Ever think the "problem" (whatever it may be) isn't demo users/licensed users but more a problem of kids being kids?

I'm 37 years old and had been racing LFS for 4 years and racing PC sim racing since 1995. I've never attacked people in forums or in online games, nor do I recall the many other folks around here in adulthood attacking people. I do see many many petty little bickering between children not just on this forum but on all forums of all subjects.

Children like to feel superior to others, aka demo vs. licensed users. That's the bottom line. It's never going to go away as when the children of today mature and grow up, a new batch of children take their place.

I have an 8 and a 5 year old, and every day I hear the same bickering, only on a different subject. It's just kids being kids.

That thing would be fantastic! And with all the extra features of 4 more buttons and LEDs, we could probably expect it to be well under $700(USD)!

Quote from Xaid0n :www.simviation.com and www.flightsimx.co.uk are good websites for downloads and reviews ... Avsim would have been one had someone not hacked the damn site

They never got it back up? I thought they were close to redoing everything and having it available again. Though I haven't done much of anything on the computer lately, including LFS and flying.

Quote :@ rogers - ditto on wspilots ... when do you fly there?

My GFX card crapped out (overheated). I'm back on the stock onboard chip, so there's not much other than web browsing going on with the computer. Thus, as I said above, I'm not doing much including racing and flying. When I did fly, I flew on WSP World Tour server and flew in the evenings eastern US time. I used Nighthawk as my server name and flew a lot with a guy named Satellite (WSP user name).

Quote from BlueFlame :If they are having an issue with something (that the forum allows) then they should go out of THEIR way, to alter it. If they don't like clicking links then ****ing tough.

Pay attention BlueFlame. It's numbskulls who can't be bothered to click and delete images when they quote stuff that is the problem. The images have already been seen in the actual post and normal forum posting etiquette would be to remove the images when you reply to a quote.

Again, it's normal forum posting etiquette. Are you new to forums?

Quote from evilpimp :Did you even see or read what the consipracy theories are???

And did you see the Mythbusters episode that the quote you post was refering to?

Shadows pointing in 2 different directions - Mythbusters showed how the geography of the surface made the shadows to appear that way. It did on their model as well.

Astronauts being well lit under the shadow of the craft - Mythbusters showed how the light reflected off the surface of the moon (their model's surface) and lit up the astronaut. Same concept of how you can be photographing into the sun/light source and photograph a subject that is lighted well with reflected light.

I don't know about the crosshairs thing.

Sheesh, you guys have hardly any miles on used cars and they are dirt cheap! No wonder you guys don't take loans out on cars.

Most of those cars would be 200,000 mile worthless rustbuckets over here where I'm at.

I'm confused as well. The only thing I can do is click on some kind of object that I have no idea what it is, and it disappears. Then I have the colored light thing. That is it other than clicking around the room looking at stuff that doesn't do anything.

I have to ask, why do you guys call scooters, "mopeds"?

This is a moped....

See the motor and the pedals, hence the name "moped".

Quote from 5haz :
People who use bold or capitals or very large, bold capitals etc to emphasise points in their posts. Its very immature and unrefined, if you must emphasise points then why not use italics? It has the same effect just in a more respectable, understated way.

Yup, have to agree with you there. Although I am guilty of using just regular CAPS often. The reasoning is, it is much easier to just hold the SHIFT key down when typing than it is to bother with typing the "[ i]....[ /i]". I'm mainly a keyboard user and very rarely touch the mouse for anything other than clicking the reply button or using the scroll wheel.

Quote from marzman :Actually, that is what i like about it. Otherwise it would consume to much time.

Yup. I play CyberAirlines and you have to let the aircraft fly realtime. You have to fly short half hour flights and log on every half hour throughout every day to get anywhere in the game. Not nearly as nice as just being able to log in whenever you want/have a chance.

I have automatic AWD in which it runs FWD until it senses slip, then kicks in the rear PTO. Just slide the back around, find your favorite enemy, line up, get the fronts to slip, and send the little pieces of plywood under the rears flying

Quote from Furiously-Fast :Check mine out. It's OK to open the bonnet, right?

I got optional Civic parts from a french site with almost every single car base!

As long as you credit who made the part.....

That would be the database of the sister site of another game like this (the original, they aren't taking registration.)

www.pixelcarart.com (since it isn't the actual game, I'll post it.)

That is the site all about pixelcars with a ton of base cars and millions of parts. Good tutorials as well.

Quote from Blackout :Well, keep it for a week then? If there is no demands, like being owner of the vehicle for the last 6 months, you should go for it. You could always play dump with an accent and say ye just herd of thay scheme. If they start asking questions, if you have glasses, loose them because they make you look too smart.

Yup, it has to have been registered for the past year and insured for the past year.

VR isn't about landscapes or night. It's about low light rather than night light. I don't have experience with it, but I've seen it said many times that it can get you 2-3 stops which could be the difference of having camera shake and not having camera shake, especially at the long end if you were shooting say 200-300 mm and couldn't get a speed up past 1/160 -1/200 and can't get the ISO up any farther because of noise.

Quote from Blackout :What if you bought some small car (that makes that 18 mpg) crap car for pennies and traded that for the scrap money? Or are they all just gone, or is there something stopping people doing this?

Probably the fact that you would have a date of sale on one day, then trying to trade it in the following day would throw up some flags on it.

Quote from DTrott :My car failed its MOT the other day.

Wasn't major, needed a new part for the suspension link, which only cost £12 and 10 minutes to fit. Also needed new wiper rubber for the front.

Fitted them yesterday to get the partial retest today and they say they can't do it. It'll only take them 10 minutes to do. Bastards.

I need the car for monday as well, as I'm meant to be going to the zoo, but I don't think it's gonna happen now

Yup, that was me. I already did the front rotors just to do them and my wife said, "You know it's out of inspection, right?" Oops! That was July 1st and it was due in June. Instead of the inspection being due the same month every year matching vehicle registration, now the shop can put the date exactly one year so if you are early or late, the next year it will be due a different month. I thought it was due for July.

It failed the rears, which I was going to do the following pay. So we've been driving it now hoping not to see cops (not hard to do in hillybilly country where I live) for 10 days now. All the shop has to do is look through the lots of space in the rear wheels to see the rotors and pads and it's done. They can't do it until next week.

Quote from Shotglass :solution 2: dont buy american cars/cars made for the american market (with the possible exception of hiluxes)

Yeah, you got me there. It was $18k vs. $30k+ though, a big difference for the type of vehicle we needed/wanted between US manufacturers and the Japanese manufacturers.

And there is no Hilux made for the American market. It's now the Tacoma and it is a POS compared to the old tried and true Hilux (incidentally, the 4 cars I mention above would be the Nissan Altima, Toyota Hilux, 4Runner 1st generation, and a Tacoma - 585,000 miles worth combined.)

Gotta get to bed now. Too much guitar watching on youtube tonight.

Quote from Shotglass :solution: get an old car thats actually good and enjoyable to drive

Not a suitable solution. Need something reliable that gets me to work. Something old that sits in the driveway torn apart constantly negates the reliable part.

Cars around here with over 150k don't make it long. Everything is rusted and makes fixing too much of a chore when you HAVE to have it by 5 am the next morning. When every time you touch a bolt with a wrench it breaks off because of rust, it isn't fun. I've done my share of wrenching on old cars the past 10+ years with a combined total of 585,000 miles on the last 4 cars.

That said, I bought my wife a new vehicle 2 years ago. It has 35k on it now and failed the yearly inspection on the rear brake rotors. The REAR! Those same combined 585k miles on the last 4 cars (all Nissan and Toyota) I've only touched brake rotors twice to have them turned and I just replaced the rotors on the Altima at 165k last week. The "new" Ford garbage just had to have all 4 rotors replaced at 35k! So much for "Quality is Job 1" or whatever their saying is nowadays.

I was hoping to be able to post again here with a new car. There is a new government program out nicknamed "Cash for Clunkers" over here. They are trying to entice folks to buy new and better economical cars. It is a $3500 credit for a car that gets 5 mpg better than your current and $4500 credit for 10 mpg better.

I was getting a bit excited as I also have a huge discount on Nissan vehicles. I had my eye (web browser eye) today on the Nissan Sentra 2.0L 6 sp manual (I'm dying to get back into a manual transmission. This girlamatic stuff is killing me...)

Now I see the problem with our wonderful government's thoughts. There is $1 billion set aside for the program. Problem is first, if you take the credit trading your car in, the car is automatically deemed scrap. This means that the dealer can not resell the car and you also won't be getting any trade value for your car. They are all going to the crusher. Second problem is, the limit for mpg on the car being traded is 18 mpg.

Why are these problems? They are problems because people who are running around in old clunkers that get 18 mpg are running around in them because they can't afford to get something better. Those running around in the big trucks and SUVs that are newer because of penis size compensation or whatever won't get any value for their vehicles over the credit and scrap value.

So, who would get this $1 billion set aside for the program? My guess is not many thus our government can slide that money where they want after the program is over (Nov. 1, 2009.)

A shame, I see Nissan listing their Sentra for $8700 new including a cash rebate and the clunker credit. On top of that, I would guess my Nissan supplier discount would knock it down further to about $6000.

I'd be looking at spending at least $5-6000 on something 10 years used if I wanted something decent. I could get something BRAND NEW for that if only they would bump the trade mpg up 3 mpg.

Grrrrr.... I'm getting really sick and tired of constantly working on an old car!

The whole point of pixelcars is to use paint. Though Photoshop, Gimp, and similar makes it easy, it's better to set up editors like that to just use single pixel pencil to do your drawing and stuff. That way you stay more in tune with the concept.

I use both paint and Photoshop. I used photoshop mainly to make parts selections as it is quite difficult to do that in MSPaint (I always end up with white space around my selection.)

This site is tied in to another pixelcar roll play forum game, but it has great info on how to create a pixelcar. Here is a good tutorial on how to create a car from scratch...

I am going to try my hand at doing a Toyota Hilux, pre Tacoma (you guys still call the Tacoma the Hilux I think) and I am going to do a Mazda Tribute (my current vehicle) since I can find neither already done.

Quote from DieKolkrabe :Book: The Associate - John Grisham

Non-book: This thread.

John Grisham books are good.

Clive Cussler is my favorite. I just read Shock Wave again as I had nothing new to read while sitting on the pot.

I just started James Patterson - The Big Bad Wolf.
