I can only guess that it has something to do with the latest Cpanel update which came out a few days ago, As Mustang did not make changes either and yet the default permissions of 750 have been applied.

Bob If you can you should login to Cpanel and change your affected sites root directories to CHMOD 755 (in cpanel file manager click the file and then choose change permissions)

You had your permissions for the main folder of that site set wrong, I have changed this to CHMOD 755 now and that site appears fine.

i think it's actually a good idea to keep the lag bars, As they are small enough that when everything is fine you do not notice them, But when there is a problem with somebody you will see a growing lag bar, which alerts you to check the connections list for more information. In my opinion

Quote from troy :100ms is actually 0.1 franky so 1.0 is 1000ms.

edit: Just to complete, I noticed that too but if you're lagging for a second it should be dark red and flashing with danger signs already!

you are right, i was not paying attention properly! the red numbers were actually seconds that there was no ping received (lag!)

Scawen that explains why i thought my ping was always higher than i would normally expect as it shows the full round trip instead of just the one way trip like FPS's do.

the pings in the connection list is spot on, exactly as i had hoped for.

Quote from three_jump :I'm a bit confused / unsure if network debug ping (?) and names list ping should be the same number or am I comparing apples and oranges again?

that looks odd. i could be wrong but i am guessing the network debug ping is showing the ping between you and the other driver, where as the connection list ping is showing the ping to between the other driver and the server.

Quote from troy :Small suggestion for the ping in the nameslist:

Would it be possible to graphically give the player and indication on how good/bad his ping is?

below 100ms = green
above 150ms = orange
above 250ms = red

or something along the lines?

Just noticed on the test server, anything over 1.0 (100ms) goes red.

no its a small enough attack that it's only the one server its affecting. (there on different switches and cabinets so unless the main switch is overloaded with traffic it should be ok).

watching it this time, Looks like another DDoS situation

basically as you suspect i think you can use everything just like an S2 user now with the only limitation being the cars / tracks. Layouts etc should all be usable for you now.

here you go:

http://www.500servers.com/serv ... us/LFSW_Server_Script.zip

You need to edit _data_inc.php to add the server name you want to check and to put your own pubstat ident key from LFSWorld into it.

i have just modified the 2nd script slightly to do what you need so that it looks like this:

http://500servers.com/serverstatus/server.php (if server name not found it will show offline instead). at the moment it just points to victors Blackwood XFG XRG server to show the online status.

if that's of use i'll zip up the changes for you. and you will just have to edit the name in the data_config.php and add your own pubstat IDent then upload to your webserver.

Quote from edge3147 :you can't 100% protect yourself from a ddos attack. a ddos attack is of flood of traffic on your network causing it to freeze up and render you offline. There is no way to 100% protect from that.

You can have protection from that but the costs are huge, it also tends to have a negative effect on everyday usage and the latency to the servers when not being DDOS'd which is why almost all GSP's that i know of can only react to a DDOS rather than effectively prevent one in the first place.

Quote from PoVo :Well, the same just happened to 500servers.

Let it spread and soon we'll be sitting with 4 online servers on LFS

Fortunately my uplink provider is quite good so we should have this sorted fairly soon. It also appears that the actual attack is (in relative terms) quite small as theres still about 40 - 50% of pings making it through to the server which should speed up the process of getting it sorted out.

i've been reading about that. if he's moved on to attacking my stuff though i don't know what his motive is. unless one of my clients banned him from their server.

Just to update, It's confirmed now that one of our machines is being DDOS'd I've got the uplink provider on it now.

It should be back online for you now guys, After a full power cycle the system your servers are on have restored correctly, I'll investigate further to find the cause of the initial problem.
