Both teams have their respective fronts in F1 under some sort of control, however I think you'll find the the Sauber F1 'team' is still very much in place and under control of Willi Rampf, who was running the team for Peter Suber before BMW got involved.
The team are still running the cars, they just happen to be owned by BMW, they haven't been completely replaced with BMW staff.
Nah, they're still based at Hinwil, Willi Rampf still runs the team the only difference being that he answers to Mario Thiessen of BMW now instead of Peter Sauber.
the only thing wich is manufactured in the motorsports center of BMW in Munich is the engine for the BMW Formula One project... The car is still manufactured in Switzerland... additionally BMW only bought the majority of Sauber and not 100% of the team...
so it is something between McLaren Mercedes and Benneton Renault... McLaren is quiet independent though they are recieving money of Mercedes, and Engines... Benneton was bought completely by Renault, inclusivlely moving the factory to France as far as I know.
I believe the Renault team runs from two seperate locations. Read it in a RaceCar technologies magazine. Engines in one factory (france) and the chassis in the UK.
Interesting, if I remember correctly Honda started working on their 2009 car before anyone else, and so the design is probrably fairly well thought out already.
