Quote from wien : ... (don't show them pointers and manual memory allocation before they know the standard library by heart) ...which is my main objection with all these older C++ books and DVDs.

Can one write a usefull program without that ? Learning pointers is important. Muddling through libraries doesnt help learn programming.

I can imagine that automatic engine cutoff whilst idle will be very realistic in a few years, because it save our enviroment. So indeed, LFS is a pioneer in this direction

He posts, because he has something to say, nice or not

If Nordschleife will be ever S2 content, we all already payed for it.

Generally the new sound is an improvement except the new engine sound. Maybe take the old engine sound, and simply add the new stuff (gear whine etc.)

Since all cars are built to get destroyed before the the driver gets, we dont need human damage. All we need is an proper damage model (for the cars)

Quote from JamesF1 :No, what I meant is this:

Each race replay would have a specific header, containing information about the track, the cars, etc. I would presume (although I don't KNOW) that this could be relatively easily generated for any given moment in the race (seeing as each replay has a header).

When a client joins, they get sent the header based on the MAIN REPLAY POSITION.

So if a client joins at the start, they get a header based on the start. If I client joins mid-race, they get a header based on that point in the race.

Then, the stream will essentially be the same. So, what I'm suggesting is that, should it be viable, each client gets sent a custom header, and is then "passed onto" the "regular" stream...

Maybe I don't explain it very well

That's exactly what I wanted to say !

But actually I can join a server midrace and my LFS starts to record a mpr file. So I would guess it must be possible to get a header an then the mpr data from that time I join LFS-TV server without the hole file from the time before.

But its just a thought I have no idea .

I dont know what the mpr files look like, but maybe its posible to request a modified header of the mpr-file when connect to the TV-Server, then it could be possible the join the TV-server midrace and watch.

Litle Program

Hi,

I made a litle program, nothing spezial, just for me to learn Windowsprogramming.
It analyses your driving; It shows G-Forces, relative Velocity and shows if your car over- or understeers.
It doesnt work in Multiplayer with other cars cause it uses OutSim, but it works fine with SP-Replays.

Maybe you try it out, have fun with it

And tell me what you think.

you can send a InSimPack with Id = "ISM" and value = 0. LFS will send a InSimMulti packet back, which includes the hostname

Ok, thank you.

I thought the UniqueId stay the same for the time I'm connected to the server. But ok then I have to deal with it

That was what I mean !
UniqueId

I have read the InSim.txt serveral times but I dont find a way to know my UniqueId. Sure I can look what connectionnumber I have when I join a server and then I find the the right entry in the NodeLap Info of the IS_NLP packet. But the connectionnumber changes. Is there a easy way to know my UniqueId ?

Edit: Or a way to know my actual connectionnumber

Ah ok, I didnt understand that right.

I thought Your LFS hangs up in the moment you send the ISI packet.
I had that problem once because i set the Port value in the ISI packet wrong.

Quote from CLRS530 :

And if I send only ISI I cannot close LFS cause it hangs up.

You send the InSimInit packet and then your LFS hangs up ? Am I right ?

Ah ok just see. Your LFS hangs up. Could be you send LFS the wrong port, dont send the port you specifie in the cfg.txt you must send the port your application is listening.
If I send the same port in the ISI like LFS is listening my LFS hangs up too.

Edit: Or set the Port Value to 0 then LFS sends back to the port the ISI pack comes from.

Proof if you realy send only two packets. I have just test it, I send two packs ISI and ISC and I get only two messages

InSimInit: port <PORT>
InSimClose: Waiting for connection

nothing more

Edit: I used C
