Announcement for Dutch racers:

End of Days 2008 - LFS (maandag 22 december 2008)

20.00 - 20:15 - Kwalificatie
20:20 - 20:45 - Race 1 (ronden 13) Kyoto National
- Korte pauze
20:50 - 21:05 - Kwalificatie
21:10 - 21:35 - Race 2 (ronden 20) Blackwood Reversed

Wees er snel bij de EoD race is 22ste. Reageer in dit topic of schrijf je hier in!

Quote from SamH :He's a brilliant coder, IMHO. It might equally have been Vic that wrote the script. Or it could be a new movie feature altogether.. I've no clue

If its not a new movie feature, then it will be available as well in my 'Car Focus' application, kinda a reference: http://vimeo.com/2509710
I've uploaded some other LFS Camera features on vimeo as well. Release date would be next year though.

Quote from amp88 :Does this only work with static camera locations or does it work if you manually move the 'camera'. What I mean by that is if you're in Shift+U and you're manually following the car. Will the application still focus on the car then?

The spot you picked on the track is static. As for now, you can't move the camera manually. And this would be a nice feature aswell, I'll look into it.
Quote from kamo2000 :Very nice app there. Can you give us some estimates like when will it be realeased ? This year? next ?

Like I said, its kinda a prototype and it hasn't got the necessary checks for errors. I think it would be ready next year.

I'm not satisfied how LFS replicate the camera position information. For example if your move the camera from position A to position B. LFS speeds up the movement to position B and when its almost at position B, the camera movement slows down to stop at position B. This looks kinda strange when you placed several cameras across the track and you let the camera move to each position.

Quote from THE WIZARD DK :more wicked you got my tag on the screen.... wiiii my first video...lol...

huh, care to explain?

Edit: I've updated the link in the first post: http://lfs.finalgear.com/download/carfocuscircle.avi (4MB no sound). A camera path where a few cameras are places around the car. The mouse is not used to control the camera!
Another update: http://vimeo.com/2450043 Fixed camera locations around the track. (The switch to the cameras isn't that great:P)

LFS CarFocus (Broadcaster/Camera addon)
FireFox86

LFS CarFocus is a LFS addon to control the cameras in LFS. CarFocus can be used by movie makers to help with their movie scenes to create some nice fluent camera movements.
There are many features in CarFocus, the general idea is that the user can change the camera settings on the fly while keeping the right focus at a driver/car. By camera settings are: FOV, Roll and Heights.

CarFocus has also a highly timed based camera control: CameraPath
With this you can save specific camera sequences and restore those later. The interface of the Camerapath is very simliar to the Flash timeline, where you can slide cameras back and forth to the right point when they should be activated.

The last updates are mainly focused at the usage for broadcasts.
CarFocus has another application called CarFocus Broadcaster. You can control the LFS cameras via CarFocus Broadcaster.

A picture says more than 1000 words and a movie contains more than 1 picture, so here are a few videos of CarFocus 'in action': http://vimeo.com/album/59509

LFS CarFocus Downloads, Manual and more
  • Here you can find the latest downloads (when released) of both applications.
  • Detailed explanation of each feature and possible usage.
  • Possibility to report bugs/ideas ect

[LFS.NL.6] Dutch Championship starting on September 11th

Because the LFS.NL.6 championship is for dutch drivers only, i'll continue in Dutch:

Beide races duren ongeveer 30 a 40 minuten.

I don't have time to make it into a private stats tool. The best thing is to let you server connect to the relay server. Enter here your server info and you connected! If you worry about the security or privacy, just passworded your server with a Spectatorpass.

Victor released a more graphic display of LFS host connected to the relay. http://www.lfsworld.net/remote/
I'll will update RS with features for leaque races, more an statistics tool, to help racers with their leaque race. Instead of a nice graphic interface. Victor did an amazing job , use that!
  • Fixed driver swap. RS did hang when a driver swap took place in a populated server.
  • Race info, column now sorted on position
  • Give total time to the next driver in a driver swap action
  • Fixed possible crash on Autocross layouts.
Download version 0.2.5 here ( if you want to create an mirror, go ahead!)
I might add the 'Track Images' from the smx files made by Scawen.

Quote from SpikeyMarcoD :ashame about race-specator then? But this is great!

Tbh, I don't have any time todo research and development for the 2D/3D spectating part in RS and now i'm not going to bother I'll keep RS updated with features special for leaque races.
To keep track of the total time/Lapcount, total pitstops ect. So more an statistics tool, rather than a full graphic version.

I've seen that, Victor did a nice job. Race Spectator doesnt really need a graphic display now. So I won't put time into it.
I'll release stable version tonight.

Looks familiar Are you changing/converting the values of the (x,y,z) triangles? if so, don't

Projects:
Race Spectator
Status: low, mainly bugfixes, trying to display the full info from an pth file. An seperate project is to display the smx file. And put an model/mesh on the track. If that works then RS will be updated.
RS Java applet, kinda a sub project of the bigger brother. A java applet, for displaying info from a LFS host through the relay server. Status: very low.

Server Control App
An server application to control our demo server. Developping with Burnsy. Progress: medium

I'll try to get a stable version out soon. With updated pth files. If you can't wait till then, you can download them here.
Kitty: Yeah i know. The displaying of the grids is kinda messy tbh. I'll have a look in a way to display the info better. Without the nasty scroll.

Right
Can anyone see if the driver swap bug appears now?
Race Spectator Beta (don't overwrite the old files, keep a backup)
Some feedback about the windows/position/information would be nice

Yeah, indeed. Its was kinda messy to zoom and move the track. If you zoom now it automatically centers the track.
To display a bit more 'track' information i'm trying to display the info of each node.
Green line should be the DriveLeft and the blue line should be DriveRight. So it should give a good indication of the drivable area of the track. Dunno why its intersecting in some places

Maybe this should be in the programming area, anyway
