Quote from kamilek12 :Too much electronics for me imo, I'd look into an e34 if I were you. Also hit or miss when it comes to reliability. Coming from someone who works on mostly bmw.

electronics is more opinion, and imo not a deal breaker.

also, not quite in the situation to 'look into' anything, but the dealership my dad works for got one for 3000, very minor work needed (window motor, abs sensor, tires), so its this one, or keep looking at other things.

Quote from e2mustang :if u want a reliable 528 than go for the '97 single vanos one.u'll have way less problems.
Power is ok,handling is good, and it has an ASC button so u can turn tc off

refer to above for why its this or nothing; power being ok is plenty, handling being good is good, and tc off = good.

any sort of lsd? or is it open? how could i get one cheap if the ladder?

thank you guys, i may get it

so i looked at a truck the other day, im in the market for a first car.

clutch in, truck running, first gear seemed hard to find, almost like it was nearly gone. is this a transmission needing to be replaced, or could it be something else?

transmission fluid there, but not quite full.

EDIT: btw, im just trying to see if the truck is too much work to get, other then that it is strong.

Quote from XCNuse :have fun paying for gas and insurance!

my dad is paying for insurance, he is a driver with 20+ years good driving, old truck, not valuable in stock manner....should be pretty cheap, trucks are cheapest?

anyways, gas will suck HARD, but like i said...not a daily driver, or even close.

senior year (when i can drive people) i plan on giving rides to school, and charging gas money...that should make me break somewhat even with gas at least..

Quote from Homeless_Drunk :sounds like a waste of time...go find a cheap lq4...not sure why you would want to put anything but an lsx in there if you're doing a swap...from both a cost/performance standpoint...you can keep it carbed to keep the cost down and you'd be much happier in the end...so would your right foot...

while i save up money with my job, i can use this as a project to keep me busy, and use it as proof of knowledge when its time for internships/college.
i plan on putting absolutely no money into this, my dad is paying for everything it needs, it is going to be on his name.
not doing a swap, but we have a 454 lying around, and it will fit...that is the plan.
fuel injection is far preferred in my opinion, just easier in general, and im happy with anything in the end...my right foot will be PLENTY happy with this...it is already "too much" for my parents.

also, finding what i want for a daily driver is not going to be easy in my price range. i am very picky. we do have a few extra cars that get 6+ mpg, so this will be a truck to impress more then anything.

Quote from Klutch :you dont have your license, and you want to drive a 400hp 4x4?(i assume?)

And how are you going to pay for all this?

i have my permit, and getting my license in january.
i do want to drive a 400hp 4x4, yes. not every day, i will spend money more then save at that point.

i have to buy nothing at this point. we have every.single.part. needed except bolts for the frame at this point. (anybody know where i can get those btw?)
nothing spent building, insurance/registration payed for by mi padre. gas payed for.....well im not driving it every day

sorry i have not been active lately, thats why the response is late.

my dad has had a 1986 GMC sierra completely apart in the basement, so i took on the project.

right now i will have to completely wash the frame, and coat it with some POR 15, then real progress can get started.

what it is:

1986 GMC sierra regular cab, detroit locker rear end, 3 speed transmission (automatic )

the best part? Im putting in a 7.4L big block 454 v8 in it. (i know redundant saying 454 and v8)

dont remind me about the single digit MPG's, not going to be a daily driver. 400+ hp?

TVE protein is what your muscles need to grow, so maybe the amount or efficiency your body uses it up isn't the same, but you still need it.

working a muscle group every day, and just that muscle group will get you sore there in the morning, and the morning after probably. to fully recover your muscles you should get about a week rest so you can continue where you left off, and not need to lower weight the second/third time the week.

the isolation thing will also get you definate results. if you work a few muscles one day, then move on to another group another day, you are likely working a few muscles multiple times.

when i said every month or so. take a week off, maybe if you are feeling really ambitious, work groups somewhat lightly.

the biggest mistakes in working out are not taking enough brakes to give your muscles recovery time, too much weight (you just hurt yourself), and you dont switch up the workouts.

if you dont switch up the workouts, you will reach a plateu, and you will see no gain for a while; your body just gets used to the workout.

remember, cables work you different then barbels, which work you different from dumbels.

for a muscle group like chest, maybe you want to mainly do bench, or stuff with the bar; thats ok. but once a month, use the cables instead for 2 weeks about. make your body build muscle again.

for me, idk how right this is, but....
lets say im benching. monday is my bench day, so monday is when i do it. so say monday (in 2 days) i want to see where i max out. start really light, like 145 if my max is 200. 10 reps of that about, add 25's, so im at 185; 3 reps of that. do 1 rep increments of gradually adding weight until you cant anymore.

do not add all the weight at once, you will hurt yourself. do not max out the same day you work...you will tire yourself out.

generally- 1-6 reps is for pure stregnth.
6-10 reps is for muscle mass
10+ reps is for endurance

the modified drop set i talked about a few posts up focuses on keeping your muscles un-injured, muscle mass, and endurance a little bit.

isolation per day is key.

for me, monday is my chest and triceps day
tuesday is legs
wednesday is shoulders and biceps
thursday is back and core

friday-sunday you need to rest. your body needs some time to recover.

what i do is called a 'drop set'.
light weight for 15-20 reps, rest a minute. heavy 6-8 reps, rest a minute; heavy 6-8 reps, rest a minute. finish up again light, 15-20 reps.

if you have access, try to switch up the workouts once a month. like september for chest, i did bench, incline bench, decline bench with the well...bench.

for october, i might use cables, or dumbels. they work your muscles differently. instead of bench, i will be doing fly's.

as for after your workout, you need protein. your body needs to repair the muscle you just ripped, thus making you stronger. on a training day, you should get 10g of protein more then your body weight. i weigh 160 lbs, i should be getting 170g of protein. very difficult, and i dont nearly reach this, but as long as you get some protein, hopefully within a half hour you are set.

on a non-training day, friday-sunday for me, you should be getting 30g of extra protein then you usually get.

if you have had a few straight weeks of straight working out, sticking to your schedule, then you should take a week break. you will come back stronger. do not go crazy on the protein on the week break, but a few shakes wont hurt.

my shake: (in a blender)
a bit of milk (i fill it to the first line on my blender...use judgement)
a scoop and a half of vanilla whey protein powder (vanilla is easy to make taste good, thats about 25-30g in the scoop and a half)
2 large table-spoon full's of peanut butter
one-1.5 frozen banana's. it comes out thick and creamy, and delicious.

my friend said he had one with brocoli, but idk how that would blend..

probably the wrong place to ask, but i need help finding a song i heard.

the info on the sat. radio was wrong.

it was by (or at least featuring dr. dre), and all i remember is he mentions his chronic album (it is after release, idk when [and he mentions it in EVERY song he is in...]), and the chorus was very catchy, and the sounds you heard generally went up the octave, starting down pretty low, ending mid-octave.

it is up-beat, and high energy.

the info the sat. radio gave was the game - lets ride

youtube dissagrees.

EDIT found it, it was lets ride...idk what my ipod was giving me...sorry for the bump

best place to ask?

my mom has a droid 3, and on the bottom (unlike the droid 2 she had), there is a dock. 3 apps of your choice, and the 'all apps' button. Now say i did not want the dock at all? any way? say i wanted more then 3 apps down there? any way?

supposedly it is open source, but i feel like that only applies to themes, and such like that.

Quote from mrodgers :I was stuck in one of those Dodge Calibers with the CVT transmission. Biggest pile of crap I had ever driven.

It's "sporty" I guess because it revs to 6500 rpm and never waivers from there.

It was a rental for a work trip. 8 hours I spent on the highway which was fine. Car was fairly comfy for an 8 hour drive. Took it home since I got back after the rental place was closed. Next day I drove it on the 2 lane roads about 30 minutes away. It revved to 6500 rpm and never moved from there. That's all it did was rev nonstop. What a PITA car it was. Don't know how people can stand driving CVT transmissions. Far worse than a normal automatic, which is saying something because automatics are completely worthless.

i completely agree that the transmission sucks REALLY bad..but for what it is, it handles decent, and the auto-stick makes the CVT act a little more bearable.

going onto the highway from a near stop is the worst thing though. gutless in first gear, and sounds like something is dieing down there.

Quote from dadge :how can you call a FWD economy car that's comfortable, big and automatic, sporty? compared to what? a horse drawn cart?

not very sporty, but it has r/t suspension, so it can corner decent.

like was said, practice, and add rear wing/take off front wing.

but you could try adding negative camber in the back wheels, or lowering the tire pressure in the back.

lower the differential locking setting a little, if you think you are getting too much power in the wrong places causing you to lose control.

lower the rear suspension's rebound dampening setting a little bit, loosening the spring rate in the back, or lowering the sway bar stregnth should do the job also.

all depends on what the source of the problem is though.
