just tried to find my first post in this thread but either i missed it or i imagined it, either way i'm sure i was very sceptical about iracing's business plan and ideas, little did i know i'd be a 100% er inside 18 months despite never getting time to race

actually thats another point, in the first posts about iracing by me that i could find, i was far more keen to just jump in and race, i've changed but is it iracing that's changed me or my ongoing post viral fatigue syndrome? i jumped onto LFS recently and did 2 races in a Formula BMW without any practice, was it because i wasn't worried about licence damage or just that the races were only 5 laps. either way i did notice that my driving seemed far easier than it ever did before i went to iracing, is that because i've improved, or iracing's physics are more demanding than LFS ?

another great race, glad i booked time off work for it, one advantage of working nights is the time zone doesn't matter

Quote from Senninha25 :that crash pretty much shows (again) that Hamilton is a human driver who can make mistakes and a young guy who is going still a bit too fast...The guy's only had 2 failures in his 4 seasons and apart from that almost all races he ruined was because he was too eager to finish first or get ahead...after (nearly) 4 full seasons one expects a young driver to settle down a bit, but he looks like he's starting to lose it and throwing it all away right in the end of the season...again.

button also went off there and schumacher so i guess those two will calm down when they get a bit older aswell

if john henry succeeds in taking over liverpool Fc, i wonder if we'll get the superleague formula? if we had all the clubs official colour schemes it may boost european numbers further

surprisingly impressed so far, feels very close to what has always been my ideal mix of mw2 and bc2, bit more space than mw2 but not as huge as bc2 / bf2. sure fully destructable scenery would be nice but i can understand why they have left it out, in maps this size there would be nothing standing after 2 mins

what would be funny (and highly unlikely) is if in 2011 tony fernandez's team win the drivers and constructors championship. can you imagine how stupid proton would then look saying that they were going to court to stop themselves being associated with the world champions?

must admit i don't understand why, chicanes apart, we've developed this thing of having kerbs on the inside of street tracks which force the cars to run in a narrower track, out side of the corner sort of makes sense as it allows a bit of room to run wide but the only reason i can think of for that kerb on the inside of where hamilton and webber hit is to hide the fact that a lot of the bends here are square 90 degree bends, let them run right up to the inside wall or outside walls if they want, makes the track wider and then if someone does go down the inside tight against the wall, chances are they'd have to run wide at the exit so allowing the outside car a chance to cut back inside

also bad connections become more apparent when there are more things that have to have their positions altered, eg cars at a start, once your up and running and the field is a bit spread you don;t notice the issues so much.

as was said though check with your ISP, my ping to iracing went through the roof a while back, it was that bad the australian servers were a better ping, and i almost changed ISP but thought to contact them first, turned out they were doing some ongoing maintenace / upgrades and as a result were having to route some american traffic via a roundabout route, two weeks later, a week earlier than predicted, it improved and was actually 10% better than it had ever been.

racing incident, if hamilton hadn't gone for it everyone would have said he's not as much of a fighter as he's supposed to be, if webber hadn't resisted it people would have said he rolled over too easy. if hamilton had made it stick, he'd have been praised for a great pass, if webber had maanged to hold his line and not hit him but forced him wide over the kerb, where he'd loose traction, it would have been great defensive driving.

as it is they tried, they hit and half the world thinks they're either idiots or past it

i think the transmission in the mustang is from a more powerfull version that can withstand race usage better, so the gearing is "slightly" too high.

Quote from spanks :Have you tried the fixed setup series for the c6r? The setups have been great from the few laps I have done. I could not get the car around the track when it first came out. They've done quite a few tweaks to it and it feels much better now. Its still a beast, but its much more reasonable.

+1 if they could just find a way to allow the +/- 3% brake adjust in the cockpits of the fixed cars i think they'd be very popular as complaints about brake bias seem to be the only thing holding them back.

and if you want to build a setup, the fixed set is a good place to start at for most circuits.

aparently the z06 has really light steering and brakes in real life so maybe it's actually more accurate than people think, same as with the lotus with all the complaints about the steering being too responsive and too light and then david brabham drives one in autosport (possibly the one scanned? ) and comments on how he drove it using just his wrists.

personally i feel that a lot of the cars won't feel right till we get the new tyre model, in the same way that scanwen won't release the scirocco till the new tyre models available in LFS because th e real world suspension shows up the current model's inadequacies.

Quote from DarkTimes :Klein beat Senna. I guess he's the first non-rookie who's ever driven that car. A wakeup call for Hispania I hope.

never understood the logic of a brand new team not having one experienced driver to measure things against, upto now for all they knew they could have had the fastest car in F1 but very poor drivers

Quote from senn : The way it's setup now, i can't see anyone except the richest who can afford the best controller/simcockpit + cars doing anygood at it.

some said gregor huttu uses an logitech dfp when he's home so hardly the most expensive and i'm able to keep myself at 100% content just using the credits i get for renewal, pre ordering etc and the subs costs are no worse than what i pay for my son's world of warcraft or to put it another way less for a year than what some i work for spend on a saturday night out in a club.

anyway not sure what this has to do with the development of LFS, patch /S3 / new content will be out when scanwen feels it's ready, the devs could easily have just decided to work on LFS 2 and abandonded this and we'd still have a great game / sim for just £24.

Quote from boothy :

And Joe, if you want to pay £145.50 to the BBC that's up to you, maybe the BBC should go to a subscription service like Sky - that'd really show how many people like it eh?

i suspect the BBC would have more subscribers for it's 4 channels plus it's radio channels than ESPN have for their sports channels at £144 per annum or £122 per annum if you are a sky sports subscriber or for premier sports at £72 per annum for one channel that shows irish sports, australian rugby and conference football.

funny thing is everyone loves the fact that the BBC's sport coverage, especially F1 , has no commercial breaks yet they complain about the fact that it doesn't need commercial breaks like the other channels

sure in an ideal world we wouldn't have the licence fee (and yes i agree the BBc waste a lot of money) but at least the BBC don't leave the grand prix every 15 mins for adverts or miss a goal in the world cup to show adverts.
