Hey, so my friend lent me an oculus quest to try out, I of course tried it out in LFS, that went smooth.
The issue is, now when I open LFS, it launches oculus Link software anyway, even when I set it to 2D mode and after 1 minute LFS just closes without an error msg, it doesn't matter if I'm in menu or on the track. Any ideas? Thanks
//edit: I don't have the oculus anymore, so it's not connected
I think this is the culprit. On the old patch I used .80 steering centre reduction (talking about mouse). In the new patch with 0.80 it feels just off, can't seem to predict the car (I'm guessing muscle memory). When I tried a couple of settings, 0.85 feels closer to the old, patch, I can drift easily. Theres definietly a difference.
The feeling for mouse drifting (and racing) definietly changed with the 900° steering , I suppose it's because the steering is non-linear with the mouse. I think it just takes time to adjust, but it's hard to forget 15year old muscle memory.
The thing is, this was supposed to be a drifter friendly update, but I think this will just force many users away.
Would it be possible to switch to H-shifter instead of a sequential gearbox? Its difficult to drift with paddles. Not a lot of people have dedicated sequential shifters with their wheels. It's just an idea, no need to get into it if it's complicated.
Well it's possible, but drift cars don't run such wide tires on the front anyway. Maybe adjustable tire width? But I guess that's too much to get into now.
The XRR runs 335 width on the front according to some info I found on the forums. For example, the highest allowed tire ON the REAR in Formula D competition IRL is 305 on the heaviest class. Nobody would drift with 335 on the front.
In my opinion, 45 is enough for street cars, 60 could be good for the higher powered cars.
Might wanna look at Asetto Corsa for that and how they handle it.
Of course copying models from other games without permission is not legal but it happens nevertheless. (Happens right now with LFS too) - Supporting this kind of a discussion while not allowing copied models on the forum is the right way to go IMO.
The most shocking are the UF1/UFR interiors. How can a "finished" game have this as main content? An average 3D designer could throw that together in a day or two.
I mean I know you propably mean well, but this right here, from a programming standpoint, is complete garbage. You cannot judge a engine by folder names .
To port LFS to one of these engines would require years worth of work, especially for just one programmer.
LFS is past it's golden age, we all have to agree on that. I don't think a single update will bring it back to life. Continuous consisent updates though...
