I've always thought it would be handy to have a short list somewhere on the forums or elsewhere listing some of the new features/ideas they are working on.

I know the developers wouldn't want to promise things that they might not end up doing but Scawen often gives hints at what they are looking at so it would just be useful to have these in one place for reference purposes.

Before I get jumped on! I'm not suggesting they do it, just saying it would be a useful addition and might keep some of the critical posts at bay.

Talking of which is there are a recent post by one of the devs on what may be coming up?

For me it's just the tracks that are lacking.

A couple more environments would be superb.

I would be lovely to have a Monaco, Brands Hatch or Silverstone though.

I'm sure most folk would get excited about that even if it wasn't 100% realistic (which I know is a reason stated in the past for not doing real tracks)

Good one this since I had the same. Black screen and nothing.

Just press Escape and it comes up with the first screen!

Fooled me for about a minute.

It happens when you shift down too early and the engine speed is too fast for the gear.

Try doing this for a couple of laps - you'll soon lose power and top speed.

There are too many formulas in LFS right now and I don't see it is good for the consistence of the servers and the community.

How would pulling the FOX help that?

Again, of course it is just my opinion, but I won't see any problem forgeting the FOX.

And plenty of others would see a problem in it.

There's no reason to pull any car as I see it. Servers will just fill with the most popular cars anyway so it doesn't matter if there are 10 or 50 different cars.

Dear me.

To imagine the FOX dying is very unlikely.

It's one of the most popular cars right now.

Clearly it will be used less though.

I think the popularity of F1 will improve significantly with Y though - it just feels much better

Quote from Drift2007 :Is it in every car or just like F1 ones.

It's a shimmering effect when going over bumps - try any single seater at South City and you'll see what I mean

One thing I haven't seen mentioned but is quite cool is the reduction in clear vision now in some of the cars particularly the FOX - it feels like you really are inside the car. Will make races harder though for concentration.

Well I've got a 7100GS and it runs pretty smoothly with everything jacked up in LFS barring the dynamic LOD reduction set to 0.20.

I then add 2x Anisotropic Filtering and leave Antialiasing to application control on nvidia control panel.

Tend to get 60-70 fps when hotlapping and down to 25 fps on a full grid.

Sussed it!

It's when the degrees of rotation are below 270 in the logitech settings.

ive only used my dfp once to check it and realised this, im figuring its just the noise of profiler changing the lock to what you have set for lfs?

Sadly not, they are identical.

Also. Did you know if you hold the right padde + R3 + select it locks the wheel to 180deg. To unlock it again do the same. Just tell me if Thats the clicking sound when you minimise it. Thanks

That's the click!

My problem is that when I have LFS in focus but then Ctrl/Alt/del out to check and email or whatever the wheel (Driving Force Pro) makes a clicking sound - like it's recalibrating and then makes it again once I put the focus back on LFS.

This is irritating because I noticed (for some reason) that the wheel had stopped doing it but has now restarted and I can't think of any reason for that.

I've tried reinstalling the logitech driver to no avail.

Quote from Aiden McGeady :It's coming along very well. For instance, for some reason, I was doing embarassingly bad in the XRT yesterday (my laps were 4 seconds off my regular laps. o.O), but then I had a FOX duel with someone at BL and won all the 3 races to make up for the XRT fiasco. I only need to cut about one second off my BL FOX time to be within the benchmark.

I really liked racing in the FOX, it's a very controllable car that allows for more aggression in racing. I was never worried about crashing into the other guy because I had full control of the car at all times and could turn, slow down or accelerate anytime I wanted. I could focus on battling for position, rather than having to focus on taking the turns without losing control.

Next step then is to join a league.

Shameless Plug -

It would be great to have a racer such as yourself in the GFC next season:

Quote from UncleBenny :News, Setups, Leagues, Track Guides and more at Gentlefoot.com

you really shouldn't need to link to every single part of your site in the sig. if its that hard to find something on your site then maybe it needs to be re-designed (which it isn't, there are headings for everything right on the top of the page).

You are clearly missing the point here.

By adding these in the signature noobies and other readers alike can find information and help on LFS. It's hugely relevant and actually adds something to the community.

I'll ask again - What do these continuous stalking type posts add?

Very nice selective quoting there.

What he actually says is :

Gentlefoot.com LFS News

Just what is your issue with GF?

I think you need to come out, be open and explain just what it is that makes you feel the need to keep stalking him on the forum.

Quote from Jakg :WTH.

I'm sure that the GFC is a well run event, i'm not saying it isn't, it's just that Gentlefoot's self publication is quite... humorous to the rest of the forum.

Why? humorous?

Positive, helpful and constructive would be my choice of words.

What are your comments Jak?

Negative, unhelpful and destructive.

I highly recommend both the CTRA and GFC servers.

Redline is also popular with some but they aren't that friendly to noob's in my experience.

Any time I've driven a car quick on public roads it feels soo much better than LFS. I'm sorry but whilst LFS is the best we have at the moment it's still worlds away from reality.

I don't want to put words into anyone else's mouth, but I think we just find it either ludicrous or piss funny (depending on mood at the time) that every post you make these days is plugging your website.

The substantive content of your original post was essentially back-patting praise of your league and a strategically-placed link to the league's site under the guise of contributing to discussion.

Rules were not really the subject at hand, as the topic was really the way that drivers treat racing in LFS, psychologically (i.e., why do some drivers play it safe while others take big risks; why do people perhaps over-readily protest risky moves; why do karters seem to have such a big chip on their shoulders , etc). These questions were being addressed somewhat intelligently and there was good discussion going on. Your redirection to the rules for the GFC is tangentially related, but it seems to be to be another thinly-veiled self-promotion tactic that disrupted the thread more than it contributed to it (again, in my opinion). Now, I may have disrupted it more directly, but this sort of activity has been getting on my nerves for some time now.

I realize that any attempt to critique you for your self-promotion activities on this forum is a) going to make me look like the bad guy ("GF is providing a great service for the LFS community and you just don't want good leagues in LFS to succeed!") and b) going to be dismissed as off-topic (it is, but sometimes things need to be said). I do want leagues to succeed, but I want them to succeed according to the established rules of the forum, which indicate that the vast majority of league promotion activity should take place in the league forum. I appreciate that you usually make some effort to fit your advertisements into relevant posts, but they remain advertisements all the same.

I think you should seriously take a step back and consider what these posts are adding to the LFS online community and how newbies will view these kind of posts.

Not positively I'd guess.

That is detrimental to us all. :weeping:

Always a good debate this one.

I'd love to see real tracks in LFS but if they don't come I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

But just to take android's points:

- They'd never be 100% accurate, so they'd always create moaning and complaining of some sort

You always get wingers regarding anything in life. This will be no different.

- Requests for real cars will skyrocket so people can compare real laptimes to ingame ones so they can finally "measure the realism"

Again, who cares? They can request all they like.

- Even without real cars, people will compare laptimes with whatever car comes closest and base physics realism on that

As has already been discussed this could actually work out in LFS's favour.

It's a tempter but I do prefer the single seater.

I may enter purely for fun though - the GFC is where my commitment lies though.

With regard to yellow flags it would be handy if CTRA could work out the percentage of yellow flags over past 20 races or so - almost like a yellow card form table.
