Advice of getting the best settings for G25
hey guys, I wanna get some good advice of how to make my G25 feel like an actual or really close to how a car feels I would really like to know some....thnx
Well idk if this is the "best" but I know IRL the wheel has decent FFB and so I use 100% in the logitech profiler and 200% in game. It makes it harder to turn obviously and I feel its a bit closer, or about as close as it can get.

A warning though, when playing LFS all day long the G25 does heat up a bit (quite warm to the touch) which is why I plan on cutting it open and installing fans. I will wait until the warranty ends first as I do not want to void it, although I think cooling down the insides of the G25 would help quite a bit with the lifespan later.

EDIT: I don't recommend EVER resting your hand in the spokes of the G25 if you use these settings... Just having my palm on the horizontal bar almost broke my hand when FFB was initiated. I wasn't driving, it was after a race, but a rolling car hit me and well the story is pretty clear - Don't do it!
That is CERTAINLY not realistic.. LFS at 200% means you only feel two forces.. FULL or NONE.

You want your logitech profiler global device settings at:
Overall strength 105% (a tiny bit above 100 tends to help near centre responsiveness)
Spring effect 0%
Damper effect 0%
Centering spring 0%

In LFS it all depends on the car, tyre grip and most of all caster.

With 6 degrees of caster on the FZ50, you sort of max out the force feedback at ~ 25% strength in LFS!!!!

Its quite hard to do in LFS as each car is different and you can alter the steering forces a lot with the car setup..
So when you use more than 25% in this situation, it means the maximum steering forces in the sim are not recognized anymore by the wheel. Ideally you want the maximum forces that occur on the track to correspond with the maximum forces your G25 can deliver. Otherwise its like clipping audio; you loose detail and it gets a bit rough!
I never use more than 4° castor these days as I find it better. With 105% and about 25% - 30% in game it's very realistic.

lol thnx for the advice...as of the other day my G25 was really heating due to long use...im gonna try to find a solution of how to cool it without void the warranty ill be trying ur guy's setups(if u don't mind) and ill be looking forward for more setups...appreciate it u guys
If you use settings like Tristan and I do, you can drive for ages without really causing trouble..

When you set the FF too strong, it means you feel no subtle forces, and the motors run at 100% strength all the time... that makes em hot and will shorten the wheel's lifespan indeed.

Never thought of the overheating issue!!!

Also Niels, do you change much for rFactor in your Game Controllers settings?
I don't touch the logitech driver settings other than rotation; just the realfeel parameters for rFactor.. (and any mod that doesn't work with realfeel isn't worth playing anyway; even 80% of the realfeel functional mods are still not worth playing.. )

Any somewhat sim would just need FF; never should you need extra spring / damper / centre spring on top of a sim. LFS does it very well, and about 3 out of the 3000 cars for rFactor do this about just as well.

So are those the all around best settings for the global device settings? If so, thanks a lot. i really needed some help on that.

But steering mechanism do introduce friction, damper and inertia. It can be calculated from mechanism mass, reduction ratio, geometry, tyre, and assisted steering for some cars.

Sooner or later, a racing simulator should simulate this to some extent. I mean simulated, not introduce artificial effects. Steering column is currently not simulated at all in sims...this is a bit weird as it has a huge impact on how the steering feels between different cars.
How should steering column affect the feel? I'm not arguing, I just want to know..
Niels:

Do you leave the centering spring box checked or unchecked in the Logitech Profiler/Windows Game Controllers window?

Thanks again for all of your great work with FFB.

Take care,
PK
Unchecked, you don't need any SFX from the driver, LFS will take care of everything.
Thanks, Night.
