STarted tinkering with the FO8 chassis. I havent checked all the posts in this thread, but Im sure theres a bazillion of these already... Either way, I wanted to create a simple design for my first attempt on this body.

Yeah, tracy was probably gonna be my next choice... send em on!

Im debating if I want to try to tackle Gil Deferran's Valvoline ride (back with Walker in the late 90's) with all those v's splashed on the nose... I have the art, but making it fit might be a pita. The Tecate or Visteon cars were always good lookers as well.

In the meantime...
Heres Greg Moore's 1999 car (commemorating his final ride). the stripe transition is a little akward at the rear, because the reynard doesnt match up very well with the FOX, but close enough I suppose.
Im not sure I want to tackle Greg's helmet just yet, but someday...
Players Skins update

1) I screwed up the filename on the previous players design I did. This doesnt affect the design, but will conflict with the new #27 version (below). #12 was run in the 94 season. #27 was run in the 95 season (the year he won Indy 500 and the indycar chamiponship). Both were driven by Jacques Villeneuve.

2) Ive created the #27 design (in addition to the #12)

C) all can be found here. Next up, Greg Moore's #99.

Thanks all!
I suppose I went a little crazy trying to make it look more like the old Reynard (body mouldings, clips, ductwork).
Eventually I'll release all of the players versions from 95 to current.

Im still new to skinning, as Ive only got a few under my belt yet. but one thing is for sure, I couldnt have done it without the Master Skinners wireframe templates. Kudos to those guys for creating them!

FYI the matching helmet is over in the helmet skins thread

Rear wing endfence has received some artistic license.
Ive left the driver name (J. Villeneuve) blank so you can paint in your own name and flag.

Well thats good, because the more I thought about it I kept thinking 'screw everyone else cuz I think it'd look better without the nameplate' lol
So thats what I'll do...

I added some more body lines to the sidepods and rear vent and it's almost done... should be sometime over the weekend, but im finding that everytime I think its finished, I find something else I can add or tweak.

oh, and thanks for the compliments guys.

Well, im still tinkering, and revamped the stripes (added hardees and dr. pepper).
Made players larger on engine cover...
new dilemma, players badge on cocpit, runs into the lfs driver name area....
So... do I leave the buckeye, and badge and have players leave their driver name blank?
or do I nix the buckeye and move the players badge in its place to allow room for driver name?

Do alot of people run with their driver names on this chassis? Ive not driven this chassis online yet (My times still suck lol)

Well I've looked and it appears as if noone else is putting buckeyes on the cars... how do you all put fuel in them during your pitstops? :jester:

I made mine more 'straight on' rathers than 'sunken' so it looks a bit better. Ductwork seems to work ok so far also. But Im still tinkering.

I could probably come up with the #27 verison, as well as a greg moore version later as well. I will probably not put the hardees and Dr. pepper on the tops of the sidepods for this one though (Not much room on the sidepod without curving the stripe), and I have little room left for the Indycar seris logo or tech stickers.

Ive no idea if anyone else ha sdone jacques' cars for lfs before. I meant adapting the original real car design to the simulator FOX chassis. Ive always had a big fondness for these cars, its when i first got into racing, and truth be told I really loved the baby blue paintscheme of this car so I followed Jacques when I spotted him in Atlantics for the first time. Turned out to be a pretty good choice of driver to follow at the time!
As was his father, whom you obviously have a great appreciation for!

Yeah. Im struggling with it. Looks too much like a sticker slapped on.
At certain angles, it looks ok to me, (when the light and shadows match) but on others, it looks fake and flat.

Guess I'll search around and see what others are doing for their buckeyes.

I found I forgot to add the cosworth to the fuel side as well, so I fixed that.

Cool small world.
Id ask if you knew my dad who was stationed there, but you probably didnt. He did something with helicopters (not flying, just maintenance like something with fire extinguishers/supression or something)

Tailspin, check the links again as I updated the skins. I wasnt sure if you wanted it public or not, so Ive not posted the final skin here. But I did tweak the fox body a bit (suspension shadows/holes, added body moulding to the top of the sidepods and some minor shadowing). I also went the upper engine cover like tweaks (more yellow/less blue). But I promise it's done now (ya right lol)

Tweak, your much closer than where I am (indianapolis). Although, I was born in the Pensacola naval base back in 69 just before hurrican Camille (sp?). So I guess im a 'Navy Brat', though he finished shortly afterwards (did a small stint in Norfolk) and somehow I wound up in the midwest.

Mines all vector, so its as easy as pie to remove/add/shrink logos. Im a designer by day, so Im used to doing revisions.

I like tweakers engine cover (yellow extends higher up toward roll hoop). and if you want the decals laid out like tweakers I can do that.

I'll put a sig on the actual skin image when its done, but I wont muddy up the design with some sig on it. How about you though, want a cursive 'Tailspin' up by the cockpit? or maybe inside the cockpit replacing US NAVY?
Basically, dont feel like you have to use this version because I invested time in the design. It didnt take that much time to do, and I'd rather have it 100% done to your liking rather than 'almost there'

So let me know specifically what changes you want, logos resized/removed/relocated...

Of course, you realize once it's done, your going to have to put this thing airborn once or twice just for fun!

Oh. I think I realize now that 2048 x 2048 should be used.
But I was originally doing 1024 x 1024 because of the LFS uploading limits.

I've re-exported at 2048 x 2048 rez (all my stuff is vector) and Ive updated the files. Theyre now 1.8-1.9 mb each

feel free to change anything if you guys want. Just do me a small favor and at least leave the rpm logo (rear or sides) on it somewheres.

Logos were no big deal, I had them already.
Heres a revision based on your comments.
The blue has a hint of metallic, and Ive added some shadows to the suspension in addition to removing all of the associate sponsors.
I was unsure about Toyota though, since you requested it.

doh! Looks like im too late (or took too long)

Im still a newbie at this skinning stuff, so I guess I'll consider it practice.
My first FOX, so if somethings out of place, forgive me...

Howdy. noob here. used to play indycar and nascar racing (papy titles) years ago, and just starting to get back into racing again. Ive been using the demo servers, trying to get up to speed because im not really sure where the beginner servers are on the s2 side. Im still learning the cars and tracks, but eventually I'll feel confident enough to migrate over

Getting back into simming (since way back when Indycar2 was big)
Heres a couple skins I made recently.
The carbon fiber pattern is kind of big, but it looks good from a distance in the game. I had fun making the rally car all dirty.
