Round 8 - Post Race
Before I get onto my POV of the final event, I'll thank Dan once again for going through the effort of organising this league. The car and track choices have been great, and have made for great racing. If there is another season after this, I'll be back in the FZ though, the RAC is such a frustrating pile of shit sometimes.

Qualifying: Most of my laps were poor and scruffy during qualifying, and I felt slightly uncomfortable with the car for most of the laps, but I managed to string together a fairly safe lap which was enough for pole albeit by a tiny margin.

Sprint: The first couple of laps I focussed on building a gap up to troy behind me, which went perfectly until the tyres left me. I wasn't sure how long the set would last, and it turned out they needed more pressure. Still, I kept them from overheating too much, and held of a surging troy behind me to eventually take the win.

Feature: As ever at South City the traffic proved very tricky to navigate through. There are very few decent passing opportunities, so I became frustrated quite a few times. At the time I felt like others were defending slightly unfairly, but watching the replay, it was actually hard but fair defending. I was hoping to get through the pack with Hugo, but as he passed Kid for the lead, I lost 7 or so seconds trying to pass Kid myself. Watching the replay I should have defended into T1 the first time I got past him, as I left myself open for a counter attack, and that's what happened. I then lost more time with a small collision which resulted in massive oversteer and almost a spin, so the win was now out of the question. Still 2nd was still a good enough result to (provisionally) take the championship.

Indeed, hats off to Dan for organising another quality season of racing in these underused beasts. And also thanks to all competitors for making it so enjoyable...close, hard racing at times, but clean throughout.

For me, qually went a little better than expected and I ended up pretty much in the middle of the grid.

Race 1 started well enough, but I got caught up in the congestion/accident at T1 and lost a helluvalot of places. After that, I had great fun making up a few positions before the end of the race. Got a little tap from Dan coming out of T1 at one point, but it was just a case of both of us leaving just the right amount of racing room for each other and no harm was done.

Race 2 didn't go so well. I clouted the wall with my front right corner just after the tunnel and then the car didn't really want to turn right at all. Later in the lap, I got caught out by Dan and Troy parked up for a chat at the hairpin and then pitted to fix the damage. This put me miles behind, but I did have a couple of scraps with one of the T7R lads and also Greybull as we fought to not be dead last.
My final race of the season.

Qual : poor

Sprint : not too bad

Feature : shite, crashed Troy (sorry man ), had to pit for fix damage, got puncture on last lap, managed not to finish last so how!!!.

All in all, a bad day at the office.

As for the season, I'll do a proper "wrap up" when I do the Awards ceremony (which I had planned to do today, however, I need to check the replay for a complaint), but to summirize.

Its been a good season all in all, I think the rules are pretty much "there" now, and wouldn't need much, if any, fettling for any future seasons (still in decision).

As for the running of it, its not been easy, simply due to the fact my LFS motivation is at an all time low, so its been hard to give the league the attention it deserves.

I just hope people enjoyed it, it was a shame so many dropped out, but thats the nature of the beast that is LFS leagues it would seem.

Aye, in last years BabyR thing we had 50 signups and at least 10 reserves.
We still didn't have a full grid for the final round.
As said in first two post, RSC has ever been the best of in LFS leagues, so here comes my thanks to Dan for everything he did, it's hell of a good job, you're doing for us.

Race itself was very good and enjoyable, though i felt quite frustrated sometimes, because i felt i can go much faster, but my set, combined with the car, didn't allowed me to do so well. When i looked at actual WR, i knew it could be easily beaten to ground, which Dave, Hugo and Troy have proved later in quali. I was half second behind top5 and half second ahead of lococost.

Start in sprint was bad. I braked way too late for T1 and clipped Nialls back while trying to avoid him on the outside. First i thought he was ok, so i got back behind loco, but then i realised, that he's way back down the field. That was half way through the lap, so i just continued, because lifting off at this point was dangerous. Soo.. here comes my official "sorry".
Next three laps it was great fight with lococost, those whales aren't easy to pass here. Few times side by side, i also had to defend to speedway.
After i got past, i pulled away from them and finished 5th.

Feature race brought me my first RSC podium (iirc), so happiness all over the place, champagne, girls etc. etc.
I got quickly to the first place and held it for 14 or 15 laps. Then Hugo came steaming through. I held him behind for almost two laps, then he got past me. With Dave it was more interresting. 13 laps to finish was a lot, but then i got mad idea of holding him behind for the rest of race. We had few contacts, my pass back in T1 was kinda rough though. That's the way i race sometimes.
Long story short: Dave passed me after 3 laps and in the end i was happy that race had only 30 laps, because Troy was lapping me 2s per lap and in finish only 1s was between us.
So 3. in finish, all in all great evening, thanks to all for good racing.

E: Oh and congrats to winners!

Btw. Troy, may i try your set?
My connection just died before the feature race. Didn't have internet before morning.
That sucks, we did wait for ya!!!!

This series have been the best racing in LFS I've come across so far.
Although I didn't have any chances to fight for it at the sharp end, I enjoyed every race through the season. There were allways few cars around to race with, and with these luggers it was allways a pleasure.

Thanks for Dan making it happen, and thanks for all the racers for good, clean and tight races. And of course congrats to winners.

Bring on RSSC!!

No worries, it was quite fun trying to make my way up the pack to a respectable condition
