For LFS it actually does. Got still my 6800LE here.

Just run a 3dmark 2006 test with it and you´ll have the time to sail from the UK to the Netherlands and back again before the test would have finished.

Back to topic. The CPU has thermal throttling and no overheat would ever stop it from at least starting up the PC. (99,9% sure about this).
I just tested:
Without any CPU cooler and a P4B, 2.8ghz I, after 20 secs, still can have my fingers on this CPU..

If you can´t start your PC at all anymore check:
a) all cables to the motherboard, incl. the ones for the on/off switch.
b) CPU for propper seating.

And/or: Take the motherboard out of the cabinet, connect the PSU with motherboard and test with CPU&CPU cooler only, nothing else. Find the on/off switch contacts of the motherboard and shorten them for a second to start the PSU. (Page 28 in the manual, http://www.manualnguide.com/dl/11861/ ).
If now still nothing happens, it has to be a (likely physically) damaged CPU, a damaged PSU or a defective motherboard/bios. Last mentioned would make most sense as of your description.

Had him to run a couple of hyper pi ( 1M@35secs Q6300@63degrees) tests yesterday. Graphics or software related error, I think.

@ Post 32 & 33 : 8600GT 150-200 FPS?
@ Office FX5200 never under 35 FPS with a prob. single core P4 only?
I´m sure you got the Saltsa-Version of a FX5200 then.

The ppl. being against the usage of the HB all commit here, that they have used it by themselves some day. The degree of how much of a HB usage is tolerated are in question?
Then things are getting really difficult IMO.

The "Against the HB usage racers" could propose a carma-vote option for all of the WR holders at lfsworld.net.

The used term "Voluntary Work" has to be considered descriptional more then anything else and can therefore be used, IMO.
We´re once more are raising a generation of egoists, aren´t we? Calling for parents since years, but they´re too busy these days with their own, loads of these from the outside generated, problems and their lifes in general. They a kind of have failed and gouvernment can´t build prisons forever, can they? Action is needed here.
These 40 hours are a good idea as it will, for some few hours only, teach younger people more then their teacher in school, due to many reasons, would be able to archieve anyways. Finally, at the end of the day these young people will find it a most interesting experience, who know´s.

My Citroen BX brakes on all four tires using the handbrake. Should have know earlier about this technique. Tomorrow I´ll disconnect the front brake pipes.
Just gave it a try in the FXR, missed the " Q " button all the time and I´ve to wait for some daylight now.. .

Hard for me to see where the tolerated limits are on this subject tbo. and who sets these "guidelines".
I wonder if it would it be "ok" for all LFS rally tracks then or the usage of it in a 4x4 AWD.

What´s wrong with using a handbrake if a car has one and especially if it doesn´t make you any faster? Don´t get it.
