Put up an MoE job board for positions available.

Id love to get involved but would need to be shown what to do. Watched some of the Aston 24 hour race and it blew me away! I live in BC, Canada and have excellent interent connections; and can boost the power if need be.

If there is anything I can do, email me: thain(at)motordirex.com.

Quote from Lateralus :That perspective is deceptive, because it doesn't have any elevation detail. Road Atlanta is nearly always climbing or descending. The final corner in particular is quite steep.

How the guys in the AMA take that corner full tilt, balls to the wall I will never know. They dont call that event in the AMA calendat the Big Kahuna Nationals for nothing.

Quote from SamH :I think we may need an evening of beta testing with volunteers, if the difference between the GT2 cars is genuinely so significant.

Depending on what time, I wanna contribute also.

Quote from chanoman315 :the weight added to the other cars makes them go slow at some curbs cuz of the transfer of the extra weight, BUT Fzr doesnt have any extra weight on it, so theres no slow cornerrs or so... i think we should use MOE balancing

Ok then, fine. Why dont we put it to votefor the GT2 class to either add some weight to the FZR or restrict its intake.

Quote from wizedo :Hi everybody.
I agree with John_Rees. Each car has its strenght and its flaws. According to my driving style, if we can call it a "style" , and "experience" i feel more comfortable riding the XRR. Besides, the Gt2 restrictions give some advantage to the FZR due to a simple fact. No added weight. So, think about it. You have the same braking performance and the same grip of the Gt1. No turbo lag. Less power to deal with which makes it a bit easier to control.
But, you can drive the tbo gtrs just like the old-school guys used to do. Throttle tapping (avoiding the turbo to slow down too much) and there you go! But still, on fast tracks it is quite hard to catch up. On slow tracks the other gtrs show their turning capabilities and have more potential over the fzrs.

Thats my opinions, based on my "experience", so dont take it the wrong way.

Dont list to anything this man says. He can drives circles around alot of people in a shopping cart, so a cars performance is less as important to him. Us slow pokes need all the advantage we can get.

Quote from chanoman315 :i agree with Delgado.... the FZR is faster by a LOT against the other GTr's in the GT2 class...

Its faster, but not ALOT faster. Driver harder, m8.

Quote from Dru :Personally I would also say that the differences are due to the drivers as well

It's horses for courses - the same as the GT1 versions - in some places the FXR rules, whilst in other places the XRR or FXR are king...

As a beta tester back in the summer they were pretty balanced... the only thing is now whether or not PAtch Y has changed things drastically??? from my point not really - the above statements are still true

Agreed...to a point. Ive spanked guys in FZR's in my FXR and vise versa. I think depepnding on the driver, the FXR and XRR can be just as potent. At Westhill reverse, my PB is around a second off the what the front running FZR's are doing during the race; their 1:40's to my 1:41's.

Wisedo from the PLZ team cracked into the 1:07's at FE Green the other night in a XRR; I had nothing for him on that tight track with the AWD advantage.

On bigger tracks like Kyoto and Aston, the FZR walks away from most with any decent driver. On those tracks, the draft-tow is an XRR and FXR's best friend.

EDIT: that means I think the cars are pretty equal at the moment.

Quote from gohfeld23 :I highly disagree with you on this as I'm quite fast on all the tracks I hate and almost the oposite on the ones I love.
Not sure about you but not all of us race LFS to win a race.

As ive argued for more realistic tracks for a long time, I won't repeat myself here today.

So if I read you correctly, your fast on the tracks you hate, but slow on the ones you love?

Well, what is a "realistic" track?

I like this one: http://i32.tinypic.com/b5p4bp.jpg

I need more GT2 tracks the FXR can hang with the XRR and FZR.

Quote from pauliaK :Good for you GT racers then. Both SS2 and SS3 servers are always empty or if not theres a ~4000+ points limit at SS3 and racing on SS2 with two different cars is definitely not the way to attract people racing there... Reorganising SS2 might be the way to solve this problem, I mean leaving only one car without any restrictions.

I was giving you an option, no need to get your panties in a knot.

I do however agree with a 107% type rule. Just because you have a Gold or Platinum license doesnt mean your going to be fast in the track and not be a moving chicane. Its not fun beating someone or losing to them when the lap times are 3 to 4 seconds difference. Id rather win or lose by ten tenths, those are the best races.

Quote from Boris Lozac : I can be fast, that's not a problem, but i'm not enjoying it

BS! We only complain about tracks we arent fast at...I know cuz Im one of them. But Im in no position to point out faults of a track because Im not quick there - its my driving that needs to improve, not the circuit.

Quote from deggis :
I don't get that

How could you not get that. He means instead of trying to replicate a real life track and its no where near the it should be, make fictional tracks that no one has any experience driving on. And I agree.

If you cant be fast on any track then thats your fault, not one bit to do with the track itself. Everyone else seems to be comping, whats your issue?

Quote from pauliaK :Whay do you guys think?

Get off the S1 servers.

The GT1 and GT2 classes on CTRA Race 3 have some of the best drivers in LFS bar none. That will end any awful racing experiences because of other drivers.

Good, Im glad you dont like them because you cant get a "natural feel". All that means to me, who does get a good feel from the tracks you dislike, is that Im going to be able to beat you.

When I see tracks like Kyoto, I see what in r/l would be a track designed on a computer, where as Fern Bay and Blackwood are tracks with character.

But to back you up, Blackwood and Fern Bayt are harder tracks to get a feel for. You have to come to the track, it aint gonna come to you.

Quote from The Moose :I only use a FOV of 65 in cockpit view, so i don't see the side mirrors in most cars either. The side mirrors only show the same as the centre mirror anyway, so i don't miss them. A quick flick of the look left/right buttons does for me.

I was doing that racing the GTR's, but found I lost the "speed" sensation then if I was out more(stupid mirrors), or if I went with the tyre view.

In the single seaters I run full cockpit, but tin-tops, its tyres.

Not using the cockpit view improves my frame rate alot which is more important then adding to the realism of me driving in my living room.

Im not getting why you would want your tyres to cool off faster? In r/l club racing, tyre warmers are used to maintain heat between races. They do this because of two things really; heat cycles and getting the tyres to race temps faster on the track.

Yes there is that chance that if you over cook them and they turn to mush that yopu do want to cool them off a bit, but that usually only happens if your driving like a mad man. Any smooth driver wont have that issue: drifters need not apply.

No. Faster cars does not mean better racing; look at F1.

Tintops like SuperTourers yes, 800hp prototypes, no.

You want to avoid crap drivers stay off the race 1 server.

Some are so ignorant I wish my tab button was an EMP so their comp shuts off instantly.

And its funny cuz its the same ignorant drivers that are first to cry "I'll report you!" if anyone else causes them to have an incident.

But yes, Sam and co, excellent job as always. To be honest, if it wasnt for the CTRA I prolly would race LFS once a month if that. The hole CTRA setup is top knotch in my opinion compared to other servers.

I went onto a drift server last night to check it out. I didnt drift, just watched to see what all the hype was about. All I found was a bunch of guys talking about Britney Spears sister being pregnant, Jessica Biels nipple and how stoned they were. The few guys on the track were just pissing about, no real drifting goin on what so ever. They spent more time in the grass then on the track. 15 people listed on the server and 99% of them using it as a chat room.

NO to drift cars and NO to any type of drifting track. Waste of bloody time and effort.

It would be cool to see a sort of "support" class for the STCC showing highlights from the support race before STCC broadcasts.

With that in mind, Server 3 and the GT2 class has had some of the best sim racing Ive ever experienced. Good clean drivers with nose to tail battles throughout.

Agreed, but as an online option that in order to enter the pit "options" area for setup changes, etc, you have to pit your car.
