Quote from the_angry_angel :Counterstrike WAS good. Then the kids got involved. End of a good game imho. Infact its the end of most games when you start hearing a whiney 12 year old voice / reading badly typed text.

This is true for 99% of the servers out there. Just find the right ones! www.dweebfire.com (216.240.155.171:27015), if there's actually ppl in it, It'll be the best server out there for what your looking for. Alot of us started playing World of Warcraft, though, so server population kinda dropped.

I guess I'll just stick with the momo. Too bad the only company that makes shifters and 3 pedal setups doesn't make them anymore. Too bad that I don't have the money to buy tweeker's shifter right now as well.
Question about Act-labs wheel

I'm curious. I'm interested in maybe buying an act-labs shifter and a 3 pedal assembly off of ebay in the near future. I've heard that the Act-labs wheel is pretty killer. I'm using a Logitech Momo Racing wheel right now. I like the way it feels, but it's noisy as hell and the movement isn't very fluent. I've heard that the Act-labs wheel's force feedback is fluent and like water, and is very smooth. I'm wondering if I should try to pick up a wheel while I'm at it. For those of you that have used one, what do you think? Would it be worth the money?

I really need to get an Actlabs shifter and pedals! That looks like too much fun!

As a kid:

Hard Drivin' and Race Drivin', the Arcade versions. They were so realistic for being made in I believe the 80's, maybe? But they taught me car control and also how to drive a stick when I was probably 8 years old!

Now:

Counter-strike. Face it. I can't see myself ever not playing it on a regular basis. And I've met lots of friends playing it!

At the price that this game cost. The fact that it was basically developed in someones basement. I think the sounds in this game are better than I would expect. The flat fours actually sound like flat fours. It's pretty impressive. But I also own GTR Racing, and I have to say, the engine noises, and OMG the gear whine is just heaven to my ears! It would be sweet to see that in LFS, but I still like LFS's sounds the way they are. And only time I should hear the birds is when they smack into my windshield as I'm doing 180 mph on the back stretch!

Wow, you guys actually run courses that fast? I could only get about a minute flat on in. Took a few tries to get use to it. I design courses for autocross events too here and there. It might be kinda hard to duplicate what I make on LFS, cause I usually race on an airport runway.

Basically, at first I was trying it in Hot Lapping mode. That's when I originally posted. In S1, you could do it in Hot Lapping mode, so that got me way confused. Then you mentioned trying Single Player, so I tried that. I went in hit shift-u, and didn't see all the stuff at first. Then I pressed O. Nothing happened. So I quit and posted my reply. But I didn't notice in the corner the place object button.
SCCA style Solo2 courses?

Anyone have any good ones? If I'm not too lazy, I might try to make a few here and there.

Yep, that's not working for me.

Tried that. It just makes the key display in the upper left corner and the view controls in the lower left corner dissapear.
Why can't I edit layouts?

In S2, I'll start a game and press shift-U. From there I have no options to edit, save or load any layouts. I can't place objects, I can't do anything but move the camera around. Am I missing something here? I fired up S1 and Shift-U, and all the necessary junk is there to save, load and edit. what the dealio?
