Reassuring to hear that others are finding it slower too, I find it frustrating but still don't want to go back to paddle shifting road cars.

This will probably sound pretentious but should we invent a name suffix which lets people know we're running gated shifter, 720 degrees, heel-toe, cockpit view? Something like nickname.G25x?

Basically the macro meant LFS thought your button was an actual analogue clutch pedal moving very fast.

I think if you miss the optimum braking point by a margin you shouldn't be looking to turn towards the apex, you should accept a wider line so as not to affect anyone behind you, this way you can brake deep into the corner and coast around the outside before picking up speed again, exactly as felplacerad did in his video. :wizard:

Cheating is a strong word, but, unfair advantage maybe?

In S1 you could set a button to do manual clutch using macros, that was cheating, button clutch is OK because it simulates the time it takes to press the pedal [etals:]

If I remember correctly LFS used to use the exact system you describe, where the clutch disengages whilst you're holding the shift button.

There was a time when people wrote macros to change gears and perform the clutch in one fast action (quicker than could be done with a pedal), this "macro-clutching" was banned in the more pro-orientated leagues and may be the reason why it's changed now.

I wouldn't worry, I think someone's just turned the http security on to keep others out, whether that is the owner keeping a hacker out or vice versa remains to be seen!

It sounds like from what's being said that many people are using in-car with a very low field of vision which puts you at the top of the steering wheel near to hood view anyway, rather than showing a large amount of the cockpit, so the two are very similar.

Having said that though setting the low FOV means everything looks really close together and appears to move really slowly (or is it the other way round?)

My feelings exactly, you have a steering wheel and a desk in front of you which are where the dashboard and interior would normally be, so why have another set of these "inside" the screen?

The counter-argument is that obviously in a real car you can't see the wheels and being able to see them allows you to place the car more easily than in real-life.

My favourite view is to use custom view, turn all the car interior/exterior rendering on and place the camera basically where the windscreen in front of the driver would be, so that the monitor screen becomes like the windscreen of the car (or the driver's side of it). Basically a kind of over-bonnet cam.

Were you around in the S1 days? I've just returned having not played since around the time S2 was released. In S1 most people would use the FXO most of the time, because it was so much quicker/more consistent than the other options. (I think rear-wheel drives were easier to keep on the road after S2). There were a few who insisted on sticking with the rear-wheel drive (myself included!) but these were a minority.

To be competitive in leagues you had to run the FXO, and everyone practiced in that car.
