kind of..

Quote from racefactory :how can you join 2 sets together exactly???

Well you don't really have to join them together.
LFS will recognise and handle more than one controller, so you could
plug in two wheels, and put the two pedal units side by side.

With a bit of sawing, glueing, taping, etc.. you could indeed physically join the
two pedal sets together too

Quote from racefactory :and wat does AFAIK mean?

AFAIK is short for "As Far As I Know"

did you ever see 5 year olds listening in on the pitradio?

Real life racing is done by adults, amongst other adults

The guys on the pit radio know each other, and if something goes wrong and the driver swears on the radio they all know it's nothing personal in the end (mostly) and the other drivers and their children don't hear it.

It's not the same as randomly calling people offending names online just because you think you have the right to say what you want to who ever you want, your analogy is dead wrong.

Sure, I curse when I get wrecked, but only if I am alone in the room, and not using chat, just out loud to myself.. by the time I grab my keyboard I'll be done cursing

Of course I would still tell someone what I want to say, but you can be very strong in your opinion and get across that you are really unhappy with someones behaviour without cursing and swearing too, there's more then enough options to get your point across in a polite way.

Profanity is a big problem all over the internet, in all online gaming or simming you'll get it, and it annoys me a lot.

Even in real life, I am sometimes amazed at how some of the the young people of today have turned into swearing little hooligans.

Whenever I walk down to the supermarket or whatever, I'd be passing some youngsters that like to hang out all over the place and park their scooters and bicycles so that they're sometimes blocking off the entire pavement. So when you ask them kindly to move over, you'd get the finger, and are told to go "beep" yourself. And not just to people my age, but to senior citizens aswell, just a total lack of respect.

Hello? these are 13 or 14 year olds, I am a 110 kilo, 29 year old bloke with the ability to snap their necks without breaking into a sweat...

I blame the internet/gaming/television for this, in my time we just did not act this way. (of course the parents play a very large role here too)

So yeah, profanity filters, auto kicking, all for it
Those little hooligans won't be better for it, but it will keep others from being "poisoned" (further)

No warnings, other then in the welcome message, and mandatory for the whole community and ALL servers! ,You swear a lot? tough luck! that has no place on public servers and as said before the kids that hang around our pc's checking out our racing, or racing themselves, don't need that stuff!

If you cannot understand this, then sorry to say this, but you're not very intelligent IMHO.

I don't need some idiot keybinding messages full of profanity to throw at me after I make an honest mistake on the track even before I can reach for the keyboard and apologise, there's much more to being a "gentleman racer" than racing alone!

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it's the young people that do this most, but when I look at some peoples birth dates and compare that to language, well.. I just come to some conclusions, though there's enough old bumwinds out there too that swear like a flipping docker..
(i'm not just talking about the LFS community btw, I am part of a bunch of gaming/simming communities and overall it's not all that bad over here)

Well that's my 2 cents anyway
