Quote from Bose321 :Not sure if you can get a 'proper' case and PSU for such little money as those two heaters of you need quite some power to keep working and it obviously has to be reliable.

Any of those cases aren't really (a lot) bigger than your CMC5 (I've owned one). I'd rather look for something that has better cooling options and perhaps a little bigger. IMO a HAF912 would be quite cool and has everything and more that you want.

As for the PSU, just get some good brand like OCZ, Corsair and Bequiet.

Saving money on a case isn't that bad, but when It comes to a PSU you just need to be sure it's a quality product that delivers enough power and keeps doing that in a stable way.

Cheers for the reply Bose. I'm using GTX260's which actually aren't that bad heat wise, alteast compared to my previous 8800GT's which got to 100+ deg cel

With my current case my cards idle at 51 (1st card) 45 (2nd card) and on load around 75 deg cel.

I do have a small fan placed on the side vent which is next to the GPU's so I could turn that on so it sucks the hot air out of the cards?

I mean I could just keep this case and just live with it but I think it's time to change it, or even mod it. (but if I cut some holes and put some fans/vents in it would probably cost around £20+, may aswell just get a case for £40-50)

I was looking at the Fractal Design Core 3000 as it is £50 and looks to be a well designed case and comes with three fans and a controller.

Will have a look at a couple of 650W+ Modular PSU's and just look at reviews then it seems.

Thanks for your reply though

Hey all,

I'm looking to change my PSU as atm it's a 720w 'branded' from PCworld lol (it was kinda cheap and I needed a PSU quickly)

It's actually been ok for a year or two running my old 8800GT's in SLI, I have now upgraded to GTX 260's SLI and the PSU only has two dedicated GPU plugs, the GFX cards need two each. So atm I have to use those adapter things to make up the extra two.

So i'd rather upgrade the PSU to something that is a proper brand and around £50-60. I've been looking at various 650W Modular PSU's but really not sure which would be the best one.

I'm also looking to upgrade my case as my current one (CM Centurion 5) is really dated and lacks many features that most cases have. Such as a hole on the motherboard area for the CPU cooler's mounting brackets and also the ability to mount the PSU at the bottom.

I've seen on Scan.co.uk that they have,

Coolermaster Elite 360, Black, Minitower Case w/o PSU + 650W PSU,

Coolermaster GX RS650-ACAAE3-UK, 85% Eff', 80 PLUS Bronze, SLI/CrossFire, EPS 12V, Quiet Fan, ATX v2.31

That bundle is £75.59 which isn't bad at all considering most PSU's are £50. However the case looks really small and everything looks tight to fit lol..

So can anyone recommened either a PSU, Case or both in a bundle on any site such as, Scan.co.uk, Novatech.co.uk, Overclockers.co.uk

Not looking to spend a lot, so £60 max on the PSU, and £50 max on the case.

Thanks for any replies!

Edit - Looking at this atm,

Quote from Daffyflyer :That's something I've been attempting to convince my programmer/co-designer to impliment, but its very low on the priority list right now.

Ah right, looking forward to the demo

You can't see the torque curve in real time as we decided it'd be too annoying to wait for the engine to do a full run every time.

We're still tweaking the sounds and plan to add a starter motor sound, and some lift off backfire for highly tuned engines, probably a rev limiter too

That's awesome!

Ah right, would it be possible to add a option where you can choose whether to watch it in real time?

That sounds great too, really cannot wait for this

Quote from Daffyflyer :No, they are generated, we gave up on recordings.

You could import your own sounds, but its a lot of work!

Oh right that's cool!

Will there be variable valve timing? is it possible to see the torque curve in real time?

Also is it possible to get the car to bounce the rev limiter at the end of the run?

Quote from atledreier :That's an incredible range of sounds and variations to record, if the sounds do as advertised.

I think it is just distorted and played with to match specific engines?

This is your problem, your motors are probably clogged with shi* so you need to take them out and give them a very good clean.

You also probably have fried the two mosfets on the circuitry board, you can get replacements from a online shop somewhere.

Quote :Broadly speaking, before entering into details, the failure is due to the destruction of the 2 MOSFETS that drive the motors which create the spin and force feedback of the steering wheel.

(I had the same problem and fixed it with this guide)

Read it fully and you should be able to save your wheel!

Quote from atledreier :These are generated sounds I think?

Mm I'm sure they are recorded, as I remember seeing videos of them recording sounds from their own cars?

But they may well be, not sure tbh..

Will we be able import our own sounds into the engine designer?

Sorry if you have said previously or said in the video (didn't watch it fully)

Quote from hairyspheers :Hello all.

I am building a shifter using a non-force feed back joystick. The joystick of choice was the cheapest I could find, the logictech attack 3. I have dismantled it, removed the center spring, handle, and rerouted the handle buttons to outside the joystick.

With the handle buttons outside the housing, I have used 2 of the 5 buttons available for my DIY clutch pedal and reverse button. I am think if I should use the third axis for my handbrake or use as the clutch instead of a button. With either clutch or handbrake, I will need to find a gear combo that will work with the available axis.

To my amazement, the rubber boot is strong enough to center the joystick still. I am currently brainstorming how to get the stick to stay in position when shifting. Any ideas or successful designs?

There was a program that allowed the joystick to act as a H-Shift, it used force feedback to lock into the 'virtual gears'

I think it was this one,
