His engine blew in Monza, therefore he got a new one for China and had the same one in Suzuka.
So yes, new engine for him. (Although it's not actually "new", I read it's an old spec).
edit: Also: Remember that Renault is only 9 points ahead of Ferrari, and they really wanna win that WCC. So if Alonso only scores one point, and MS wins Ferrari and Renault have the same points in the constructors championship.
I can't see Renault saying: "Oh, Fisichella will finish ahead of Massa easily, do what you want Fernando, we don't need your points!".
So actually he has to aim for a bit more points for the WCC?
The funny thing is, there aren't "so much WRs under mouse/kb controllers".
And that is because it is NOT easier (at least in terms of car control).
Just show me all those WRs from mousers, I can't find 'em.
edit: Also, show me anyone who used to play with a mouse, than bought a wheel, and got slower because of that.
edit2: btw, why doesn't F1 use keyboard and mouse? It would look so cool. And it would be easier for them!
Out of curiosity: I guess you want to compare the result with statistics you already have. If so, they're probably about a very different group of people (as you don't know anything about the users here), like whole GB and the forum users are not really representative for them?
It wouldn't really make sense then, so.. what's your plan?
I thought it was obvious enough, but apparently it isn't.
gummy bears = turns (and by that I mean all turns, not only on KY )
red gummy bear = T3
Jaffa Cakes = straights/kinks.
Let's assume I have lots of gummy bears. Now you say "Huh.. the _red_ ones are hard to eat!" While that would maybe be true because they're harder to eat than Jaffa Cakes, the statement would only make sense if the majority of other-coloured gummy bears were easier to eat.
I wouldn't say it's not most immersive or most realistic, but on a single 19'' screen it's a pain to have a third of my precious screen space used by the cockpit, especially on the outsides (the top/bottom is not that important).
I'm using cockpit in open-wheelers and a custom bonnet-cam in tin-tops.
I may lose the immersion of the cockpit itself, but I gain a lot of periphal vision (which I would have in a real cockpit, or maybe with a three-screen setup). And as I see the bonnet I also know where the wheels are and where my car ends.
Uhm, you are throwing two incidents together there?
#1 Alonso got new front tyres when he stopped the first time. His was awfully slow with them. Press conference suggests that was a poor decision by driver/team. Whether that was because the old ones were too worn or not, I don't know. Either way you can lay some blame on him for that.
#2 Alonso got slicks and that's where the thing with the wheel nut happened.
How is he to blame for that? Did anyone finish the race on intermediates? I doubt it.
I don't think he really needed new fronts (they didn't look THAT worn and before that his pace was rather fast, at least better than Fisichella's..), he probably just thought new ones were better when they really weren't.
The rear wheel incident however is very amateurish for a team in a world championship fight..
(And they don't know how to catch the big bottle either)
Just had one of those ("I'm fast, go out of my way!") on the usual GTR @ Aston National.
He was doing 1:41 and was behind me. He then overtook me by cutting the chicane and taking the guy in front of me out.
In the next lap he crashed with someone else before the hairpin (I had difficulties to avoid both) and blamed the other guy - but seeing what he did before I'm pretty sure it was his fault..
People will go for the lower price in most cases (unless the company has a bad reputation).
I had a clan mate that went into lending Half-Life servers. He eventually gave up because it was not profitable. That was with 2 servers/(single cpu)machine. (And I assume HL servers take more resources than LFS ones). The prices of the big companies were just so low, because they either put more servers on a machine, paid less for the servers or - most likely - a combination of both.
Having said that, I think that your only chance is to offer extra services that the big companies don't have. (Like stats for all races on the server or something like that).
I think the best-performance thing is not really important for the customers, as the LFS server is not that much of a resource eater that other companies would have a much worse performance to turn costumers to you.. (I've never been on a LFS server and thought "Uh.. this server sucks.")
The difference between the mentioned FPSs and LFS is that I don't see even what kind of cheat you could have to have an advantage in LFS. Surely neither transparent walls nor an aimbot will help you at all.
So it seems to be limited to litte exploits like the one Becky mentioned..
What destroys online games are cheats where you do not know, whether your opponent uses them - not the ones that are really obvious.
So if it was possible to add let's say 40 extra bhp to your car - yeah that would be evil - but then it was already mentioned that the calculations are all performed on the server.
