Something I would like to see implemented is a "favourites" option to accompany the "list games" and "join specific" options. Most people would probably play on the same servers repeatedly. Currently, if you want to jump from one favourite server to another, you need to list all the servers (or stop listing them when the server you are looking for is listed)
If there was a favourites option, you could add your choice of servers to the list of favourites, and only have to refresh those servers, thereby reducing the time spent waiting for the entire list to update before you can choose the server you want to join.
I suspect that this would probably reduce load on the master server as well.
I think this car is one of the few examples that I have seen where form follows function, but the function has created a beautiful form. Peoples' perceptions of aesthetics are obviously subjective, but in my opinion this car looks stunning.
not to bash demo users (relating to another topic altogether), but why put such an utterly useless, stupid and insulting post into the thread, when you wouldn't even be able to play with any new cars if they are added to future versions of the game. (unless you decide to buy a licence...)
Before you insult the amazing work produced by others, you should consider what you would think if somebody said that about a project that you have devoted yourself to for such a long time.
Edit: Mods, please remove the post made by this idiot, and others relating his post, it is off topic, and embarrasing.
I played the demo on and off for about six months before I decided to buy the full game - I did not have much time to play and occasionally did a few hotlaps to try improve my best times with the demo combo. Only after a few months I decided to play online and see what it was like, and within a month of playing on the demo servers I bought the full game. If I had not enjoyed my time on the demo servers, I would not have bought the game.
Luckily I did not visit the forums before purchasing the game. If I had read this thread, or any similar one for that matter, it would probably have discouraged me from joining this online community.
I'd like to start a complaint thread about people who spend their time complaining on the forum, and chase them all back onto the track!
I'd like to see more people on the servers, enjoying what we already have from this great product, instead of spending so much of their time complaining and asking for more, but thats just my opinion.
/me ducks to get out of the way of stuff flying towards my head
At least there is one positive way of looking at this - the more exploits these lamers find in alpha, the more holes will be patched in the final version
I'd love to know how cheaters reason, and how they justify it to themselves - I hope that in this case, he has only cheated himself out of £24...
I think you are right there - If they thought carefully enough about it to hide it, they would probably have the sense to decide against doing it at all in the first place.
This project looks incredible - similar to the early stages of the Britten Motorcycle. I hope it is just as successful, and yes, I would like to see this car in LFS as well.
This guy was just stoopid, flaunting the fact that he was cheating. The scary question is how many people are using similar cheats, but just using it enough to give them an upper hand over competition, without being this easy to spot?
I normally build a new system once a year, so I built myself a monster system last year, and my only hardware upgrade for LFS has been a g25 (money well spent imho)
Unless Microsoft hurry and remove Vista from beta status, ie release sp1, I suspect I might skip the yearly build this time though, purely because there are no new games coming out that I really want to play and this system handles LFS and all my work applications perfectly. In this case, LFS will save me money.
BUT if you work on the TIME = MONEY equasion, LFS has cost me a fortune so far, and I have only had it for a month! (still money well spent though )
Thanks for answering. I don't understand your reasoning though - if you wanted a positive reponse, you could have written everything you could do to break in into a report to help the devs make things more secure, or even possibly get you to help make things more secure - much more professional. I suspect that the results of the route you chose to follow will be far less in your favour.
Before you leave, could you please post here what you were hoping to achieve by doing this. I have been curious for quite a while as to what drives somebody to break in to someone else's server, despite the fact that they are breaking the law, with no apparent reward to justify it.
um, what is urgent about this question? I just waisted 30 seconds of my life reading a thread that I would not have opened, had it been titled "Where does LFS come from?"
AAAARGH, now I'm replying to it as well...illepall
Getting the percolator going works pretty well for me - you have to walk across the room with a jug full of water, AND that filter can get quite saturated and heavy from the previous pot. Very Strenuous.
Seriously though, since I am currently playing with a gamepad, if I don't stretch and loosen my thumbs, I get strange twitches in my thumbs in the middle of my first race, normally on the (weaker) throttle/brake thumb, with disasterous consequences.
I normally just move them about until I can feel the muscles loosen up a bit before joining the first pickup race for the day.
I am generalising quite a bit, some of the midfield races I have had were the best races I have had so far - I prefer battling for a position, rather than just drive undisturbed.
I agree and disagree with you there - every time I start from position 1 - 5, t1 seems ok, and then there is a nice midfield battle, position 5 -10 just seems as if it is not worth it, I'd rather start from the back or from the pits, end up in the same position after the carnage, but with a car that is not broken...
all the midfield racers normally get taken out in t1, and restart from the pits... I'm one of the slow guys at the back watching the midfield self-destruct
I found forza fun to play vs a friend who has an xbox - not a sim, but not noticably arcadey, pgr was too arcadey for my liking, but It was cool that I could race through the city where I live
