i've just been diagnosed as having the blody thing. luckily doesnt seem to be to bad and am escaoping the tamiflu treatment but have been given a shoping list of treatments to get, apparently you treat each sympton seperately so its pain killers, cough mixture, nasal spray etc etc.

good news is once the symptons are gone, your clear go back to work without worrying about infecting anyone

Quote from Blas89 :I have a question for the non-believers out there...

What do you fear? Why can't it be true?

possibly the realisation that our fathers and grandfathers were a damm site better at getting things done and taking risks.

as one of the apollo astonauts said this week (paraphrased) " what the hell hapened to us to become such a risk averting society ? they almost didn't do the last hubble service mission because there was no way of getting form that orbit to the ISS if there was a problem, did you see the apollo astronauts and enginears or the russians worrying because there was no rescue service ? now everyone on the ground is scared of failure even though the astonauts accept the risks"

Quote from lizardfolk :Peak? That's hilarious she is currently only 5th in the points...and in all her previous seasons she score lower than that in the champ. She has also yet to win a race since japan oh so long ago. Patrick is THE most overrated driver in America

just because she isn't a top driver doesn't mean her carear will not have a peak, i hit my peak in tennis when i was 12 and hit the ball twice in a row. not brilliant but since every other effort before and since has been worse it is by definition my peak.. by your own admission she is currently higher in the standings than in the "champ" in other years, therefore unless she improves further she is also at her peak

aslso if you don't agree with the statement i suggest you take it up with the team principal of USF1 or whatever bernie's making them call themselves this month, since they made it and presumably know a lot more about american racing drivers than me

the problem may actually be the fac that the team themselves said on radio 5 when talking about danica that it would be unfair for them to ask her to go into F1 when she's at her peak as by the time they are competative she would miss out on her best years. now if your any sort of recognised driver your not going to be attracted by a team thats saying you will be at the back for the next 3 or 4 years

Quote from UncleBenny :Eh, I'm at 2.83 already so I don't have far to go. The Solstice is just less risky for me, less of a chance of incidents if I just hang back at the start. I wouldn't mind Radical TT's but I'm going for the C license right now so I can't race them yet. Me and the Mazda just don't seem to get along.

im in an almost identical situation with my oval licence, going for B licence sr 2.83, but i dont get along with ovals when they are crowded so im going to have to do 3 clean 30 min TT s this week. normally 30 mins on an oval gives me .07 sr so 3 should do it

not a lover of the current oval cars but want to work my licence up incase i need it for a single seater oval series as i love the mazda on ovals

just watching the apollo 11 40th aniversary news conference and one of the astronauts just said something thats appropriate. basically that somehow we have become a risk averse society and we are always looking to remove all risk or not do something if it can not be risk free. yes it's a shame when things like this happens and yes wheel tethers may / should have helped but lets be honest as it says on the back of every entry ticket "motor racing is dangerous", drivers know and accept the risks. tristan knows he could be injurred or worse everytime he races yet he chooses to race. jaques villeneuve knew how his father died yet still took pleasure in "pushing the envelope" when ever he drove in F1, especially at spa each year.

henry died doing something he loved, to my mind thats far better than being dead because he got into an argument with some idiot who needs a knife to reinforce his ego, far better than to die a lingering death from an untreatable terminal illness.

RIP henry surtees

well as a supporter of wrexham, which is quite possibly the only club that has ever put its self in administration despite being able to meet its debts purely to stop its owner trashing it and selling off its ground, you don't know how lucky you all are.

if he hadnt thrown a wobbler and resigned as chief exec at a board meeting which gave the other directors two weeks to put the club in admin before he could vote himself back in, we would now be playing on our training ground and the worlds oldest international football stadium still in use would now be a housing estate

its funny i used to hate the radical but in the last two weeks i've come to like it and even have a slight crush on it

i've become comfortable with it and am even using SPs setups now with out any modifications to calm the rear, when you get it right you can balance the front and rear nicely

the testing ban means it's going to get harder for north american drivers to do well in F1 if they come straight in from thier own racing series. apart from getting used to the technology they also have to get to know the tracks and depsite simulators etc., any driver thats done even one year in GP2 will have a far more detailed knowlage of the F1 circuits that they have raced upon, the strange bits of surface were the grip isn't what you expect or where there is the most grip in the wet, compared to a driver experiencing them for real for the first time.

Quote from samjh :Loeb doesn't have enough experience to get a Super License, let alone race in an F1 Grand Prix.

Being a rally legend and a competitive Le Mans racer does not qualify one to race F1. Yuji Ide had a very good curriculum vitae too, and look how he fared.

being an ex world champion always seems to open up strange licences and seedings, i remember derek bell being seeded at No 14 for the 1987 RAC rally in an astra purely on the strength of his world sportscar record despite it being almost his first rally ( it's usually called his first but i know he did at least the cambrian rally before to gain experience) and ahead of such drivers as russel brooks, carlos sainz, jimmy mcrae, mark lovell and malcom wilson

Quote from Intrepid :Don't they still receive some fundeing from honda?

seem to recall that autosport said that the total revenue from honda, tv money, prize money etc but without sponsorship was circa £40 million like the proposed budget cap but that figure had to cover everything including drivers wages though i suspect that merc are giving them a very good deal on engines / drivetrains so it's probably about the same total cost.

what i find interesting is not so much if they need money or not but the fact that no one seems to have approached them for the rest of this season, you'd think that even for the remaining races it would be worthwhile to pay over the odds as it's pretty much guarenteed publicity, so i assume it's brawns choice.

virgin seem to have played it very clever, come in with a low cost but generated this image (with casual follower) of helping to save them, i noticed that they expect not to be able to afford to sponsor brawn next season.

Quote from 5haz :Brawn built a car that could beat the best in far away, exotic climates, but it gets well and truly shafted by 'British' weather.

thanks to bernie the majority of races ae now in exotic climates so can't fault them for that.

what will be interesting is that the brawn was designed with Honda's money, now they have to develope it using their current finacial resources and given that they have laid off aprox 300 workers and still have no major sponsorship, will they be able to keep up in the development race ?

also why is it they are still running with so little sponsorship? virgin have got a cut price deal yet there appears to have been no real success in finding other sponsors for what will probably be a title winning car. are brawn enjoying this "run on a shoestring" image and afraid to loose it ( did a quick pole in work and most casual fans seem to be under impression the car was designed with no money rather than Honda's ) or is there something that puts sponsors off ?

i just want webber to win once though no doubt chris amon will be praying he carries on with his usual routine of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, another few years of this and amon may finally loose "the unluckiest driver never to win an F1 race " tag

Quote from Blackout :but how awesome is that from Ferrari to let him drive these rallies!

can you imagine the fuss if he crashes and breaks a leg ? or maybe that's what ferrari is hoping for ?

(don't really mean that and hope nothing happens to him, but it makes you wonder what would happen )

[QUOTE=Racer X NZ;1190276]As the Antipodean Airline that had the crash ( Air NZ ) was flying in an Airbus maintained and flown, ( the pilots were German Airbus employees ) aircraft I'm interested in knowing just why it's now our fault the bastard crashed.

Please explain just how, as we never touched this plane, it's apparently our lack of maintainence that caused it to crash ?

relax, the point i was making that stats like that prove nothing, if i compiled a list of space shuttle fatalities i could state that if your shuttle's name begins with a C it will eventually suffer a catastrophic failure

Quote from dawguk :

In other slightly related news, I loved Ecclestone's interview this morning with the BBC:

"I haven't seen a press release from FOTA"
"I know nothing"
"There is no issue"
"I don't understand why there are issues"
"Speak to the FIA and Max Mosley, I know nothing"

Amusing, but also alarming. Is this guy really doing business like this? For real? What is he playing at? How is he even allowed to walk around in the F1 paddock without a load of pre-managed answers in his head? I think he's starting to show his senility, big time.

i think bernie's being very clever, basically he's saying "it's nothing to do with me, ask max he started it "

well the first five incidents could suggest there's a problem with antipodean airline companies maintenance / operating standards

hard to say at the moment, airbus and boing are pretty much equal on aircraft deliveries these days so without seeing a list of boing incidents in the same time frame and comparing them to aircraft in service numbers, it's impossible to tell if this is above the norm.

it is worrying though that it was suggested so early that a pitot problem may be the cause as this suggests prior knowlage of a potential failure
