Warning: Modifying your car will make a small niche of people think you are cool, and everybody else think you're a t**t.

I've been there and done it, so i can't really talk, but luckily i got out of it, after loosing about £1500 in 12 months on an M Plated citroen AX. Probably paid too much in the first place.

Although its not the best, i'm fairly happy with my R440. Let me know how you get on, may have to compare settings.

yes, i have LFS on both my pro-rig (my lappy with a Saitek wheel), and my away-rig (works computer with a mouse and lots of outlook express and quotes for shiny new volvos getting in the way.)

as i understand it, its more "So LFS has got a BMW licenced in it already, can we have another licened BMW? By the way its got dynamic camber which might be hard to implement"

But as far as i know the BF1 licence is from Sauber, not BMW, as BMW just supply the engine.

Mmm, yes indeed! Think i'm getting a Brilliant Blue SE, but may be having the concept car SE Sport, which would be nice. I don't care, i'll have either!

Off Topics down the bottom, this is a forum related to LFS, and Tech is a sub forum for people who are having problems with running the game.

Edit: Damn my fliddy slow typing fingers, damn them to hell!!!

Gotta be honest, that made bobbins all sense to me, but i'll believe you. If someone is willing to give it a bash, i'll up/downgrade firmware as and when i need to. Mostly just use it as a glorified ipod anyway.

Wahey! Thanks. Is sarcasm only a Brit thing?
PSP Outguage display?

Anyone tried to do this yet? Seems like it would be ideal to have a similar style to Kegetys app that runs on N-Gage. Also, as PSP can either use WIFI or USB, would be good.

Anyone got any thoughts on this or fancy having a bash at it?

Sounds like calibration. In game, go to controls, wheel/FF, calibrate axes. Wind the wheel all the way left to right, stamp on all the pedals, then click calibration lock.

Often happens to mine.

Habit - i need to learn to left foot brake, but its a lot harder for some reason, i always overbrake left footed, on the road or in game.

Probably just need to train my left foot to be as precise as my right.

Still not keeping the game consistent, AFAIK LFS calculates weight based on the volume of the mesh, so if i've got an XFG (standard) and you've got an XFG with a lower volume mesh on it, then you're gonna have an advantage. And then i'll change so i'm equal with you, and everyone ends up racing the same.

Remember Gran Turismo 2? Everyone wanted the escudo, coz the only car that couldn't beat it was the escudo. So it takes no skill to win until everyones at the same level.

-1 - games fine as it is.

Now i'm not all up on this online computer playing, my computers only got half a gig and 2 Rams.

But perhaps hidden somewhere in that message your getting, it could be to do with the bandwidth on the server that your using? Perhaps you may be exceeding it?

As i say, i'm a bit of a novice, and these messages are never that clear but maybe we could be on the right track?

Well, IRL, there are a couple of things that are unmeasurable, like 'amount of smoke' and artistic appeal. So they're pretty subjective really. Other than that, its angle and speed, which are measurable, so i think you're on the right track with it, just gotta make sure your drifting when scoring, as opposed to having a long winded off (where most of my points come from.)

Well dear boy, you see running in an engine is very much like making love to a beautiful woman. You've got to warm them up, ride them hard, and leave them smoking and ready for more.
<Probably british humour, never mind>

Anyway, basically the idea of running in is to clear any crap out of the engine, and get all the parts used to running alongside each other. But really, you can either do that for a long time at low revs, or up the revs and drop the time!

Do it, well worth it! Loads more cars, access to over 800 car/track combo's, single seaters, LFSWorld (track personal best's, mileage driven, time off world records etc),

Go for it buddy!

well i can see the logic behind the request, as a standard Lotus-7 rep (be it caterham, dax, tiger, quantum, whatever), can be made with pretty much any engine you want, so +1 for the idea.

However, -1 for the practicality, as there are so many options, it would be impossible.

Next you'll be asking for De-Dion rear suspension on them!

the handling is actually fairly spot on! Having built and driven one, they are very VERY dependent on how they're set up, especially suspension, tyre choices etc. Also all depends on engines, rear axle setups and so forth as to the weight distribution.

But i agree with Tristran, if you drive it like your driving a computer game, it'll bite you in the ass. If you consider that you're driving a car with a minimum cost (new) of about £12000 upwards, and you've put all the work into it, you'll find it a lot smoother.

I'm somewhat confused as to where this thread is going? Appears to be you saying your an absolute spunktrumpet when it comes to driving, although from what you're saying you've actually got very little idea of what causes a burnt out clutch? Also, a clutch will usually be 'run in' or bedded in within a few miles.

As for manufacturers, i've been selling new Toyotas and then Volvos for the last 2 years, and i haven't mentioned running in for either of them, its not needed any more due to improved manufacturing processes.

Also, i like the a fast run in makes a fast engine. I had my old car apart and dit piston rings, head work etc, put it all back together and drove the b****cks off it, and never had a problem, loosened it up much faster.
