Haha, what a useful feature.

I find it quite funny seeing the little strip from Rappa Z, it's nice to know he's still trying, but it being ignored. hahaha.

And as was said, straight A's at 12 is as good as mandatory, it's nothing to keep going on about. Thank you for alerting me so suavely to the ignore feature. Excellent.

I think I know what Rappa Z was doing, he's blatantly got every LFSform user on his ignore list, and so he just posts to himself to bolster his ego, and hence how he can get so off topic randomly.

And evans, you have a way with the truth

Anyway, WHERE IS THE UPDATE!? Ahhhhhhh the curiousity.

Ah, but just because they are great, and think alike, does that make them right?

That picture of the Gti is awesome in my opinion (except that green!)

Seeing the tyres like that reminds you of jsut how much stress they're under. Reminds me of a Top Gear where they were generally abusing a Bentley Continental, the tyres were all over the place like in that picture having to deal with the huge mass of the car.

Nice looking pics, I have to say.

Were tyre marks variable like they are in the picture of the FZR and XRR? As in, the rear outside tyre has the most force applied to it, and so is laying dwn more rubber as it slips, whereas the inside front is slipping, but without as much force pushing on it.

Is that normal? I hadn't noticed it before if it's old news!

There it is!

Tyre physics :
The way the tyres perform is the most important thing about the behaviour of any vehicle. If the tyres are wrong, you might as well forget about your nice suspension, rigid chassis and all the rest of it!

For racing simulations too, tyres are the key to handling. They are also the toughest thing to get right. A rubber body reinforced with various materials, inflated with air, subjected to loads in various directions, heating, cooling, wearing out... it's a challenge!

We have been on the case recently to meet this challenge and make sure each tyre behaves as realistically as possible, and as well as possible, under all those varying conditions. The key points to how the car feels, are longitudinal behaviour (the way the tyres provide forces under acceleration or braking, which make them rotate at slightly - or greatly - different speeds compared with the car's motion) and lateral behaviour (the way the tyres provide forces under cornering, when their rolling direction is slightly - or greatly - different from their actual direction of motion). And finally, just how these forces are combined together when both of those are happening at the same time - accelerating out of a corner, braking into a corner, etc.

Live for Speed tyres have come on a long way recently. You can get the power down in a more controlled and realistic way. It's more fun to drive and after a small mistake, you are more likely to run wide and get yourself back on the line - losing a few seconds instead of losing the car completely.

Quote from wien :It really hurts the Dev's bandwidth though...

Is it really that much worse than everyone mashing F5 though?

Oh well, I suppose the less people that have it, the less likely it is to impact on their bandwidth, so the less guilty I should feel about using it.

It only refreshes every 2 seconds though

You guys really should get firefox, and ReloadEvery, it saves that poor F5 key, and your poor F5 finger.

Quote from molocco :i think the devs are having fun with this tread, too.
remember yesterdays discussion about the fixing of the visor? todays screen of the fox delivers a close up on exactly the questioned part...

peace mo

I agree, and I reckon they're purposefully taking screenshots with other little bits in the background for us to 'spy'.

Trip Computers in the road cars anyone? lol

I'd quite like a mpg figure in there, as it must be floating around in the code if 'they' can add how many laps you've got left.

And it could display your total mileage in the car? There could be 'running in' of cars!

Just thinking out loud, new features = more ideas, sorry!

I thought the glass looked very impressive too, just assumed I hadn't noticed it before...

Looks like 4 o clock might be our update time? Although I for one won't be 'expecting' one at 4 each day, that's probably the kind of scheduling nonsense the devs were glad to leave behind

Updated!!!

day 3 (Thursday 13th April)

Single seater dashboards :
Just a small graphical enhancement to show you today. Tyre and aero physics have been improved a lot recently. The slipstreaming improvements will make the single seater racing cars even more popular. So we spent a few hours making a special dashboard for the Formula XR and Formula V8.

Haha. Small fry.

I'm at work, and have set a firefox window refreshing lfs.net every 5 seconds, just in case it gets earlier again today! Could be a real interesting update today, maybe even one we haven't heard of already!

Wonder what the surprise feature will be?!

Quote from deggis :Yeah, what's the point showing off a demo if it doesn't represent the current version.

On the other hand the demo doesn't exactly represnt S2 (because of lame car choices).

Plus the devs don't want people downloading the demo, and getting turned off LFS because of bugs that have been fixed in the full version. I'm really looking forward to the low speed handling fixes, I think that will help encourage a lot of first timers to stick to it, as it can get a bit frustrating when the XRT seems to spin on BLGP turn 1, every, single, time.lol.

Just a thought. For all those F5 mashers, there's a firefox plugin called ReloadEvery. You could just set it to refresh the tab with LFS.net on every second. As I have.

Then you just put that window on your second monitor, and carry on as normal. As I have.

You mean "dying" don't you (and it's not the only one)

But yes, I do agree with your point.

Ah, touchez. When I typed it, I thought to myself it can't be dying, thinking that was how dyeing would be spelt.

There's more? I noticed the too lol, that was just a typo, I know how to use to and too!
