I'm rather fond of the the AS Historic track in general with the BF1/F08, particularly the part that starts after one of the straights and makes a 180degree turn into a quick left/right/right/left/slight left/right/sweeping left, then to towards the end of the course. That steep chicane after T1 is nice too, kinda reminds me of a slower version of Spa's Eau Rogue
See, that's exactly the way i look at it. I just want to have a fun race. I win sometimes, and i come in dead last sometimes. Winning by 30secs isn't really that enjoyable. I'd rather have a close race to the end fighting for 10th place, than win by a mile. It's just a videogame afterall, i don't see how anyone takes it so seriously that they are desperate to win win win. I guess their e-penis feels bigger or something
I agree completely, but on the other hand i dont think there should be REQUIRED pit stops in any race. If you force a pit stop in a 10lap race, that's not really "strategy", since everyone will just pit once, and things even out. Pitting should be used to gain what you think is a strategical advantage, not just pitting cuz the server admin says so.
Pitting on the last lap is pretty lame/sad. I mean, this is just a video game. I enjoy fun/close racing, winning is nice, but i'd rather lose and have a fun race, than win in the pitlane
I absolutely love the BF1. Probably 70% of my racing is BF1, with some FOX, FZR, and GTI (demo servers) on the side Before the patch, i drove the F08 whenever i could, sometimes even if there werent any races going, i'd join an empty server. I'm just a huge fan of open-wheelers. MRT is still a blast when you can find a race
My only complaint is that its hard to find races sometimes (non-oval). Not only that, but everyone seems to want to race on blackwood with it. Blackwood is simply too small of a track for the BF1 imo. The AS/KY/WE tracks are much better. SO long is nice too, if you can make it around more than a few laps without hitting the barrier. SO Long is just so intense. It's the monaco of LFS
Well, if it's one of those ridiculous 5-10lap races that REQUIRES a pit, i usually pit at the end of the first lap. If it's a longer race i pit halfway through.
^Same here, i tend to leave too much room for people to pass. I'd rather have a fun race than end up crashing into each other. I've had some surprisingly good races with the bf1 already. Some races i've swapped positions with someone close to 10 times in a relatively short race. Very fun stuff
Hey, wanted to get your opinions on something else. Yesterday after beating this guy a few times on blackwod with BF1, i was in 2nd right behind him and had pulled up close enough to draft after the first chicane (long back straight). He proceeded to swerve back and forth down the entire straight so that i couldn't pick up a draft. Is it just me, or is this kinda sad and pathetic? I had passed him there in the couple races before so i guess that's how he dealt with it, but it just seems "cheap" to me. Do you guys agree that that's poor racing etiquette?
No offense to any of the new players out there, but it might be best to learn a car other than the BF1 as your first car. BF1 is NOT easy to drive quickly, and small mistakes can make you crash (moreso than other cars, because it's so bloody fast and it can be difficult to make corrections in a split-second). I think the FOX would be a good starting point if you like open-wheelers. It'll also teach you some throttle control, which helps a lot, TC wont do ALL the work, believe it or not.
^Great post. I totally agree with everything that you said.
As another example; One of my favorite motorsports is rallying, but it's actually really boring to watch on tv, because it's basically just a "highlights" program. When actually doing it or watching onboard cameras it's just freakin crazy though. It's jawdropping whipping through forrests, on the sides of mountains, etc. Yet tv somehow manages to make it boring (IMO).
I think this thread has clearly illustrated that the people who like F1 (Me ) will continue to like it, and the people that don't still aren't going to like it, although some of them may have a greater respect for F1 drivers (assuming they didn't already).
Also, racing in LFS and watching a race are quite different things. When YOU are racing, it tends to be a lot more fun than just watching it on tv, regardless of the car/class. Oval racing is pretty equally boring though
So let's all just agree to disagree okay? People aren't going to change their mind because of a forum argument, afterall you know what they say about arguing on the internet
It sounds good from in car, but it doesn't have that same sound it does in RL when the car drives past you standing still. It'd be nearly impossible to recreate that sound without samples though, so this is pretty good. Cars shouldn't be passing you like you're standing still anyway
Please don't state opinion as fact. Different strokes for different folks. There is no "best" motorsport. It's just personal preference. And here in the U.S. nascar actually gets the most attention by far. A lot of people here wouldn't even know what formula 1 is if you asked them, while everyone knows what nascar is.
I'm plenty happy with the BMW-Sauber, but i certainly wouldn't be against a BMW M3 in LFS It's really my dream-car to be honest. Such a great car, and it's relatively affordable. Sure it doesn't look all crazy supercar-ish, but that's part of what i like about it. It's kinda "disquised" from people who don't know much about cars, and more importantly, POLICE.
NSX is my other dream car, but that's a lot more expensive, and i dont think i'd even fit in it (i'm 6'4" or 6'5")
