Quote from Dan Hot :i think it only applies to the server. as far as i can tell anyone can download the dedi server software and run a server. only people who are licensed can actually join it if its set to s2. but i could be mistaken

that's right. You can run a dedi server on any pc you like. There is no check on username or licenses. Only if you want to race on a licensed server, you'll need a license, including when it's your own server.

I think most of the slower / less experienced people would feel they have to pay for the faster participants. Most people would feel better with a 'normal' contribution system where everyone has to pay a bit and at the end there a some prices (which could be money). Of course, it's the same idea, but how you present it can make a big difference.

Most LFS-racers will look to league racing if they want to have longer races. However, if you get it going and start promoting it, I'm sure you'll be able to get enough people interested, given the current size of active LFS races and the amount of teams. There must be more people who like this idea.

Thanks Smith. I used them for the OWRL stats from yesterday and it worked without problems

Smith,

I tried to use LFS Stats for the first time since the patch. Even though I get the export, the results were all messed up and I had to manually correct the order and finishing time of most of the drivers.

The edited version is online:
http://reports.simracing.nl/Li ... /NL.LFS.2/07-server1.html

You can still see what positions it first gave at the Highest Climber-table. The graphs were correct however. First time I run the replay at 4x speed, second time 2x speed, both gave the same result.

The effect is explained in a very intersting article, not only on slipstreaming (drafting) in NASCAR but also on social science and complexity. According to this article, it doesn't help the front car in open wheelers.

http://www.firstmonday.org/issues/issue5_2/ronfeldt/

Quote :Drafting, which looks like tailgating or slipstreaming, occurs when a second car tucks closely behind the first, filling part of the vacuum. The car in front loses some of the drag at its rear. The second car still has a vacuum at its rear, but now has less air resistance in front. As a result, both cars quicken a bit — the two combined speed a few miles per hour faster than either can alone. This push-pull effect is stronger the closer the second car gets to the first .... (In contrast, open-wheel, motorcycle, and bicycle racers do not gain extra speed by drafting, because a trailing racer does not generate the forward aero push that stock cars do.)

Sad to see this team go, but I'm happy some of the drivers still remain active.

I'll miss your skins!

Quote from mkinnov8 :Moving Off Topic for a second, can anyone provide some more details on this? as in Why?

Thanks.

I've been in talks with FILSCA but they didn't gave me the impression they really wanted us.

Quote from Lightsaver :hi there

i dont wanted to start an extra thread for my question.

im using a thrustmaster ff racing wheel with 2 digital and 2 analog pedals behind the wheel.
i dont like using the ground pedals cause me feets start hurting after 10 mins of play.

is there a good wheel out there which supports these pedals?

Hi,

what's the exact question? If you're talking about this wheel, I think you can map the two axes behind the wheel to gas and brake in LFS. Haven't had the chance to try the Thrustmaster Rallye GT Pro Force Feedback, but they use it in SimWorld and I heard the wheel is okay. For about €100, it's worth considering.

Hi,

When I open the forum in Firefox 1.0.7, it opens this in the "Lates Forum Posts" box, which is quite small to show the full forum!

In IE it works ok.

That wouldn't make much sense anymore as CART is bankrupt and OWRS has taken over, naming the racing series Champcar World Series.

I like the car choice, but I'm busy enough with my own leagues atm.

about the fixed setups for the FXR: there is no way to force that. It is only possible if you have honest drivers. Or you should let everyone send the admin on the server their setup just before the race and the compare them.

pod - virtual gaming will be taking part in this race. We present our team for the 24H at our website (in German, but even if you can't speak that language you can still see the pictures )

Smith, from your first post:

the file is however v1.11

two things:

- you need people that are experienced enough to hande the speed difference with lapping, or this could lead to trouble
- you need enough people in both classes to keep it interesting for all participants. No one likes to be the only one in his class (or one of 3 or 4 with the other guys being a lot faster). For this, the limit of 20 people is still a bit low. I suggest putting up a limit on how many people can drive in both classes to prevent from everyone except a few going to the fastest class.

It does add a bit of strategy to the race, dealing with lapped cars for the faster cars and not having to do as many laps (whilst they will be lapped) for the slower cars, so it sure can bring up some interesting races.

As we have the OWRL-servers running 24/7 we try to make sure at least one is with the FO8. At the moment you can race at Westhill on [GoodServer.de] [OWRL]#1. I really enjoy driving the FO8 at Westhill, it's such a great combo, very fast. However I can't get the speed through the fast corners some people can get! :eye-poppi

Joining the OWRL to race the FO8 wouldn't be a good idea at the moment, as with the division system we currently use you would start in div B with the FOX, and in this season to move up to Div A there is simply not enough time to make up the points.

The results are correct, it was André Nauta who finished 2nd.

I attached all the output files except the html.
I also have to say that I didn't follow what was in the readme and did run the replay at I think 8x speed.

Until now you have not heard much about us except for some success news. Rumours that we are just a good trained AI were told. But now we´ve got some community news for you.

As of today we have changed our skin color from blue/white to green/white. The “K² Racing Team” changed completely to “pod – virtual gaming”. Although we´re now green, we´ll still use the throttle enough to drive exciting and fair races with and against you.

We would like to say thank you to Project K². It was a beautiful and a successful time. We wish K² all the best for the future.

But now it´s time to look forward.
We´re happy to see how pod accepted us. It´s great to read welcome messages from pod members and staff. We hope we can hold up to the expectations. The optimism in the team is great.

The best for me personally was that the team wants to stay together. This certainly proves the team spirit!

The structure of the team remains the same as before.
Unfortunately we lost 3 drivers. First there is Goofy, one of the founders of the K² Racing Team. He is now investing his full time to his http://www.sim-racer.de project related to GTR. We wish him good luck for the project. Also Neo and Zoom leave the team as they set other priorities.

But we are glad to announce that these gaps are filled by very skilled drivers.
From now on the two EAS participants

Simon "glider" Stange und
Pascal "55PS" Schönrock

are going to join us on the tracks of Live for Speed. Furthermore

Jan "Iceman" Latendorf

,an old friend, joins the team.

Together we try to remain the same nice guys you've known before.

What else do you require?

Smith, a bug report, look at this output:

NL.LFS BL1 Server 2.

As you can see André Nauta finished 2nd, but at the lap by lap chart, he is given 3rd.

Also, why am I not getting an anverage lap (also on other outputs)?
Dutch S2 League about to start

As this is of interest of dutch-speaking racers only, I'll continue in Dutch!
