Folks, take a look at the WTCC - awesome racing, and a far better depth of quality of drivers and the number of incidents (ditto DTM regarding number of incidents, not so sure about depth of quality (Matthias Lauda, Susie Stoddart, Vanina Ickx etc)) is also far less than the BTCC.
Ofcourse theres going to be the occasional incident where it goes wrong and driver A/B/A+B end up going off, but atleast in WTCC/DTM there is a more genuine attempt to pass cleanly/with a minimum of contact - wheras the BTCC seems more of a banger series at the moment.
That first pic keiran posted, the yellow kart with red number 16 - thats an awesome corner in a Rotax Max!
Not particularly hard, but its fun when you realise you've just gone through it flat for the last however many laps
btw Keiran, the newspaper cutout there says "Keiran Smart from Oldmeldrum" - where are you now?
Edit: I assume that yellow kart photo is running on the old circuit? If so, for the benifit of those who don't know boyndie (everyone except me and you I imagine ), then its coming from the right of the picture, wheras now thats a more pronounced straight that you come at from behind the tyre wall on the right of the pic.
And the award for a rubbish description goes to...
Awesome, never checked this thread latley - i've a Rotax 125, I think the Club Racing guys do 37's/38's now, new circuit has one really bumpy corner - its truly horrendous to drive!
Edit: I only drove the old circuit in one of their old twin engined karts - managed to go of at the first hairpin at the end of the straight!
Haven't spun since though, in all those laps i've done - not sure if that means im not pushing or what...
'fraid not, I wanted to do all 4 of them, but dad's said no..which is a shame
I might still turn up to watch though
I'm not sure how competitive i'd be, i've only done about 100 laps in total round Boyndie and my bests is a 39.3, but i've never driven a kart with new tyres so I'm sure that would take the time down by 0.5/1s a lap!
I didn't know you were part ot Ten-Tenths (im kidzer there aswell )
I enjoy going to sprints/hillcimbs, I only spectate at the mo, but theres a FFord in the garage minus an Engine, hopefully once it gets a powerplant me and dad will do a few events in it hopefully
Shame about the lack of track time at them though, I guess it's an advantage karting (just 'testing' - not racing ) - you can just go up whenever you fancy, and the only limit on the laps you can do is how much fuel/oil you take with you
If you have a spare machine lying about, use it as a Smoothwall box perhaps, that might have Bandwidth Shaping Features?
Im not sure, its just a suggestion
Edit: Just had a quick google, not sure if Smoothwall supports Bandwidth Shaping/QoS Straight off, but i've seen references to a QoS patch, so I think it's possible.
I'm afraid not mate, that was Tom Pryce in the car - he was killed instalntly aswell as the Fire Extinguisher the marshall was carrying hit him in the head, so when you see him causing another crash he's already dead
