OWRL presents new website and logo
Krutch

As from today, the Open Wheel Racing League will move to a new domain and website. This should help us continue to grow and provide a more stable and user-friendly home for the OWRL. We also present our new logo, which has been designed by pod Sledo.

The new domain for the Open Wheel Racing League:
www.owrl.de

Our current season will continue from this website. With three races left, |KR| VIP UA still leads the championship, even after missing the Westhill International race due to connection problems. |DM| Willi won the race, but [tsr.]Masahara managed to close the gap to VIP UA to 11 points (30 points for a win). The OWRL will now continue at the Kyoto Ring Oval.

As we have the OWRL-servers running 24/7 we try to make sure at least one is with the FO8. At the moment you can race at Westhill on [GoodServer.de] [OWRL]#1. I really enjoy driving the FO8 at Westhill, it's such a great combo, very fast. However I can't get the speed through the fast corners some people can get! :eye-poppi

Joining the OWRL to race the FO8 wouldn't be a good idea at the moment, as with the division system we currently use you would start in div B with the FOX, and in this season to move up to Div A there is simply not enough time to make up the points.

cool, we made it in the top 10! Nice.

The team race was good fun. Maxim couldn't stretch his tyres further than 14 laps, were as I could do 16 on them, so we decided that I would do 3 stints. We had one puncture in this race and that was at the end of Maxim's first stint. I also had to take it easy on the rf in my 2nd and 3rd/last stint. Don't know what happened to Hennecke und Kaspar, but they had the pit and we got 4th, and as our aim was to finish that was a good bonus.

Thanks to the admins, I really enjoyed this season even though I couldn't take part in all races. 2H races is exactly right for me.

I wouldn't want to have a chat about things non-related to LFS, but it would help when it's possible to chat between team mates. we can't use a voice server so being able to say coming in in x laps would be nice.

It looks like my team (me and MaximUK) can drive this race. We called it SBRC/K² but as I don't drive for K² anymore (and actually race with SBRC in WOSEC league for GTP) we'll be using SBRC skins and such.

How's qualifying going to work?

Sadly, I will have to miss this race, even though I qualified.

This also means that the only race me and my teammate (MaximUK) will run together is the team race this season.

The results are correct, it was André Nauta who finished 2nd.

I attached all the output files except the html.
I also have to say that I didn't follow what was in the readme and did run the replay at I think 8x speed.
OWRL no longer linked to K²

As from today (1.10), the LFS-Racing team from Project K² is no longer part of K². The team has moved to POD. In consequence, the link between Projeckt K² and the OWRL is no longer active and has been removed from this site. For now, we can still use this website, domain and the forum, which are sponsored by K² and sim-racer.de. The gameservers will be supplied by POD, but these might not be on for 24/7. The OWRL Admins would like to thank K² and especially Goofy for their support.

Until now you have not heard much about us except for some success news. Rumours that we are just a good trained AI were told. But now we´ve got some community news for you.

As of today we have changed our skin color from blue/white to green/white. The “K² Racing Team” changed completely to “pod – virtual gaming”. Although we´re now green, we´ll still use the throttle enough to drive exciting and fair races with and against you.

We would like to say thank you to Project K². It was a beautiful and a successful time. We wish K² all the best for the future.

But now it´s time to look forward.
We´re happy to see how pod accepted us. It´s great to read welcome messages from pod members and staff. We hope we can hold up to the expectations. The optimism in the team is great.

The best for me personally was that the team wants to stay together. This certainly proves the team spirit!

The structure of the team remains the same as before.
Unfortunately we lost 3 drivers. First there is Goofy, one of the founders of the K² Racing Team. He is now investing his full time to his http://www.sim-racer.de project related to GTR. We wish him good luck for the project. Also Neo and Zoom leave the team as they set other priorities.

But we are glad to announce that these gaps are filled by very skilled drivers.
From now on the two EAS participants

Simon "glider" Stange und
Pascal "55PS" Schönrock

are going to join us on the tracks of Live for Speed. Furthermore

Jan "Iceman" Latendorf

,an old friend, joins the team.

Together we try to remain the same nice guys you've known before.

What else do you require?

Smith, a bug report, look at this output:

NL.LFS BL1 Server 2.

As you can see André Nauta finished 2nd, but at the lap by lap chart, he is given 3rd.

Also, why am I not getting an anverage lap (also on other outputs)?

And div B stats by the winner, Markus Hennecke: http://www.markus-hennecke.de/ ... 09.05_230156_results.html

Frustating is also the best word to summarize my (Wouter de Bruijn) race. After taking one place at the start, it soon became clear that my last minute changes to the tyres weren't good. The rear tyres were heating up a lot in the middle and I found it hard to control the car. After a few laps, my lap times slowed and I had to let a few cars pass. I decided to pit early and make some camber and pressure changes. That fixed the problem and I had a good 2nd stint, but when I came close to the cars I had to let pass first I didn't manage to pass them.
I started making more mistakes and decided to try to pass them by strategy. However, halfway through my 2nd stints I had so much damage from hitting the wall various times I had to pit early. With 45 minutes to go I wanted to try to make it to the finish. After 40 minutes, I had a lot of damage and lost 7th place and then also got a puncture.

After making a pit stop in the last minute, I came out of the pit just before Markus crossed the finish line. I had to do another lap, but he decided to park his car on the pit exit - where I was coming. You can imagine the outcome, but I was able to finish the lap

Me, Wouter de Bruijn, had a nice race on div B, even though after the first few laps of the race didn't had to pass a car on track to finish 3rd.

In the 1st stint I got from 7th to 4th in the first few laps, then didn't really get in the rythm myself and after my 1st stop I was 6th. Then I got the consistency running, and as the stats show, even though I had the 7th fastest lap time, I managed to still finish 3rd.

At the end of the race Rupinski, who stopped 3 times, 1 more than me, was behind me. He got past me in a good pass (nothing I could do) for 3rd with 10 minutes to go, but threw it away himself so I finsihed 3rd :woohoo:

For me the race length is good as I enjoy longer races. Start time is also good for me, but half an hour earlier wouldn't solve the problem. The thing is here, all those people (and even more than the 60 who qualified) did sign up and qualify. So they know what they're qualifying for and what was going to happen. I don't think the lack of attendace is caused by the rules and any of the other causes, but mainly because of this, and you to take my word as a league admin for this:

in about any league people will be enthusiastic at the start. After a while, the 1st few races or weeks, interest always drops and only about 60-70% of the people will keep racing in the league.

This effect might be a bit stronger because of the short time after the S2 release, but I also saw this effect in the 3rd season of my league with S1, and in many other cases.

League admin are humans after all and they also will make mistakes sometimes. Don't be too hard on them for this. The most important thing is that you learn from your mistakes.

You can join mid-season, but all new drivers will have to start in Div B, driving the FOX. Only after the 2nd, 4th and 6th season race you can move up to Div A (FO8). As we already had the 1st season race, it is practically impossible to qualify for div A after the 2nd season race, and the oval race is the 4th. So if you join now will have to race in Div B at the oval.

Quote from billymos :I managed to be second after 10 minutes but it was really hard to keep Krutch behind me. It seemed i could arrive second. But i had an accident, trying to avoid someone in the middle of the track, so i made one extra long pit stop:chair:. At the end, i was trying to catch Krutch, running almost a second quicker (maybe he was controlling our distance) but a miscalculation of the fuel forced me to a fourth pitstop during the last lap.:grumpy:

But at the end, i was very happy. And most important, i really enjoyed the race.

No problem with the lapped cars.
Vince was an alien. Too fast for me. I think i made a mistake choosing FXR

See you at Aston

Choosing FXR wasn't wrong, especially as you seemed to be able to do 2 stops. I was slower in the end because I first knew you had to do one more stop, but then I got disturbed by someone walking in my room and crashed into a wall. Right side of the car got some damage, but I only had problems in left-handed turns so my speed was still ok. Shame about the incidents, would have been close between us.

I was racing with R3's on my XRR as in a training run on R2's my lf exploded after 20 minutes. In training my R3's did seem to cool down too much after 30 minutes, but I reduced camber just before the race and it worked out so I changed strategy during the race. But I also reduced camber a bit too much as I was slower than in training, so a change at my stop helped. Always nice when that works out

thd / Frank, next time you need someone for race leader you can ask me, I've enoug experience with leagues for that

Div C race was good. Vince was way to fast for everyone else and would've been 2 laps ahead if he didn't had an incident. I came 2nd after a good fight with BillyMos. Now I feel damn sorry for myself that I reminded Vince to qualify for this in July :banghead:
I started 6th, being one of those who didn't set a time in qualify. I got into a good rythm quickly and could overtake a few people. By the time I got to 2nd in lap 7, Vince was already away. From further behind on the grid Billy Mos had got to 3rd and he also passed me. Then I could follow him. After Vince stopped I managed to get by Billy - for 1 corner.
I first planned to do a 3 stop-race, but as my tyres were holding up ok and Billy looked like being on 2 stops, I changed strategy. After my first I was a bit more behind Billy, until I found him and another car standing after the chicane. That's were I got 2nd and I stayed there. In the end I made a small error costing me some time but I kept 2nd.
And on Div C I didn't had any problems with lapped cars, well done.

Good race, and I really like the length. Thanks to the admins!

OWRL announces first S2 season
Krutch
S2 licensed
Note: This is a bit old now as the first pre-season race has already been done and the second race is coming up next saturday. However, that still allows new members to qualify for div A at the season start by getting enough points in the second and last pre-season race.
Thanks to Victor for setting up this subsection for the OWRL. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them.

The OWRL is getting ready for the first S2 season. S2 has brought us two great open wheeled cars: The Formula XR and the Formula V8. We will create two divisions. Division A is for the fastest drivers and will feature the FO8. Division B will use the Formula XR. All new drivers start in this division. The season starts September 3rd. The 2 races we will held in August will count to create the divisions to start with. After every 2 races, the best 3 drivers from Div B promote to Div A, where the drivers with the least amount of points will have to make place.
We created a graphical view of the next season to make clear how this works and so you can see the calendar:
OWRL S2 Season 1

You don't have to compete in the August test races, but that would mean you have to start in Div B, making your chances to win the championship in Div A small. We will try to announce the new division allocation as soon as we have the race results so all drivers have enough time to practice.

The Open Wheel Racing League is dedicated to bring the best Open Wheel racing in Live For Speed. Races are on saturdays every 2 weeks. The league is open for everyone who can race fair. The test races for this season start on August the 5th and the season starts on September the 3rd. All races are on saturday 20:00 CET.
