I can't tell, which of following games are my top 3, so let me put it that way:

Ex aequo:
Stunts
Micro Mashines
Lotus (on Amiga; don't know if it's it's true title, but you were driving only these)
Carmageddon
Screamer
Viper Racing
Interstate '76 (well, not a racing game, but many cool cars involved )
and LFS of course

Quote from herki :I'd suggest (in addition to leave it, because everything will be erased with the next physics update) to ban cheaters in two steps: First a temporary ban for like 3 months, and a permanent if they do something fishy again

3-months ban is too much as for first warning, 1 month would be quite a good leson.

Quote from Renku :And remember you Oval people are responsible that this cart being useless to us road racers. These charts, btw have to be separated to the oval and road racers stats, when the S2 final comes.

Also all oval laps/distance/races/wins should be excluded from Racer Chart .

You can't. Even if you paint it white, it will remain black in the game.

Personally, I don't think skinnable face is necessary. You hardly see a helmet skin, so face (in fact, only eyes) would be even less visible.

Physics and sounds are much much more important. Personally, I don't care much about graphics. They're qiute good now. Also, what was mentioned before, you can play LFS on a very broad range of hardware configs, from way below average, to "head-explodes" ones

Quote from Vain :No it isn't. Because DX10 doesn't run on other systems than Vista. Due to the negative publicity of Vista this will cause major incompatibilities.
Also this would foce the majority of LFS players to upgrade their hardware because Vista requires enormeous amounts of performance.

I agree. Many players don't have (and/or can't afford) high-end machines that will meet Vista's and DX10 reqiurements.

Quote from Becky Rose :I for one wont be buying Vista. I'll be praying either for a consumer backlash and removal of all of it's DRM components, or i'll fully migrate to OSX and keeping XP just for LFS. Vista and DX10 will never get to see my hard disk, unless the corporations make significant changes to what they are planning to do.

Same here, but I'm thinking about Linux.

First chicane is one of the best places in BL. Removing it woiuld kill the track, imo.

I'm also against a chicane in the middle of the straight.

A small suggestion (don't know if it was suggested before...).

A server option (changeable from in-game): disable players' "reset car" button.

This would help a lot (imo) in league races.

Power/weight value makes it such a tricky car. And, as said before, understanding that bastard gives a lot of satisfaction.

Quote from Hyperactive :LX6 just bites and laughs

And kicks you when you're already lying on the ground and bleeding

What I've learned with LX6, is that it is not you, who decide where to go - it's the LX6.

You might have not noticed, but LFS is a RACING simulator. Drift is only a side effect :P

Racing uber alles!

- in-game private messaging
- an option for not downloading helmet skins
- server option to force no brake help and no throttle help
- disable brake and throttle help in hotlapping
-- maybe even disable automatic gearbox in hotlapping
- ban hybrid tyres from road tracks

In fact I'd love to see theese in S2 final.

As for S3:
- weather! (both fixed and dynamic)

Things mentioned before, like more complex damage, parts falling off, coplex brakes simulation, etc are just a matter of time, and IMO will be implemented.

But, for god's sake, dont tell me about radio, airbags and air conditioning.illepall Someone's going to suggest visual tuning in a minute... lol
Polish LFS League has been launched!

As it is widely known, nature does not stand vacuum Thus, in order to fill the vacuum of organised and professional racing in polish LFS scene, we have created a Polish LFS League.

It is open for all polish-speaking S2 drivers. Polish nationality is not required, but knowledge of polish language is essential, because all organisation matters and league's forum are led only in this language.

The season contains 10 events with various car/track combos, one every two weeks. There are two 45min races during an event.

Winners of both individual and teams' classification will be awarded a gift.

Not a bad idea

BUT
Quote from Blackout :No no no no, thats the thing that makes that corner more of a challenge, you just have to get the right line to drive it flatout.

Blackout is 100% right, imo.

So no for curb.

Reducing/turning off some graphic options wont help you much. I have a Celeron 1,8GHz, 512RAM, GF4 MX440 and it's hardly playable when 5 cars are nearby. As Kidcodea said, "any ultra cheap config u buy nowadays will be a LOT faster". It's the only reasonable solution for you, imo.

Nice.
A bit of sharpening would help indeed.

Corel blurs pics when saving and resizing. There certainly is an option to turn it off, but i dont know where (i just dont need it).

Quote from AndroidXP :Because your brain adapts to the low information update rate and kinda interpolates the missing data so you're still able to drive "fine".

Quite a satisfying explanation
Quote from AndroidXP : The question is, are you restricted to such low frame rates all the time or is it only occasionally? Or a bit differently: have you ever experienced LFS gameplay with high framerates?

I don't think I've ever had more than 16fps in S2. Neither I had a chance to play LFS on a machine better than my own.
Quote from AndroidXP :I'm no expert at this and don't know the exact definition of 'continous light'

By continous I mean one, you wouldn't cosider a blinking one, not even think about
Quote from AndroidXP :but if some light source dares to blink at me with 10Hz, (...) Continously annoying maybe, but nothing else.

ROTFL
Quote from AndroidXP :Maybe it was measured (...)

I have no idea how it was measured. Your dark room theory is possible. It wouldn't represent reality with satisfying accuracy then. In general, scientific research, especially in biology, does not, because it virtually cannot, fully represent real live observations.

Nevertheless, it's a fact provided by a good book.

Quite an offtopic we have here...

Quote from AndroidXP :My advice: don't trust "any human physiology handbook".

I trusted one and passed an exam with it
It says (in general) that if a separate light stimuli reach eye more than 10 times a second, you see it as a continous light.

I'm not saying you are wrong, because you're not (I also find 60Hz refresh rate annoying and tiring) but on the other hand I can easily play having 12-14fps and I have nothing to complain about. A LFS Comics for most of ppl, but not for me.

How to explain that?

But on the yet another hand, maybe "if you don't have what you like, you like what you have" works here, lol

Quote from Jakg :racing on 40 is actually quite hard

13fps is more than enough Less than 6 makes a problem, lol

btw, critical value for smooth, fluent vision is 10fps (you can check in any human physiology handbook)
