there's not many sprts were a title is decided over a season that uses a medals system.

football, rugby , american football, australian rules, cricket, ice hockey, basketball, the list goes on and on, they all have league tables decided by points at the end of the season, not just by how many games you won. hell even the tenis world rankings are decided by the results in all of the tournaments rather than just who won the most.

under bernies system, a driver who won the first 11 races would win the title next year with almost half a season to go, under the current system, a driver could finish second to him in those races and only be 3 wins behind. bernies system could give the title to soemone who wins 2 races and fails to finish any others yet another driver could have 1 win and 19 seconds.

and if he decideds to take into account silver and bronze medals how will he work out how many silvers equal one gold? the moment he does that he's effectively re introduced a point system

Quote from J@tko :I heard that they can't race if it pouring with rain because of the glare of the floodlights. Great plan, Bernie.

aparently the reflectors are designed so the lights should not glare in the drivers eyes whent hey are running in the right direction so it shouldn't be a problem unless someone gets awfully confused after a spin and tries to doa reverse circuit.

actually it would be interesting to see if the street drainage is better than some F1 circuits in heavy rain.

exactly, if we take michalxo's argument to it's logical conclussion then we'd all still be using the first driving game i ever played

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK_pwMItCPM

added to which LFS is currently very easy on a computer, on my pc 400 + fps compared to 95 fps on iracing, so if it is improved michalxo should be able to retain a decent frame rate just by keeping the appearence similar to what it is now

It's either that or you have miximatosis.

thanks becky, just spat my coffee over the keyboard

Quote from RiseAgainstMe! :Crazier things have happened

There was a girl who got pregnant by being stabbed with a knife that I remember reading about...

i recall hearing about a south african (white) girl who was a bonofide virgin when she gave birth, she'd had a mal formed vagina that made sex impossible but had just given some bloke oral and swallowed when her boyfriend discovered them and stabbed her in the abdomen, in one of those freak occurences that you'd say was unbelievable in a film etc, the wound to her stomach allowed the swallowed semen to escape and enter through a wound into her uterus and then nature took it's course.

re the original post, you have to remember you didn't just kiss these girls, you also effectively kissed anyone they'd kissed that night before you and anyone those epople had kissed before the girls so as becky said miximatosis for sure

debatable if you can include top gear's test track, if you do that then MIRA etc need to be included as well

this is always a good place to start for MOT queries

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/contents.htm

oh and not MOT related but on a lot of modern cars the manufacturers regard any bonded glass as a structural member when they're doing their design so any substantial crack could in theory put extra load on other areas, unlikely to cause any problems but before i sold the garage we did have a customer who's rear bonded windscreen had been broken (by a thrown brick ) and he drove it like that for a few days till he hit a sharp bump and his front windscreen went as well.

forgot to say, murry walker made mistakes and was over enthusiastic but the difference was he had the background in motorsport, the experience of doing the job since post war racing started at circuits, on radio etc and came over as someone who really did thing that his was the best job in the world rather than someone apparently doing a job they weren't trained for (legard) or someone who appeared to think that they had to be manically enthusiastic as the sport was totally uninteresting (allen).

infact i'd go as far as to say the difference between a very good motorsports commentator and a very poor one is simply the good one's have a genuine love of the sport that they mange to project in their commentary. neville hay and the current radio le mans team are good examples of how a love for the sport shines through and makes a commentary interesting by simply sounding like fellow enthusiasts talking with you.

legard is ok (ish) when he has time to think but at times it feels like he's not even looking at his monitors and is way behind the action, he's definately the weak link in all the BBC's coverage, cox would be far better and if nothing else he's another ex racer so has more insight.

more worrying legard doesn't seem to be improving, i'd hoped he'd have spent the off season listening to recordings and realaising how many mistakes he makes and how much total rubbish he fills the airwaves with. someone (possibly on here) said last year he commentates like he's on radio where there's no other information for the listeners and silence is gernerally a bad thing and forgets we can actually see the cars ourselves. ironically radio 5's team seem to have perfected the art of saying as much as possible in as few words as possible so despite being on radio and probably talking as much as legard if not more, it doesn't feel like they do.

the commentary on the practice sessions show how good things can be when you have a commentary team where everyone knows the sport properly, they do something similar to legard where they don't feel the need to actually talk about every corner as a car goes round it (unlike james allen for who anything moving anywhere was the most exciting thing that he'd ever seen and absolutely relevant to lewis hamilton somehow) but whilst they can talk about strategy, drivers etc with some knowlage, legard acts the dumb kid who wants to know everything from brundel.

if he's not replaced then the answer might be to introduce a third commentator to share the expert load with brundel and allow legard a chance to sit back and think, maybe they could persuade davidson and Chandhok to fit it in between them depending on racing commitments.

it's a pity really as jake humphrey has, in the words of steve ryder, made the anchor man's job look easy after steve ryder spent years trying to make it look hard and jim rosenthal made it look bloody impossible, coulthard and jordan have settled down to an unlikely doubly act, lee mckenzie is getting the job done with interviews and ted kravitz is still showing the form he developed at ITV. the only other improvement i'd like is for holly samos to share the pitlane with ted kravitz, she's very competent and would allow better coverage of all the pitlane when there's a story at both ends but that would mean taking her away from radio 5.

you can always spot the good commentators / pundits / presenters in F1, they're the ones that the insiders take to and treat as though they belong there.

buttons extra downforce will make it easier to stay close enough to get in the slip stream if alonso is just in front, if he's close then, according to what they said in practice, he'll be able to brake significantly later than anyone else. also they were wondering if his extra speed through the bends and any additional turbulence from being higher downforce may actually make it quite hard for anyone to get a run on him down the straights.

i'm not convinced my self and suspect that the low downforce setups will be better for the race as just one corner not on the absolute limit could drop button enough to ensure he doesn't stay in a tow down a straight and he may hten not be able to catch up.

hopefully with the times being so close it'll come down to drivers rather than a noah's ark 2 by 2 pattern.

maybe the stewards / other teams just thought massa had suffered enough under ferrari so decided to turn a blind eye and give him back some of the distance he lost to alonso in germany, or maybe they just thought it would be funny when alonso found out.

no doubt next race alonso will be demanding that he's allowed to start 1 1/2 meters in front of the pole position car and massa has to start facing backwards and has to push start his car.

looks like it and as i posted previously i'm seriously impressed though it was interesting that he only managed that speed on one lap, on every other lap he was 8 kmh slower so it may have been tow assisted
