The online racing simulator
That render was just..... Hot....
True car porn.... Complete with music.
I NEED GT5!!!

I want it on PC with proper physics and then im going to faint
no
it is simply a 3d render model to a very high quality
Ive been "informed" that it "would" run on the ps3's engine, and is based on the GT5 articheirjhetihersotghsr (I cant spell) but the actual problem is not been able to run 12 of these things on a tracka t once
From the outside that looked real. I didn't see the inside though.
Just noticed.

Carbon fibre everywhere = gay.
Btw that has the topgear wing.
downloading at 1.19 KB/sec

Fail..
Just watch the Youtube link in HD. Unless it's not up to your 192323493x2384343 resolution that you'd get from watching a non-streamed HD clip.
Quote from danowat :Could you imagine having this amount of detail in LFS?, or any other sim for that matter?.

The hi-res link is so much nicer to look at, but it's 150mb's

Hi-res link

Lo-res youtube

Obviously computer systems aren't powerfull enough, yet, but GT5's modelling is getting to this stage, and this model was designed for GT5's polygon and texture specifications.

Looks amazing

darn Japanese, too good at everything !!
exept driving in a straight line!
Quote from Vinnylegends :It isnt.... ???

No its more glimps of what to expect in 1 years time i think.
Becaus the speed hardware develops at is very fast nowdays so wouldnt be at al suprised if I would se graphics like that in 2010 at the least

Thats awesome!
Ive got a PS3 so no problem with that
Quote from gezmoor :Pretty impressive. Interesting to note that from the outside it was pretty damn realistic. Only a couple of minor things like the glass being too transparent most of the time (given it was a bright sunny day), and the Carbon being too shiny. However, the second the vid moves in to the interior it becomes immediately obvious that it's computer generated. Somehow the intererior textures just dont seem to have that "real" feel, especially the alloy parts.

That said, THAT is what I'm talking about when I talk about real high quality in-game graphics, not the stupidly bloomed cartoony effects of NFS etc. LFS has a long way to go to achieve anything close to it.

Well, I don't think LFS will ever look anything like that. One reason enough for me, do you wanna download est. 4 GB (or more) everytime uncompatible patch comes out?

As for the render, it's good, but nothing really out of this world. There are some crazy animations etc. around (not about cars, but nevertheless(sp?)). I don't think we'll see that kinda stuff with full grid and good physics soon.

These are all just my thoughts, so... yeah, could be wrong (hope I am)

Again, I think you are missing the point, it's been created, not to look as good as is humanly possible, but to be as good as possible, whilst still being theoretically possible to run it on current gen hardware (PS3)

As for the size issue, I remember a time when a 10mb download was a real achievement to get finished, now people download 1GB without worrying, and 100's of MB's are easy downloads, I am sure, in time, 4GB downloads will be chicken feed
Still looks a little bit over HDR'd. High res textures and polycount for sure, but what's so amazing about that? It's been possible for years, it's just the render times are gradually reducing.
Quote from Bob Smith :but what's so amazing about that?

That it looks that good (any other game look as good?, no, I don't think so), whilst adhereing to GT5's texture and polygon specifications.
Quote from danowat :Again, I think you are missing the point, it's been created, not to look as good as is humanly possible, but to be as good as possible, whilst still being theoretically possible to run it on current gen hardware (PS3)

Oh, ok then... Didn't realised it was something PS3 would theoretically play.

Although, "theoretically" anything is possible, so... um... yea...

I'm gonna back up as I'm starting to confuse myself agan
When they say "theoretically", it's been made to the GT5 texture and poly specs, but, it hasn't actually been used in the GT5 engine.
Those texture and poly specs will surely be for showroom quality models, not actually while in game driving. IIRC, in a certain PS3 racing game, the models in the showroom were 50k polys, but in game they were (up to) 20k polys.
Quote from BlakjeKaas : one day, when multiple (more than 4) dimensions are reflected inside 3d-programs, round polygons ARE possible. (that's what I hope)

wat.
Quote from Shotglass :it does even if only for that its just a black and white texture instead of shimmering fibres

Honestly, I don't see what you mean. As I said CF comes in many forms. Sure if you look up really close you can make out the fibres but from anything more than a few feet they're invisible to the eye.

The CF in the render isn't perfect but it's pretty damn good and is more than good enough for the distances you're ever going to see it from in any game play.

Take a look at these images as comparison:

Quote from gezmoor :Honestly, I don't see what you mean.

you must have never seen actual cf then

Quote :Sure if you look up really close you can make out the fibres but from anything more than a few feet they're invisible to the eye.

you can still tell that theres fibres below the surface that theyre bent in a complicated 3d weave causing different parts of the weave to shimmer at different angles and most importantly its not just a chequered pattern of grey and black (the black being the worst offender here)

Quote :The CF in the render isn't perfect but it's pretty damn good

it is not it looks like some cheap cf lookalike adhesive film used to chav up cars

Quote :and is more than good enough for the distances you're ever going to see it from in any game play.

its right on top of the steering wheel which thanks to its shape makes the cf look even more off than it would on its own on a flat panel

Quote :Take a look at these images as comparison:

why not take a look at pics of actual cf under more complicated lighting conditions?
