Meh.. a bit disappointing, but I have a test patch Z5 with some cool shadows to be going on with, so I'm not complaining in the slightest.

I feel bad for Scawen. I can't begin to imagine how it feels to have to announce a delay like this, knowing the excitement that the VW has brought to the community. Respect to him for making the RIGHT decision, to delay the release until it's right.

I think we all have to just take the delay on the nose. We all reap the benefits of Scawen's pursuit of excellence at other times.. so we should be ready to take a bit of a knock to our anticipation taste buds this time. It's not actually a big deal, really, and symptomatic of a GOOD thing overall.

LFS costs £24 everywhere, irrespective of VAT. The only issue is currency changes ... and currencies change.

This will mean that the racing should be closer than usual and rely on driver skill, without the need to search for the best setups. Of course this means we need to get the setup as good as possible so it is comparable with the real car.

We are confident that we can fix all the issues and make the car a really good one to drive in the near future, but as various things that need to be done will take an unknown amount of time, we had to make the decision to postpone the release until next year, rather than release something in a rush that is really not as good as it can be.

We know this will disappoint many of you who have waited a long time for the Scirocco, and we are sorry about that. We plan to fix the bugs and continue developing the Scirocco suspension and electronic control systems, to give you a good patch early in 2009.

If the Scirocco comes in 2009 I'll definately buy S2.

And yes, the patches are much more buggy than expected.

Scawen: Just for the record.. in the future, would you pleeaas only post that kind of annoucements if your 120% sure its gonna happend? Im fully ok with the car being delayed, but i could have waited years if i hadnt put my nose up for getting it within the next few days. Would rather like to hear "scirocco is coming on good, and we exspect it to be ready soon" Soon could be anything.. such specific dates just hurt us, and as you can see and allready knew dissapoint alot of people. Then it would feel better to surprise us with good news that its coming out earlier than we all exspected, rather than dissapointing us when its not

He did'nt pay and neither did VW pay for the car to be included...it was a mutual deal that benfited both parties.

i respect his decision, but it was a foolish move to even mention the scirocco's release before he was sure it would be perfect

FTR, the Scirocco in LFS is in direct exchange for.. the Scirocco in LFS, for the Games Convention in Germany in the summer. LFS and VW agreed a no-money deal if LFS could deliver a version of the car in time for the Games Convention, they'd be allowed to deliver it to us and use VW's telemetry to perfect it.

Sure, we're all disappointed, but it sounds like it'll be worth the wait. To help yourself get over the let down, go get Z5 and enjoy the temporary advantage (ABS) you have over people who don't read the test patch forum.

Usually Scawen is the first one to tell US that giving us ANY advance info on what's coming in LFS is a grave mistake. With all due respect, you've proved his point perfectly.

Usually we go for months not knowing what will be included in LFS in the future. We very rarely get any advance information at all, and the reason - in every instance - is because of disproportionate accusations of betrayal, such as yours. You have, basically, proved Scawen 100% correct by doing exactly as predicted.

The chances of us EVER hearing anything in advance are once again reduced to almost dust, thanks to your tantrum and others like it.

Scawen thought things were far enough along that he was safe to give a guestimate on a release, ahead of Christmas. So some extra bugs were turned up by the patch testers, that put a spanner in it. Scawen WAS NOT rude to announce the VW and then postpone it. For rude, check your own posts.
