I *think* that falls under "/select=no" ?
iirc that worked for me in the past but it might just have been that once no one was choosing new tracks they didn't bother to end race and change laps...
Aside from all said in this thread clutches tend to be different enough in feel that as a beginner you almost have to re-learn from one vehicle to the next, so even if LFS did a perfect job you still would have trouble on YOUR car (unless you drive an XFG )
Its just practice and seat time, you will learn it. Though it may not hurt to read up on how it all works, aside from being pretty interesting its nice to have an idea what all those levers and buttons are doing
Dude, he runs a racing league so the majority of his dealings here have to do with that...get over it please.
Above that, this thread is about a race he is organizing, why wouldn't he link to information in it?
Furthermore he is taking the time to organize events, and hosting information on setups and track guides to give back to the community, what are you contributing besides following some one around trolling?
I a host 6 player S1 server called "HPDE" thats usually set to just be a practice session( though changes are allowed so it often get switched to what ever)
I believe CTRA hosts one, they are usually pretty well populated...

Reason : missed a word :P
Is anyone else bothered by the prevailing attitude that racing is out of reach for "normal" people?
Sure its a expensive hobby, but so are a tons of others that aren't so "out of grasp" (paintballing, scuba diving, almost any kind of collecting, going to clubs, ect...you could go racing for the cost of any of those)
At the very least find your local auto cross club, It cant be only in America that there is almost guarenteed to be one with in an hour of your house (hell I cam to find out that several clubs hold them in my small hometown, search the name of your area and solo2, or autox, or whatever in google and read through message boards that came up for contact info).
Racing is not elusive, and you don't have to spends thousands to do it at a grassroots level (again autox is like $50 an event and if your car doesn't explode if you run it through its revs your probably good)
Basicly if you can afford a G25 there is no reason you cant get into racing.
OK, OK...sorry end rant.
It doesn't sound like too bad an idea to me, so long as you can find the people I like the idea. Its always weird to me when people love sim racing but have no desire to try it for real...
I haven't really been here long enough to get annoyed by the demo guys yet...
But a lot of demo users do seem kinda rediculous in the way many put insane amounts of time into the demo without ever actualy buying the product.
Hearing about demo users who having been playing for years is not too uncommon, and aside from the fact that if they like the game enough to play the same track for years they should support its development its just annoying that people would be so cheap. (Maybe I am spoiled American but its hard to imagine $50 over a few years to be that difficult, specialy if your paying for a computer, internet, a wheel, ect...
Unfortunately no....not because we are mean, but because its computer network setup not hop scotch...Its gonna take some learning.
Not much though, its not THAT hard...as said Portforwarding.com is KEY.
In real life the port out at the dock is where shipments come and go....and in the computer world its kinda the same deal. Your IP address basically identifies the computer on the internet then different ports on that IP are used for different programs sending and receiving info. Your router needs to be set up to automaticaly forward the server info to the right port.
Most the time it seems you only need to forward port 63392, but if that doesn't work make sure you forward 29339 as well.
Just follow the guide for your router step by step and you should be good.
If I recall from right from the stuff I recently read before I bought my license it is even OK to set up a LAN game between the both of you so you guys can racer each other.
If you use IM and games at all Xfire is pretty key.
I was happy to see they support LFS when I bought S2...Its nice to have your IM's not minimize your game and even better that you can send/receive while playing.
The its nice to be able to just click a button and have it log into the same server as who ever you are trying to join as well.
Seems I'm a little late on this one...But I'm just getting settled into the game/forum...
I didn't play with the older patches, but just on principal I like it the way it is now...
As stated earlier the current reset it intended more for a demo booth, or for a session when you first learning the game....Its completely unrealistic and just lets you have a do-over...
Growing up playing video games I always had the list of cheats close at hand....They were irresistible when parts got really hard, or something "unfair" happened....or when I was just trying to mess around. Consequently I missed out on the full "experience" of a lot of those games because I didn't really play it all the way through...or accomplish the same things I would have playing the game without cheats.
As is now the reset option is so over the top that it isn't really an option for online servers. As I see it this was the intent? Its like a way to kill off the reset button in racing (where come on, it doesn't belong) but leave it for learning drivers. The third reset mode may wll have been remove because it was to widely used, and that wasn't the racing they wanted to see in the sim.
I'm not trying to put down cruise servers, I just really dont understand:
But if the point is to drive around slow whats the problem with reseting the cars damage? If the problem is barriers that launch you why are you guys using the barriers?
They are easy enough to pass clean, but In all my experiance they made NO attempt to modify there line based on what ever else was around them...
As a specific example for the test @ backwood I would pass the first 3 on the first corner, and come out of the chicane with enough speed to pull out on the right side of the AI...
The AI slowly sweeps his line across the track for the small kink in the straight...More then once I was stuck with out enough speed to pull in front of him, and If I didn't brake to fall behind him he would side swipe me about half way down the straight.....
They seem to just drive their line...no matter what.
Yeah, I dunno that LFS could do a proper super special stage?
They shouldn't actually cross but you would need a bridge or something that isn't gonna happen. Would be a lot cooler if it could be made one long track that has a bridge over itself so the outside lane can cross back over into the middle.
You did a good job with what you have though, looks like a fun course.
Some one needs to let the guys at Verizon know, Their router they just gave us with our new Fios service was keeping me off the master list until I saw it mentioned on portforward.com and added that one too.
one thing to note that I didn't see in a lot of the guides I read is that you need to forward port 63392 AND 29339. For some reason a lot of the guides I read didn't mention 29339 (or I'm blind)
