Another exe with the debug messages... and a possible solution :

Assuming the mouse positions are correct in mouse messages other than BUTTONUP messages, this version simply does not update the mouse position on receiving a BUTTONUP message.

I don't think this has any adverse effect on the interface but may solve the problem for you guys. [...]

Nice job, it's working as expected now

Hi Scawen,

Just tried your modified .exe and it appears that it's what you said: click position and release position are different. It's like that only on side screens, whatever how you set them in LFS ( 1 - 1 - 1 or 1 - 1 - 0).

See the attached pictures: last click is when I clicked on the left number of screens.

Hi guys,

I'd like to thanks Scawen for his very good work.
The feature I wanted (triple screen external views) is back, and now we can even adjust screen angles... very nice options

Just a little problem though: it seems that the said "Option to force external views to use full width" isn't saved.

Quote from Velo Wringer :just tried that (even have 2 mice attached lol), but no response whatsoever, also blind click and enter 1 doesnt work. so you can really get stuck there ....

Quote from Scawen : I'm not quite clear here... views.bin is only loaded once, when LFS starts. Deleting it while LFS is running can have no effect, so that implies you had to delete it after exiting LFS. Is that what you did? If so then that means, if you don't delete that file, you can actually start LFS and already the mouse buttons are not clickable?

I remember Bob Smith said that the buttons were actually clickable, meaning they made a sound and changed colour, only problem was they did not do anything. Is that the same?

A lot of questions there but it's a puzzling issue...

I use SoftTh with 3 screens so I ran into this matter when I changed the number of screens. When LFS is set with 1 - 1 - 0 screens or the opposite, menus are moved to one side and buttons don't seem to work.

But in fact, it is possible to click the buttons. For example when everything was moved to the right I had to click more to the right, and below too. You just have to click randomly until you find one No need to delete anything, but I reckon it's not really comfortable.

Now I have a little request : In 3 screens mode, could you make an option to let us choose wether to render external views on 1 screen or on all screens ?

I ask that because I prefer the old way those views were rendered (even with the FOV beeing too narrow), and I'd like to have this back

Thanks in advance for any reply you may do.

Is it impolite if I try to get more attention ?

I have the feeling I went unnoticed. By the way, turning the number of sidescreens to 0 doesn't work.

Hi,

I'm not really posting a protest, I'm more asking for other opinions about 2 little incidents that occured between me and 555 - R. Gonçalves.

The point is I'm not sure if he had the right to "close the door" like he did, so I'd like your point of view.

Both happened during Race 3. 1st time was at lap 11, last turn before entering the oval part. 2nd time was at lap 13 right after 1st split, but this time I really don't know if he had to let me some room or if I just had to back off.

Thanks in advance.

Could you remove me from this race please ?

Thanks in advance

Quote from RobbyMac :So, is it possible to use glasses with dual or triple monitor setup do you think (As long as the monitors match refresh rate or whatever the requirement is) ?

I'd like too an answer to this question... just imagine what a triple screen 3D setup would be like

Unfortunately, I don't think many people know the answer.

I'd like to add something after watching Race 3 streaming and thinking about it:

I knew the rule about "no overtaking under Safety Car" but when I got crashed, I don't know really why but to me it was like "normal" to regain my position, because it didn't seem "normal" to get pushed out, lose 6 positions and stay behind. On the moment, the "no overtaking" part felt more like overtaking one guy, whereas I was only taking back my "legitimate" position in the field. Now I know I was wrong and I shouldn't have done that silly move.

Of course, as I thought I was right, I didn't understand the 45s penalty which came next, so I got angry ( nice guess Astra btw ) and chatted. I want to apologize for that part too.

Maybe the rules should be more detailed for dumb people like me. For example it should be written something like "if you get crashed under SC, you're screwed, just stay in the back and post a complain afterwards, DON'T GET BACK TO YOUR POSITION".

Overtaking under safety car periods IS dumb. The fact that you personally find such a rule dumb is of no consequence, a rule is a rule is a rule, which is a point which many many drivers who enter leagues fail to realise. You dont have to like the rules, just respect them. It's not your job to even question them, expecially within a race server, where your sole job - through choosing to be there - is to drive your car with respect to yourself and others on the track, following whichever dumb rules you agreed to follow by simply entering the series.

I had read the rules but unfortunatly didn't remember this one. My bad again.
I'll follow it in the futur, if I choose to race again here.

iTCC Protest

Your Name: Eric BITAN

Your LFS Username: Ricou

Protest Against: (LFS Username) rc10racer

Type of Protest : Pushed me out under SC.

Description -
In lap 12, at T2, we all braked because the safety car went out, and Pickard (rc10racer) braked too late, pushing me out on the grass from 7th position to 13th position. It seems he got a drive through penalty for that thought.

Which Event / Session: Race 3

May I answer that I spoke 3 times in the 3 next laps, which I wouldnt describe as "continually for the rest of the race" ?

Pickard was penalised in the race for this misdemanour.

Chatting is an issue that will be dealt with in the penalties thread (coming soon)

Quote from Mp3 Astra :What I say in the commentary sounds harsh, especially towards Bitan. I now understand that he had been taken out for no reason, and had the right to be angry. He should have stayed behind and complained after the race, but I bear no hard feelings, despite what you might hear in the broadcast.

Then good for me I wasnt listening to the comments
But I'll have a look at this stream when I have time... just to hear what you said

By the way, if I did that - overtaking under SC - it was because I was taken out (probably by Pickard as everyone says but I didnt see) and I didn't know about the "no overtaking under SC even if you get crashed" rule. My bad.

But to say what I think, this rule seems very unfair (and dumb) to me.
Unless there was some other way to be fair without giving me back my position ?

Other than that, Race 1 was a very good one for me, I enjoyed it.
Race 2 => Too bad there were 2 disconnections.
Race 3 => Started 6th, ended up last due to the penalty.

Quote from lerts :[...] and you are not gonna take the whole brake zone with the clutch depressed [...]

To my mind, not using engine braking would more be like not downshifting during the whole braking, and then downshift quickly just before you're gonna accelerate again.

But I'm not doing that... and when I do, it's usually because I screwed up my braking

Quote from obsolum :From what I remember from that thread scipy mentioned, engine braking doesn't really help slow the car down if you're already using the brakes to their full extent (ie. the tyres are at their grip limit). So it's pointless. That's it in a nutshell.

Yep, very logical indeed.

Anyway, I'm still using engine braking cause I "just happen" to be driving setups with brakes sets for engine braking

Quote from scipy :Will all of you just stop spreading miss-conceptions about engine braking? Please. It should be avoided at all cost, especially in racing. I will not start an argument again, there was a thread about this before, tristan & me gave several good explanations - obviously you could just ignore it, but at least keep your bad driving habits to yourself.

Could you please post a link to that topic ?

But to me it's just wishing for something that's totally unlikely to happen... is there a point about that ?

Seems very very very complicated to code to my mind...

The devs aren't car engineers, and I don't think calling Subaru for help on how to copy their active differential is an option.

So it's a -1 to me.

Hi Bunder,

It's nice to see that you really want to get better.

I didnt watch your replay, but from my own experience i'd say starting on a single-seater car may be a little bit too hard, since everything happens very fast on it, and especially spinning .

If you want to be fast with it, my advice would be to try to get more experience on road cars (XRG, XRT I'd say) until you understand how a rear wheel drive car reacts when trying to be fast. And then apply it to FBM.

Another thing: I think mastering how to countersteer is really important, otherwise you will spin out every time you get too optimistic with the throttle

Good luck, and remember that it takes much time to get really fast. Be patient and drive often !
