first of all thanks for responding and trying to help, I appreciate it

Is your OS downloading updates automatically? Yes but nothing is coming down right now or has in a while now and these problems started yesterday
What are you system and connection specs?

the weird thing is that this has just started happening today, I play LFS nearly every day with no problems up till now
I ran this pingplotter tool but have no idea how to read the results... I have attached it to see if you know what it means!
it seems there are many others who are experiencing this packet loss, just now I had a crackly sound coming through the speakers while trying to spectate on a race... all the time everyone is lagging and the game is jerking forward at regular intervals...
this is dissapointing... I really wanted to race tonight
hi I have started having this problem today. Exact same symptons as yourself. I have tried unplugging my wheel and pedals and trying the above suggestion but nothing makes a difference...
The only thing I can think of that I have changed ever with LFS is I downloaded all the setups from teaminferno in a zip file and put them in my setups folder, I did that yesterday and now I have this problem.
actually thinking about it the only thing that has changed is I d/l'ed all the setups from setup field in one zip file and put all them in, would that affect it do you think? That is the ONLY thing I have done different...
nope, was hoping for an easier solution as it means I gotta set up all my controls again seems like other people in this section of the forum are having the same problem with this packet loss... is anyone else having the problem since the latest patch?
Hi Scawen sorry I didnt check this thread before now.
I was running patch S trying to connect through the ingame browser. I can't for the life of me remember what version the servers were running but I assume it was U as most were at that point.
I keep getting disconnected, i am on patch u and havent changed anything since racing yesterday but i can get on a server, everyone is lagging (to me) and I am too, keep jumping ahead etc. then I disconnect with no error message
also, the little network bar things (sorry I'm not very technical lol) are not as they normally are, I have attached a screen grab of where they are at before i get the disconnect
So I've been racing for while now with LFS and have made a few tentative posts, so this is me formally saying hi and what a kick-ass time I have every single race in LFS
What I was wondering is now I think I am up to the point where I can hold my own in a race and know when to try and overtake and when to yield etc. I would love to get involved in a league/series where we race at set times with qualifying etc.
I was wondering if any of you that could point me in the right direction of a league that would cater for this. I am from the UK if that makes any difference with lag etc.
I've had a look in the league forum but can't seem to make out which ones are active?
Thanks in advance and look forward to some great organised racing!
Well, I was just thinking of the others who have that problem. Isn't there a program that alerts you to vehicles on your left and right side? I'm sure I've seen it working on my bro's pc with LFS...
Amen, you need to put some laps (a lot) in with different car/track combos to form an educated opinion, all different things seem alien at first, but persevere and you may change your mind
I hear you about it being a way of communicating that you are in a drivers blindspot... if that is what you mean. Mirrors are only so good to see where other cars are, especially if they are swerving about all over the place, so to say "you have mirrors - use them" is a little off the mark. I personally have Track IR which helps with my situational awareness, but I remember playing lfs without it, and I can see how limited the FOV is, in any game not just LFS...
My suggestion would be to include a "mini-radar" showing the position of your vehichle as a static icon and the position of other cars around you. I can't remember which game had this in but it worked superbly Of course, I am only a humble racer and this is my first post, so please tell me to feck off if you want lol
