A lawyer driving home late one night doesnt come to a complete stop at an intersection, and as luck would have it a police officer nearby spots him and pulls him over.
The lawyer pleads with the officer 'I slowed down at the intersection'. The officer says 'Yes sir you did, but according to the law, you are required to come to a full stop'.
The lawyer then exclaims how there wasnt any traffic out on these backroads, in the middle of the night, to which the officer replies 'Yes sir, but according to the law, it doesnt matter if any cars are visible when you come to a full stop at an intersection'
The lawyer is now getting quite aggitated, and starts in ont he officer baout how hes a lawyer, and he knows full well the law. He argues theres no difference between coming to a full stop or slowing down when noone else is around. He tells the officer that its impossible to prove the difference between the two, and challenges the officer to prove otherwise.
The officer agrees, and asks the gentleman to step out of the vehicle. As the lawyer gets out of the car, the officer unfastens his nightclub and begins beating on the man repeatedly. The lawyer, completely confused and struck with pain shouts 'what the hell are you doing?!'
The officer then asks 'Well sir, would you like me to stop? or should I just slow down?'

You know what the difference is between the ringling bros circus and the Rockettes?
I cant remember if it was in 93 or 94, but a team member of Dick Simon Racing placed small penis shaped icon decals in each of their drivers cars. Placed strategically where the driver could adjust the suspension in-car. Penis pointing meant 'stiffer'. Penis pointing downward meant 'softer'.
Damn. You may be right. I saw it mentioned on some 'natural disasters' type show on discovery a few weeks back. But a google search looks like theres one in 2036 instead. my bad, I shouldnt have paid any attention to the tv.
Actually, in 2012 on April the 13th (friday) a meteor is to pass by the earth so close it will dip under the orbit of some of our satellites. Scientists are fairly confident that it will miss us.
What they're not so confident about, is if the orbit of said meteor will change as it passes by, because 7 years later it will return near by us again, on another friday the 13th.
no thanks.
Last I saw you couldnt skin in it and everything looked video gamish. Last I heard you wind up spending alot of money 'buying' new features.
Im sure development is going to go threough the roof now with the economy the way it is. I'll stick with LFS
Ahh... Im guessing they use that iluminescent vinyl. I noticed corvette was using it for their Number plates for a while and I was wondering when someone would try using it for more graphics. The idea is nice, execution is 'not so good'.
I'm too old now... But I dont mind listening to Helmet, MOD, COC, Ministry, WHite Zombie, etc... probably not 'dark enough' compared to some of the speedmetal/deathmetal out there today
This may be a dumb question... but on the 'paint on screw trick'. Wouldnt the manufacturer have to remove the screw to see if paint is missing from it? and of course, if they remove the screw... then wouldnt it have removed the paint in the process?
Search for tech support forums on bell routers to determine how it handles port forwarding through another router.
My thought would be as mentioned above, have all communication pass through to the 2nd router. But I dont know what security issues (hacks on your modem) might arise from doing that. You might also be able to port forward from the bell modem to your server (perhaps bypassing the 2nd router?), but Im not sure. Ive not played around enough with router through router networking (I couldnt even tell you what thats called)
He prolly thought you were thinking you had a 100mps connection speed. but your network is at 100mps (LAN).
Im not familiar with your modem. It shouldve come with a manual, and if it has a router and/or firewall built in, it owuld be similar to your linksys.
My guess is you do not have a firewall or router in the modem... (or else youd have spent some time getting both the modem and linksys to work together to get you internet in the first place)
Check your logs in your firewall to see if its blocking communication from your friends ip address. Otherwise, one thing you can try, is to disconnect your router. make note which cables plug into where. Then plug only your server network cable into the modem. reset/reboot and all that. This puts just your server on the internet during this test, and the firewall is no longer involved in the process. Then have a friend try to connect to your server. Make sure all firewalls, AV, etc is off.
Once you establish whether your friend connects or not, disconnect and reconnect your network cables as before. You dont want to leave your server plugged into the internet unprotected for too long.
Now if the server connection worked during this test, then its something in your firewall not allowing traffic through.
If it didnt work, then its your ISP or something still blocking within your pc (AV, Firewall, etc)
Some routers or cable/dsl/etc modems may have built in firewalls.
You would need to access such a firewall (see the router/firewall manual) to enable port forwarding, and open ports. Port forwarding directs incoming traffic to one (of multiple computers) on your lan so that when someone tries to reach your server on a port used by LFS, the router directs that incoming traffic to your server (assuming youve properly setup what traffic is allowed, and where it is to be directed)
You could contact your isp to find out if they are blocking ports, or check their website for info, or google search to see if others using your isp have run into problems with online gaming/ports being blocked.
My ISP for example blocks all outgoing port 25 (email) unless its through their own mail server in an attempt to monitor and block anyone using their service to send spam
Whether they open ports for you is another story...
If a scan doesnt reach your server then;
1) Firewall (external, or internal windows firewall) may be blocking the ports.
2) You didnt setup port forwarding correctly
c) your ISP is blocking the ports
Well thought Id say this is awesome.
Me and a few friend have formed an 'informal' team of sorts and enjoy racing one our small server. THis software lets us track each others PB's, points, etc and is fairly detailed while being easy to setup/use.
After a small hiccup (which the dev found/fixed really quick) we got it up and running nicely!
