Quote from AndroidXP :Maybe posting a screenshot of that sparkly graphics could help us...

Quote from the_angry_angel :Setup a profile for LFS, so that when it starts, the settings automagically change. Check out: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=978

In short, unless you want AA, AF, etc. all on high all the time and cooking your PC, leave them on app controlled and setup a profile for specific games. This means it runs nice and cool on the desktop, and then maxs out when playing LFS, etc.

You mean I might have fried my video card?

I downloaded the "nhance" to my desktop and ran it but nothing happens. What am I missing? I can't even delete it as when I try it says it's being used by another program. I'm lost. Again.

Would you mind walking me through the process of setting a profile for lfs2 please?
Problems with graphics

Hi folks. I'm having problems with lfs and my video card. I'm running an AMD64 3800+ and a Leadtek 7800GTX with 2GB of RAM and the graphics are all sparkly. I've tried maxing out the settings for the card from the nVidia system tray icon which does help in-game but when I do this and then navigate to a page which uses java my pc locks up as soon as I exit Firefox. This does not happen if I leave my settings at "Application controlled". Should I not be adjusting these settings?

Quote from ijohnson :A couple of FOXes. If anyone is interested I would be happy to post the skins.

Pretty good skins there. I'd use the blue one as I'd really like to have a dedicated Scottish one and this is as close as I've seen so far. Currently I use DC's Red Bull skin but I'm not particularly comfortable with it.

Hi folks. I thought you petrolheads might like to listen to this short radio show I heard last week while hurtling through a blizzard in my wee white van. It only lasts for fifteen minutes but it's pretty interesting all the same.

Quote from geeman1 :Yeah. And 19" LCDs are actually quite small. Better just get atleast a 23"...

But I don't particularly like cheap tft's. You don't get a lot for the money and space isn't really an issue for me. Getting a dead pixel would drive me nuts too. If anyone knows where to get a 21" or 22" Sony CRT for small money let me know.

And as for the processor, have you seen the prices of the latest ones? It is a 939 pin socket so I can always upgrade in a couple of years when it's really needed.

I'm currently seeing frame rates of 95 - 110 online with loads of cars. In Battlefield 2 I regularly see frame rates of 75 - 85 online with 63 others. All this with everything set to max on the 7800.

I think it's the RAM that helps.

I'm pretty happy with it.

Quote from geeman1 :That's no shame. 17" and 19" (and other sizes too) LCD monitors actually are 5:4 like 1280x1024, so the pixels actually are square and the picture is not distorted.

1280x1024 does not translate to a 5:4 aspect ratio. 1280x960 does though, which is why I use it @ 85Hz on my 19" Hansol CRT monitor.

Well here's mine -

CPU : AMD64 3800+
Motherboard : Asus A8N-SLi
GFX Card : Leadtek Geforce 7800GTX
RAM : 2GB Corsair TwinXPro DDR400
Audio : Audigy XS
Power Supply : Hiper 525Watts
Monitor : 19" Hansol CRT
Wheel : Logitech Driving Force Pro
Mouse : Razer Copperhead
Keyboard : Saitek Eclipse
UPS : Belkin 1200
Case : Coolermaster Wavemaster (black)

All put together by Wired2fire.

When I originally got this rig everything ran pretty well. The only problems I had were on Battlefield2 where a degree of lag was evident. To solve this I bought an extra 1GB of RAM. Problem solved. Now I can run any game with everything turned to maximum. Next I'd like to buy a 19" TFT but until prices come down and native resolutions go up I'll be sticking with my Hansol. The image is pin-sharp at 1280x960@85Hz.
