Had a damper fail on me, so I have ordered somma dese

£151 with next day, in an ideal world I want dampers now, but nowhere round here can get any, even OE and Shitpart will take at least Tuesday, so figured I'd get the dampers I've been mulling over for the last 5 months. Due here on Tuesday, assuming they are in stock, will hear back from supplier on Monday if they were able to track some down.
Yup, screw animals. Most dangerous thing in the world running over animals, more dangerous than drunk driving while speeding and talking on your mobile. I must be a monster.
If you excuse me, I'll go back to my ridiculously low premiums for never crashing, or getting any motoring convictions. T'is a tough life not causing a crash by avoiding rabbits, but I'll live.
Nothing I've done is idiotic driving. Impatient driving, but I have no intentions of getting myself killed, if I had to stop because an overtake wasn't possible, I'd be on the brakes harder than a proverbial. I can tell when I've stopped hard because it really unsettles the vehicle (3 ton of steel being asked to stop on a dime). Also usually requires me to coast slowly for a fair few yards to cool down the brakes.
Yes, I need to stop getting annoyed by tourists. But anyone who rolls a car for a rabbit, is going to kill someone. But heyho. My problem is solved by changing the tunes and chillaxing, just like I did on way home today, figured **** it and enjoyed the nice weather while stuck behind a convoy of caravans. Migz still needs a new car.
Although I've never crashed a car because I tried to avoid hitting a rabbit. In fact, I've never had a crash. Only time I question my own driving is when I get road rage from tits who do 40 everywhere or those who stop for no reason. This includes people who stop in the road to take a photo of the ****ing view. It is as though they were put on the planet to boil my piss.
Thinking about it, during tourist season, I get a lot of road rage. May need to consider moving somewhere with less tourists.
Audi did drop the AWD system. A new TT is FWD unless you buy the uber bells and whistles edition. Even then if you was buying one new I bet you could spec not to have AWD anyway.
And if you dislike it that much, you could always get a mechanic to remove the AWD system. You'll need a few parts from a Golf to make it happen, but is doable.
[edit: In fact, why didn't you just get a Golf? It would've been cheaper and more practical.]
It isn't the stopping, it is how much I get enraged by it. My tank takes about a year to get moving again and having to slam on I get stupidly close to their rear bumper. I live in a tourist area so am constantly behind people doing below the speed limit. As such I'm always trying to get round them. If I leave a big enough gap that I have a safe enough brake distance, I could never overtake anyone as I need so much room to do it.
Yes, I need to work on the road rage issue (unlikely to happen over summer though), but seriously, anyone who slams on for a rabbit or pheasant (9 times out of 10 they move before you're even close enough to hitting them anyway) shouldn't be on the roads.
Never stop for anything smaller than a dog and even then the highway code says if there are other cars on the road (behind you) do NOT carry out an emergency stop, just hit the animal. The amount of times I've had to leave my lane to avoid going up the arse of someone who slammed on to avoid hitting a rabbit or pheasant. It has got to the point where if I see a bird on the road and I'm behind someone I automatically start an overtake because I know they are going to jam on.
If it is a left hook it'll increase prices like no ones business.
If it is import it'll increase prices like no ones business.
Best thing you can do is phone a specialist insurer and talk to them. They will be able to do you a good deal. Standard insurance is of no use to you.
I cut my insurance bill in half for my RR by using a 4x4 specialist insurance company (a department of Adrian Flux for any LR owners) rather than anything you can find on confused.com and things of that nature.
You could try phoning Adrian Flux and say you're a member of Piston Heads. AF have a lot of discounts for car owners forums and such because they feel members of owners clubs look after their cars more than anyone else.
I use a 2TB NAS with Backup Assist (the NAS cost about £250 Backup Assist is about £150). Works nicely. Some NAS boxes come with backup software and some editions of Windows will have Native Backup, it isn't a brilliant but it works and is free.
For a low cost backup solution a 1 or 2TB external HDD and Native Backup. The only cost is the external HDDs. But you have to be strict with yourself and only use them for the backups.
It takes a couple of minutes for a HDD to get up to operating temperature. By the time you've booted windows all you're doing now is causing condensation inside the HDD wrecking it and your chances of data recovery.
I hear that technique banded around a lot and know of no instances where it has resulted in being able to recover data.
Marquees design cars to generate lift at speed as this saves fuel. Very few cars have downforce out of the box. The clue if your car has lift or downforce from the factory is drive really fast in a straight line. If your steering goes light and floaty, you've got lift. They also rarely "balance" a car. One factor always comes into play, budget. They can only spend so much time on areo. Low drag high lift are the order of the day to save fuel and be green. Adding a splitter will quickly make a car very oversteery as the lift over the front wheels is neutered.
If it is clicking it isn't the control board that failed, it is a head crash. The more you use it, the less likely you are of recovery.
You cannot recovery it with software however and you most definitely cannot do it for free. There are various HDD recovery firms around the UK. IIRC, we (the company I work for) use Disk Source, but it is a long time since we've had a drive in for recovery so can't be completely sure. These services cost a lot of dime though. There really is no point for games and pictures of you cock you haven't put on Facebook yet.
[edit: When switching the control board, it isn't a permanent solution. If it works, back up to a brand new HDD. Otherwise you'll be in the same situation quite quickly.]
My P38 is just shy of 200k on original engine/trans. Considering it is supposed to be the least reliable vehicle in the world, it is doing well. The weakest part of my RR is the same weak part on Scoobies. The gearbox.
I've never done it and I know hundreds of others who haven't. You must be trying to troll, it is the only reason I can think of for someone thinking that.
I worked hard so I could afford to get a licence, I worked even harder so I could get a car (2 years of work from getting a licence to being able to get my own wheels). I am not stupid enough to throw that away and someone else's life to send a text message. If it is so important you have to reply, find somewhere safe to pull over.
You got lucky in that it was only cosmetic damage. Don't push your luck, next time you could find yourself being the fresh fish to some knuckle heads.
Raise the rear and that'll be a good height. Don't completely ruin the handling of the MX5 by making it crawl on it's belly.
