Quote from Jakg :i know it can be done - but it's hard.

On Sunday i did a league race with the new TBO's, and the FXO could barely keep up with the XRT, and the same XRT could barely keep up with the RB4's - i know its temporary to remove FXO dominance, but the XRT and RB4 need to be closer, and the FXO needs to be closer and yet still slightly slower

Your right about the xrt, i think round bl gp in the hands of top drivers (which im not) the xrt could do 23.6's and fxo 23.9's in race trim, however i dont think i found a rb4 that i couldnt beat last night (i may be wrong)

I find the XRT very dificult to drive because in the other rear wheel drive cars that i drive (FOX and FO8) i very much lean on the rear end, this is not posible on the xrt as it has a very odd oversteer/yaw feeling to me, i tried a whole week to like at, but i learned to be 'fastish' but i just dont like it

Im find the FXO really fun, just a pity about the exagerated performance difference from standstill.

I find it quite consistant, id also like to rub jakg nose in it, look it can be done :

And his dads car is pants (or he is homer simpson size with the reactions of nelson mandela) for drag strip racing.

Scawen, sorry for this, im knicking myself already for posting it, but ive got to get it out my system <possible improvement post warning>

The new persistant restart is great apart from (and maybe we will get used to it) when the old system would time out, it was like a reminder that you and others were trying to restart, now you can look in the connection list to see who is restarting, that is great but i rarely have the connection list up.

What im suggesting (and its probably going to take too long for patch x) is that when a vote is going the place where the first line of chat is, is to put a 'Vote: | Restart |' and fill the background (like between my bars with colour to see how near the vote is to succeeding, if there is a vote for qually too just add like this 'Vote: | Restart || Qualification |' and get rid of the 'x has voted for restart' spams that fill the chat instead pust This 'Vote: | Restart+1 |' or 'Vote: | Restart-1 |' for cancel or pit etc.

Im really sorry for posting this so late, but as you were directly changing this code the itch took me, feel free to hurt me in many ways.

heres mine:

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 300
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1500
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 203.21
0 - 60 (Secs) : 4.93

Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.63
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 102.48
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.23
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 105.73

thats only a touch of the prodrive official figures (prodrive have a faster 0 - 60 of 4.6) of 13.44

edit:

i put your dads figures in (presuming that its rwd and he is not homer simpson size)

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 260
Weight without Driver (KG) : 876
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 301.57

Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.31
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 112.53

edit2:

i cant find a 220 bhp car in lfs (looking at official site)

are you talking of the xr gt turbo at 245, anyway heres the figures for it

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 245
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1224
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 203.38

Quarter miles depend a LOT on the ability to launch, thats why subaru's can get under 13.5's even though they are a 1500kg car with 300 bhp and transmission drag like treacle and aero efficiency of a brick.

PS older style subs are 1300 kg's (thats why they can do quarters in under 13 if up to 300 bhp)

So summary of this chaotic post is if you can get a car to launch superfast and have low trasmission losses and good aero then i cant see anything wrong in a 13.6 for a 2 wheel drive heavish car with 220bhp (although it is very optimistic )

Quote from tristancliffe :Because it's not very accurate in transient cases, or when following another car (as the wakes of cars are vastly more complicated than the idealised CFD modelling). But I don't have hard proof, no. Last year a friend of mine was attempting to model a tyre in CFD, and spoke to various F1 teams about it, for his masters degree. He was told (and they might have been lying) that it's not something they can do themselves accurately, so anything he did would have to be fairly gross approximations. If F1 teams/tyre manufacturers can't model flexible tyres in use with bodywork around it from an aerodynamic standpoint, I can't see LFS doing so.

He should of spoke to someone else apart from honda f1

You could well be right as i havent been driving any cars with a speed limiter for quite a while, probably not since V

I will test tonight (ive got a W patch ver still)

UPDATE:

Problem is in W also, unfortunatly i dont have a V version, but i drove the FOX lots then and cant remember have any probs.

Got my first bug.

For some reason any button or key assigned to 'speed limiter' is randomly working, eg 1 out of 3 presses does nothing, this does not matter if it is keyboard or wheel.

Keyboard: G15
Wheel: G25

Ive have no keyboard profile for lfs (and have tryed switching the profiler off)
I have a profile for the G25 and this does seem to make it a little worse even though i have no profile for the buttons concerned (with it off its probably 1 in 4) it is really strange as i get no probs with f9,f10 or 't' when i used them, it even ignored me for 3 presses in a row tonight, i can press 'L' as much as i like in other apps - look :- lllllllllllLLLLLLlllllLLLL

Simon

Edit:

G25 Driver : 5.0.156.0
G15 Driver : 1.03.193

Quote from bhs :I take this corner full throttle with no braking beforehand. I hit the 2nd curb at 107mph which is a bit slower than I should be going. Probably 2-3mph slower.

yeah 107 is what i hit when normally in a race, hotlapping ive hit 110+ there, its just one of those corners where you just need to keep the car inline and going forwards as much as posible, i also set my gearing up here so that im not having to change gear untill almost at the top of the hill so i dont loose time on the steep bit in neutral, those 100th's all add up

Also something i have noticed in the first corner is that if i use all of the road on exit (right upto but not on the curb) im a 10th slower to the first split, it seems that about half a car width from the curb seems to be optimum for me.

hi bhs,

I occationally frequent Redline BLGP (when hiding from girlfriend) and have seen you there, your not *SLOW*

ive not seen the replay, but you definatly need to work on split one times - i can regulary get low 23.2's, i use a line that the top guys says is imposible to do those times and they try and convice me to use their line, the difference is that i dont use the curb on the left into turn one i also have a lower entry speed, because infact i beleave that the most time to be *gained* is between corner 1 and find the perfect line into and through the chicane, once im at the apex of t1 im full throttle untill i reach the end of the striaght, the only drawback to this line is a) i get rammed from behind in t1 b) every tom dick and harry thinks they can outbrake me in t1, also there is one trick that i use to stay full throttle in the chicane and that is to change gear as i touch the left curb in the middle, this stops the rear kicking out

The only other advise i can give is that you need to learn how to take the last corner flat out.

Quote from Dajmin :Sounds like this would be entirely possible with some of the "custom camera" mods people have been messing with.

Problem is, in the grandstand you only get to see the cars once per lap, and then you've got 2 minutes of staring at tarmac

In the fox im back to two pedal / padals

I did try and get used to the full clutch / shifter in the gti thing (and won a few 'noob' races at SO Classic, and was managing to come high midpack in the gtr's, i then gave up with the clutch and was close to winning races in the gtr's

Quote from joshdifabio :Oh noes, this is killing our website's online racers script although it uses a different IDKey hehe. I guess the tarpit is enforced by IP and not idkey then :/. I'll leave the script up for now, but I may need to remove it soon.

To the people getting a blank page; yes that is due to the tarpit. This script was only really a quick job so I haven't implemented any caching or anything, sorry .
