Quote from Michael Denham :Unless you started playing before this forum started I started in August 2002, along with a lot of others, when the first demo was released.

I thought LFS was at RSC forums first... I would've guessed that I downloaded LFS in late 2002 or early 2003 and lfsforum was launched later. Not 100% sure though

The big failure in that replay was Calibra's skin

FXO seems to have a way faster WR but you all made a lot of mistakes. You had your possibilities to beat the FXO imo but you burned your tires instead. It wasn't too bad after a two-week break though. Try again and suprise yourself.

Don't take me wrong, I'm really into praising the RWDs. The car choise just didn't decide this race...

Quote from Kirill.D :Scoop, maybe you should do little PM spam before the round, to remind registrants that race is coming. It would be really dissapointing if only 10 cars would show up on track.

I think that a team needs a certain amount of commitment to enter a league like this. I'd really expect every serious team to remember and participate the races...

Quote from Scoop :...considering you with an XRR are faster after the first qual session then the fzr i don't see the point. I consider the balance we have now to be very good

I was watching the quali and saw n1 and Inferno drivers do a lot of mistakes. They will be a lot faster in the second quali as they will do some practising. Lehto's time was already quite good for XRR, under 1s away from Mooney's MoE qualifying time. And you know Mooney, his pace is quite... well... bawbaggish. In MoE the FZRs could do same times even with the ballast.

Quote from baSh0r :you know that in the MoE Westhill was dominated by XRR?

by the way fzr uses 100%

I have to say that you probably shouldn't compare this situation to the old balance. The tires have changed, the gearboxes have changed and indeed, the ballasts have changed. If I recall correctly you FZRs had 50kg more bonus weight onboard than we XRRs did.

I haven't driven this combo myself so I can't tell about my experiences on XRR or FZR. I've just read a lot about MoE balancing and watched the 24h race and the 15kg didn't seem to put FZR into shame. I also understand the FZR teams. You don't want to give the others any free advantage on the track. Neither would we want to.

I simply use it because I prefer this view and I have more FUN driving in this view. If you can understand it or not. I don't have to "explain" myself.

I'm not trying to be difficult now, don't get me wrong...
Have you ever tried to learn the cockpit view? As I told earlier in this thread I changed to it quite recently and I have used custom view for years. I'm sure cockpit view makes it easier to sense what the car is doing. I know you're a friend of good racing and I really would love to hear your thoughts about cockpit view after a few nights of training. I'm just being curious here

Oh my, you guys make this look complicated

Anyway... I've been on both sides. I used to drive with that custom view until the patch which added the option to force the cockpit view. I think it makes 4 years of LFS with just front wheels visible. Some people asked why I didn't use the cockpit view. I explained that with my poor CPU the cockpit would've hurt my framerate and only 1/3 of my little screen would've been showing what was happening on track. Then, suddenly there was a nice LX6@so1 server running and my beloved custom view was blocked.

This made me try how it worked with that stupid, long LX bonnet in front of me. My laptimes were many seconds slower and I had no clue where my car actually was. I was crashing all the time. Slowly I got used to it and almost got my custom view lap times back.

Afterwards I've tried the custom view a few times. The change from custom to cockpit view was quite natural and I was keen on learning it. Changing back to custom just feels horrible. I can't sense the directions properly and I find myself sliding around too much. Just the same things I was told earlier and I didn't believe. Now I'm 100% sure that cockpit view has made me faster as well.

I've never understood that someone really uses the chase view for racing, so I can't tell about my experiences with it. But no matter which view you're using now, I strongly recommend trying the cockpit one. Not just for one lap or one race, but for one evening or two evenings. I believe you'll find it rewarding.

I have no opinion on the poll but I felt that I had to say this

You must have see the demo guys doing good job as the S2 drivers seem to be quite a bit slower... And these guys have usually been reasonably fast in single seaters afaik http://icespy.zilium.de/pb/top/BL1/FBM/10

Great race, guys!

GT2 did mostly good job today, only a few close calls. Too bad one of them caused a proper crash.. Couldn't react to his line change quickly enough.

Thanks everyone, this was very entertaining and exciting race. See ya in Aston!

Search a Prt Sc button on your keyboard and then push it.
Next launch Paint or any other similar sophisticated tool and choose Edit/Paste.
Then save the screenshot. The function is usually nicely under File/Save As...
You're ready!

Quote from CRC Snightlo :Did race start at 16:00 CET Summertime or Wintertime?
And could the driver pool for a Team(one team each class) be bigger than 3 Drivers?

Dunno about the maximum number of backup drivers but at least you can't use more than 3 drivers on the track per race. This is because of the rule which tells that every participating driver has to do at least 45mins in the race. It's good to remember this so we don't see unnecessary penalties

Hey!

What a great utility indeed! I wonder why I haven't noticed this one earlier... The crosshair combined with the dot on the simple map is just what I was always longing for when using F1PerfView. That plus the ease of use in general is what makes this app great

If I may point out one disadvantage, I'd say I don't really like the all white background here, I'm too used to the F1PerfView colour scheme. If there is an option to change it, please tell me. Would be hard to find cons for this app then

Thanks.

Thanks for the race guys and congrats Inferno! This was quite an experience and FAC made loads of mistakes here...

We learned a lot and will certainly be stronger in South City.
