Yes well of course I don't just brake every time it says "yellow flag"

Usually you can see what's going on directly or on the map.
But if I see a car spin off and can see that it will come back on the track
then I'd lift.

And a lot of times someone behind me does not, goes by me, crashes into the allready spinning car, takes out me in the process, and then 3 people sit in the pits waiting for the next race, instead of one car losing a few positions and no crash at all.

I just think a lot more people would stay in the race and not end up in the pits waiting for 10 laps to get back into it if part of the hunger for victory would be swapped towards driving sensible.

And it's mnot like obeying blue flags and being carefull with yellow flag situations would require a certain skill beyond the ones you need to race others in the first place, some people just don't wanna stick to rules if it means they can get some advantage out of it I think.

so yeah I do agree, it's hard to implement rules for lifting off the throttle indeed, sometimes it's not a real accident at all that says "yellow flag" on your screen, but for the overtaking there should be imho, with of course, a time pause till it's triggered so the position can be given back after an "accidental" overtaking

Althought I am not a very fast racer (yet), or an experienced one, I try my very best not to be in the way of faster guys and to drive clean and fair.

I respect blue flags. I'll even throw myself into a gravel trap if it means the group of race leaders won't have trouble getting by me and I lift off the throttle and drive safer when I get to a yellow flag situation.

But why is it that I rarely see anyone lift off the throttle at yellow flags?

I mean, I'd be racing someone in the mid field, nice close racing, good fight. . and someone ahead would spin of crash...

So I lift off the throttle (and as far as I know, this is the RULE for a yellow flag) and go somewhat slower, to avoid whatever danger lies ahead.

The guy behind me would go "thanks!" and just keep on the throttle and fly past me.

Of course many times resulting in even worse crashes, but that's besides the point.

Is there some form of punishment in the game for disobeying (any) flags?

In real life, if I am not mistaken, you'd get punished for going on the limit under yellow and overtaking someone during yellow, right?

If there is no such rule in LFS, will something like this be implemented to enforce this rule in the future?
It's annoying to lose positions, just because you played by the rules.

Shift+N mutes everything, so when you use that with CSR you would not have any tyre skidding sounds etc..

I figured I had to tinker with the ingame sound settings a bit, but I thought maybe I had overlooked some option to override the ingame engine sound or something like that.

I Got it set up pretty good now after playing with it a bit..

Why do the engine sounds sound as if I am constantly driving through a tunnel?

I read something about blending the LFS sounds in with the new ones,
is this what I am hearing? Two seperate engine sounds at the same
revs so it sounds like a tunnel, or driving in close formation with another car?

Sorry if it is a silly question, but how do I choose one instead of having both played as engine sound? I would think by default I would hear only the replacement sounds, but I could be wrong of course.

(There's nothing funny going on as far as windows sound setup is concerned btw, it's fine when I run it without the custom sounds)

any help would be much appreciated

I had a similar thing today,

I was coming from the back of the grid and in T1 the people at the
front wiped each other out.

I went up into 3rd position and the rest of the 6 lap race I spent
on my own, far behind number 2 and far ahead of number 4

Half way thru the race I suddenly notice I am not in 3rd position any more in the player list on the lower right hand side.

The guy now running 3rd was the same guy I passed in T1 and I am
sure because I had a friggin hard time to avoid him when those people
spun out together.

He went into the pits, a few times actually, during the race. Yet all of a sudden he was in 3rd position.

Even tho the player list had me on 4th position, the position indicater in
the top right hand corner still said I was 3rd.
Only after I finished the text in the top left said I came in 4th

I did not pass anyone and no one passed me the whole race, so there is no way he could have finished before me.

I thought it was a bit weird

Well atm I am using my old and badly worn Logitech Formula Force GP
But the G-25 is ordered, payed for and on it's way... can't wait to get my greasy paws on it

but..

About the 900 degrees of rotation.
Do I understand correctly you can also set it to less rotation?
and if so, are there several modes to pick from, or can you
put it to whatever you like?

Cockpit of course....

with the added bonus of a TrackIR device, which takes care of the situational awareness.. plus makes it so much more immersive.

I'm really pleased with the TIR in LFS too, in some other race sims
it feels a bit awkward, but the tracking in LFS feels really natural.

With the lights off and the sound cranked up, you'll get sucked in
right away...

I made a second one, kind of based on the first, but my
favorite brand of beer as main sponsor and a changed colorscheme.

Hello everybody!

I'm new here and I thought I'd introduce myself to you all..

I bought a license yesterday after trying out the demo and
I'm loving it!

atm I'm doing the training and practising to get the hang of things
but I hope to see some of you soon out there on the tracks!
